This is one of our favorite mexican restaurants in DeKalb County. The staff is always professional and curteous and their food doesn't dissapoint. I have not been there with their live bands, but I bet it provides a fun atmosphere out on their patio. Also, be very careful with their margaritas. Their margaritas are very big, but who would want a small margarita? Just be sure you have a dd because you are probably going to need one or you'll just have to do a dance off with a little bit of salsa and chips. If that doesn't appease your appetite, then you can ask for some hot salsa, because who would want to go mild?

Was surprised for a smaller place everything was just the way you would want it in a restaurant, the staff was right on spot, the food was exceptional, been there 4 times now and every time they made it so we would want to come back. Thanks for such good service, I wouldn't change anything.

Usually the food is great. But not this time. Both my plate and my daughters plate was terrible. O had the chicken and mushroom dinner. The chicken was so dry and over cooked. Tough as shoe leather. Both plates. Really disappointed. Mentioned it to the waiter and the check out. They didnt seem to care.

The restaurant has a nice setting. Its more Tex Mex food. No varieties of salsa. Street corn is not the authentic kind I'm used to. The horchata was very good. It seemed to want to be like los ponchos in Sycamore. Its okay

Really great flavors here all around! Their sauces set them apart in my opinion. Service can occasionally get a little bogged down once in a while but it's always friendly and usually quick. Great atmosphere.

The food is great. The servers are always pleasant and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Good place for large groups too.

Great place! Comfortable seating area, reasonably priced, good service, good portions and food was good! My husband loved the steak in his fajita especially. We'll be back.

The patio is nice. The skinny margarita was very good. The steak in the tacos was over cooked and dry, I would not order again. I read google reviews prior to eating here and wonder if I came on an off night.

Ordered the el tri color enchiladas. Was cooked well but didn't have a lot of flavor. Also I got the mojito, tasted mostly like margarita mix and mint. Staff was friendly and quick on their feet. Came around once to see how things were. I'd like to try it again soon to give it a second chance.

Great food! Great service! Reasonable prices. We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Servers make awesome recommendations--listen to what they have to say.

I thought the food looked like it has been sitting out for awhile, meaning not fresh. The taco shell was greasy, and the food portions were skimpy. Not impressed.

Recently attended a retirement party here and had a great time! We were seated in the patio area and had plenty of room. I had the shrimp chimichanga and thoroughly enjoyed the freshness of ingredients and the seasonings. Though it was a gathering of 30+ people, the waitress was extremely efficient and attentive. I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended.

I took my family here to re-celebrate my birthday dinner fiasco. I was very pleased. Rivers service is excellent and the food was very good. I had the Genoa Fajitas and the generous portion was enough for lunch the next day! You can say I celebrated 2X times with one meal from Rivers. I know where to go next time I want to get good Mexican food!

Amazing and friendly staff, beyond great food, food was fresh and hot and arrived in a timely manner. Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. Its located in the middle of no where but more then worth the trip. While a little expensive the serving size more then justifies it. Will be returning soon. My waiter was Oscar and he made the whole thing more personalized, and that much better!

We'll definitely be back. Unique drink menu. Food was great, too. Nice outdoor patio area. Hidden gem, just off the highway. Much bigger than it looks from the outside.

Bad experience. Waitress never came back to take our order. We had to get up and go get someone. Forgot our drinks. If we were drinking alcohol, it would have been even worse because it was 20+ minutes before we had to go get some one to help us. She apologized and said she had tables inside. The other waiter outside should have probably served our table. He seemed very visible. Our food was ice cold. Waste of time and money . Very disappointed.

Nice place in an out of the way location in Genoa, Illinois. The food is very good, I had their standard margarita and it was not too sweet like a lot of them are. A bit pricy and they had a musician on the patio. She was good but so loud it was impossible to talk.

Food is good. Location is a little out of the way/ hidden. Kinda looks like it's closed most the time.

Living in the area we became custom to buying from here and loved it since. Very good as if we were in Mexico enjoying food on vacation. We have moved out of the area and once in a while order from here. It is a very long drive but well worth it when we get it.

This place is very unprofessional especially the owner. I went to pick up my order and the young man on the phone said 10-15 minutes. I got there and he told me it’s going to be another 10 minutes. 15 minutes pass and he comes up saying there was a mix up with my order so I had to wait over 45 minutes for my order. I will not be coming back to this restaurant after today. Worst experience in the fast food industry

The food and the service was outstanding! Prices were good. They also serve alcohol. I will definatly go there again! One my new favorite authentic Mexican restaurant

Honestly the food wasn't great. The saving grace was the service being really good and the restaurant itself being a nice place. In terms of the food it was a bit overpriced and just not very good. At the prices you would espect top notch authentic Mexican food but got more of a local cheap taco house quality food at higher end restaurant prices. Not terrible but wouldn't recommend either

Tucked back in the corner on a little side street behind Butera Market, Rivers' Mexican Cantina is the little place with big things. You'll recognise it as the former location of Rosati's, but they've changed it up. You enter into a bright foyer into a side walkway that opens to plenty of bright, roomy tables, and cozy booths that are open enough to allow you to participate in the atmosphere, but private enough for intimate conversation. We came on a Wednesday night, a party of three, and we were seated quickly and courteously. Our waiter was polite, pleasant and engaging, he took our orders very quickly and for as busy as it was, we were served FAST! I ordered the torta with carnitas and a side of fries. It's absolutely enormous but extremely delicious. The bread is fresh, the carnitas very juicy and the layering of the beans, Pico, sour cream and lettuce was perfect. No runny, watery lettuce, none of that. It was delicious. We also ordered the Genoa Enchiladas. A very generous portion of enchiladas on fresh tortillas with a healthy side of rice and beans, it tasted every bit as good as it looked. Our third order was the Genoa Fajitas and wow! Fresh, warm tortillas and sour cream, beans, rice and sides served with a sizzling hot plate of chicken, shrimp and steak fajitas, all cooked to perfection in once again a very generous portion. This is a great place to take the family or to have a special meal or date night. No reservations required. The price is budget friendly (for three people plus a beer, $43), and if you're interested, also does take out if you're just looking for a meal in your own home. A clean and bright atmosphere with attentive staff and excellent food, this is the place to go!

Waitress couldn't care less about serving us. After ordering drinks AND food at the same time, didn't see her until we were ready for the bill. Otherwise food was average. Ordered the question dip and it was cold and too thick to dip into. Also, ordered the shrimp and scallop enchiladas. Enchiladas fell apart from too much sauce and seafood was cold inside. Not very appetizing. Beer was cold though, so plus there I guess

Great restaurant! Totally worth the short drive from Sycamore. Loved the Veggie Enchiladas. Great service too!

The GREATEST mexican restaurant in Genoa. Great food, awesome margaritas, guac is TOP SHELF, but best of all is the staff. Terrific, friendly dedicated to making sure everything is perfect!

Food is OK. Several items on the menu were not available. Price of food was average. Located in a pole barn off the beaten path. Was originally a Rosatis pizza. You'll never find it if your not looking for it. Rivers' Mexican is that place that one figures won't be in business in 6 months.
