So I was there 2 years later, March 2022, I say let's give Mezcalli a second chance because it looks good.. We arrive around 6.05 pm so they have 3 tables plus mine, we order cocktails and our starter and tacos of course... We get our cocktails... And we wait for about one hour, we thought was taking so long for an order of nachos as an starter... the other tables already have their main dishes so we thought will be now for us.. . We ask to the waitresses when we would get our starter, she said I will take a look at the kitchen, so she was back telling its was not the fault of the kitchen but they didn't receive our order (7:10pm).. So they were just going to start with it...I was completely disappointed because I thought it would be better now...the place was not full, we were 4 tables, so I don't understand how the waitresses never noticed that we never get food.. The decoration is nice but you don't feed your belly with it.

Very nice Mexican style lounge cafe and restaurant, on the edge of the city center. Great atmosphere, good food and nice drinks. Service is swift, and the location is cool. Our goto place in Gent for a small evening bite.

Mexican restaurant in a very well-decorated setting. The mexican feel is real. What a selection of Mezcals! Prepare for a real mexican treat when you order the Chef's choice (don't order it if you are not hungry, because it's A LOT) GREAT cocktails, could do better on the beer offer though.

Ordered some very nice cocktails, but we were disappointed in the proportions. Very small drinks for quite high prices. But taste is quite amazing. The rasperry caipirinha could be better shaken, as the drink came with a thick sugar layer at bottom of the glass!

Nice place to enjoy in the summer with friends. I ordered a Mezcal Margarita, Pulled Porc Taco’s and a big bowl of Nachos.

I rate a 3 over a 4 because the prices of the food are quite high… 12 euros for two tacos… also the quality of things like tortillas is sometimes quite low being chewy or hard. Servings are quite small. Tequila and mezcal selection are amazing, with a very open minded bar staff to help you get as close to your fav Mexican cocktails. Overall, decent experience with nice place and ambiance.

Update 2023: Still the best Mexican fusion in the area! It is not cheap, there is not food by kilo... But if you want an experience this is the place! I loved the margaritas and Paloma Blanca! And my new favorite is the Tostada de Atun. Super friendly crew and and amazing atmosphere! Please, bring back the Nachos! 😅 Excellent service, nice drink menu and super friendly service. The Mexican fusion is interesting and the nachos the best I ever tried!

Mexcalli is a cosy restaurant with a great vibe. Downside however is the price and quality of the food. During the Gentse feesten I ordered a buritto and some tacos but the amount of food I got was very small for the price I paid. there was almost nothing inside the buritto. I was still hungry when I left the place. @mexcalli, this would be a point of improvement. Otherwise I really like the place :)

Waited way too long. Even a beer order took 30 minutes. Food came not even hot. No apology or so from the waiters. Too expensive for the service and quality of food. Rather go to other Mexican places (or others) in Ghent.

Chill terrace/bar during the summer on which you can enjoy nice drinks, cocktails, finger food, nachos and tacos. Good music and service. Tried both their Mocktails (Agua de Jamaica) and Cocktails (Jamaical) and their Nacho vulcano, which all tasted great.

Very good Mexican food, tacos tasted very authentic too! Would recommend the Mezcal Margarita as a cocktail.

In summer they have a summer bar with great cocktails! Tried the strawberry daiquiri and loved it

First time eating out with work lovely service, it was chefs table so we couldn't choose the dishes, I would just loved a dessert at the end in the chefs table

Amazing place with a stunning real Mexican atmosphere. Bartender Jeff really knows what he is doing! 10/10 would recommend.

We had a bad experience and sent a private e-mail about our bad experience and they even blamed us further. Good decoration and good margaritas, but if you can’t eat cilantro due to the soap gene, don’t go here because they will find your request of taking cilantro out “annoying” if you are not allergic. I have never been gaslighted by a restaurant before. Unprofessional.
