Nice museum about the history of machines. You can experience primitive methods, steam machines, their revolutions, electric machines. There is also a workshop about papers/printings on 4th floor, so cute. You need at least 1-1.5 hour to visit all the floors.

Learnt alot about industrialisation and the sophistication of textile and printing. I totally didn't know that Belgians are pioneer innovators in the two fields. We had our toddlers with us but I think its best to visit with older kids. Totally worth the time and money!

See and hear about the evolution of the textile trade in Ghent and including how a local entrepreneur got the drop on the English and helped kick off Belgium's industrial revolution. There's also a floor devoted to the evolution of printing from press to digital. Informative work lots of hands-on activities for young and old.

Very cute and there is something to do for any age but wouldn’t recommend with small children who don’t speak Dutch! Cute cafe and would recommend!!

A very interesting museum about the history of industry in Gent. The museum is well organised, clean, and with a polite staff. Everything is written in Dutch, French and English. Totally worth visiting if you visit Gent.

Eindrucksvolles Museum mit interessanten Maschinen für Druck und Textilherstellung. Man braucht viel Zeit, bis zu 3 Stunden. Auf der Webseite des Museums können Workshops gebucht werden.

Beautiful museum very well located with a little restaurant. And also the view through the windows is amazing. One of the few museums I could go to together with the kids and still enjoy as an adult. This because they have a special edition for the kids, in Dutch but still, the creative corners can be used and play for all kids no matter language. Totally kid friendly!!

One great experience! A thorough approach on both the local and global textile and printing industry. The display of machines and the actual working processes are without match! Thank you! The staff (especially the typesetters - thank you for the great talk and the special present for my amazed father) is very nice, helpful and making sure it is a great experience no matter the conditions.

Good place to visit on a trip to Gent. The museum was set over four floors with plenty to see and do. €8 entrance fee.

The museum is curated with extraordinary care. The exhibition touches on all the aspects of textile (and industrial) history: labour, technology, design, trade and consumption. Whether you know loads or little about the absolute relevance of textiles in history and in the history of Ghent in particular, this museum will proof an extraordinary experience. The display speaks to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Moreover, some of the gallery assistants who work here are former textile workers full of knowledge. Exquisite museum, exquisite visitor experience!!! A must!!!

This museum has 5 levels with different types of exhibition in each level. If you come early, your kids can join a kind of workshop. At level 4, you can make your own souvenir for free!

The woman on reception was the most welcoming person ever. She introduced the MIAT to us explaining what was on each floor. The displays were interactive and would be great for older children. The video presentations by actors of characters in history was fantastic. So good in fact we had to remember to look at the details in each room. There were some unique presentation ideas with screens made from ropes that were an impressive use of space. There were loads of old machinery on display, films of them in operation and also some weavers and textile artists operating looms and creating product. A recommended 40 minutes for the 5th and 2nd floors. The print floor was closed for renovation when we were there.

Great place to visit if you are interested in how the textile and printing developed on an industrial level in Belgium, Ghent specifically. A lot of actual machines are shown and detailed usage is described. Definitly worth a visit.

The museum is quite small but I enjoyed it very much. Seeing the old looms working is just fascinating! They also manufacture textile on site, some of which can be purchased at the museum shop.

Fun museum to kill a couple of hours. If you have spare time in the city, I recommend going. It’s definitely walkable from the city center. I’m a textile buff so this was very interesting to me. It has great history about the textile past of Ghent.

Some fine pieces from the worlds of cotton-spinning and printing, well presented. Pleasant café. Allow 2 hours or more.

Well organised, interesting and interactive. However, it's a pitty that almost all of the written information is only in Flemish.

One of the most beautifully curated museums in Belgium. The storytelling is both intelligent and creative. Loved how the museum connected the industrial r(evolution) with Gent's skyline and landmarks; and how it used different mediums, like sound and animated 3D models, to explain how machines worked. Other museums should take que from this one.

pretty interesting and spacious museum with lots of historical exhibits. tickets were more than reasonably priced and it seemed to be especially cool for kids and families. there’s lots to actually try out and experience first hand.

Interesting museum in an old industrial building. The permanent collection on printing, textiles and evolution in the textile industry is very instructive. We also visited the exhibition burn. Very unique and interesting set-up

Its an interesting museum. However, I find the textile museum from Holland is more fun.

A treasure of Ghent! Lots of textiles and printing on show.. Their machines are still running during the day by their staff! Although the machines are noisy, it's really interesting how the industry used to work in Ghent. Tip: go to the top floor, and you'll see one of the best views of the skyline of Ghent

Nice museum. Little to much dramatization from actors and multimedia for my taste.

We actually went there only because most museums were closed on Monday. Really good decision! For students under 25 its only 2€ and there is so much to see. Really interesting accounts of live and machinery during the industrial ages as well as a lot of interactive things to do. There is also always thing to to for children!

Within walking distance of the city centre. Set over five floors, a good place to spend a rainy morning. Lift between floors and most information in English and Flemish. Would visit again midweek when I understand that some of the exhibits can be seen working.

Large old textile factory now a museum across several floors (served by both stairs and lift). Some really interesting exhibits show the development of textile machinery, printing and how these impacted peoples' lives in Ghent. I picked up one of the free posters they print there on the old machines, and it's now in pride of place, framed, in our kitchen.

Incredible 5-story museum displaying rare machines and presses like steam engines, excellent displays with videos that share the stories of prominent and meager Ghent citizens who helped grow the city. The mood you feel when you learn about the painful labor is real. The machines alone are worth seeing. Good place for adults and kids.

Nice examples of textile and printing industry equipment. Unless you have a particular interest I would not go out of my way to see it.

It's clear that a lot of effort went into this museum: interesting, well explained and detailed, a lot to learn in terms of history and technique. Got to see how Ghent was a major industrial city and how it all developed. Great value for money for people under 25 as well.
