Good atmosphere, overall tasty food but the prices are not justified and it’s too expensive for what you get. For example, they sell you „Vegan Vibes“ for 16€ which is basically just a small plate of green salad with carrots, a few cut olives and nuts. If the food was around half the price, we would consider coming back but for roughly 80€ for 2 people you can find many better places in the city

What a find! So happy to discover a fabulous Mediterranean restaurant in Ghent - and, even better (and new for me), Albanian! Delicious and well-priced with a list of unusual wines. We went with the Gjahtari shared dinner and were very happy with the quality and quantity of food. Friendly service and a nice space round out a stellar meal. Well done Bistro Illyrian team!

Fish and ribeye is good, but the lamb is a bit hard to chew. We like the starter and dinning experience is quite fulfilling

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Ghent, Belgium. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing. Had the chance to try some traditional Albanian dishes and everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Ghent. Highly recommend!

I have mixed feelings for this place, which could have been fantastic, but fell short on a number of aspects. The Good: -The Kosovar Riesling was one of the best white wines I have tried in recent years. Full taste of the Riesling blissfully deprived of the excessive sweetness of most commercial products. An absolute go. - food was very tasty, great quality, beautiful presentation. The Bad: - even though the food was very high quality, it was also very spicy, without any telling from the menu whatsoever. No problem for me (I love spicy...) But my mother, who has some health problems, couldn't basically eat anything. - cost is a bit on the higher side, even for Gent. The Mains price is reasonable, but these come with no sides whatsoever, and most sides are 10euros extra. The Ugly: Waiting time was extremely long, over 50 minutes; and it wasn't that busy either! In sum: great place, but with some improvements needed before making to the 5 stars. Most things are fortunately easy to address (simply write "spicy" on the menu...). Price less of a problem if the overall experience improves. Recommended, anyway

Traveling through Ghent, we found Illyrian for lunch via Google. Wonderful. We were with 4 young children, which always creates chaos, but the staff and owner were very hospitable. And the food was super good. Such a complex mix of flavours, we had to ask the owner about the origin. Her answer was, that its Albanian based food mixed up with global flavors. Fantastic and super interesting. The lamb was tender, moist and delicious as lamb can be. No chewy parts, nor dried out over cooking. But the star was a piece of flat bread with rucola salad, fried cheese (I think it was fried), olive oil and probably some honey or other sweet. We all loved it!! Thank you and we when we're in Ghent, we will definitely return!! PS. next time I'd love to try the Mojito's

Summary for those who don't want to read it entirely: the food is AMAZING, but it's a little overpriced, and it can get really noisy inside if full. Now to the details: the seasoning they use is incredibly good. We ordered an entry called Discover Mezze, which was very nice. Then, we ordered the sea bass and the roasted lamb as main dishes, with the aubergine as a side dish. It was almost too much food for two people, so if you are not that hungry, I think you can skip the entry. Alert for those who don't like salt: you might find it a little too much. For us, Brazilians, that just matched perfectly our taste 😋 So, about the price, we spent almost 100 euros on the dinner. The great food compensated the price, but it could be a little cheaper in my opinion (comparing to other restaurants that we had lunch or dinner in Ghent).

I ate the best calamari ever. They were so crispy it’s hard to believe. Great house wine too. I frankly recommend this place to anyone who admires great Mediterranean food.

Excellent place to try at Gand (Belgium) to taste good wine and to eat Albanian food. Very tasty and very yummy. The waiter is very gentle and know how to serve his customers.

I will start with the good! I made a reservation and got a lovely table outside, waiter was really nice and welcoming, ordered a really campari orange for 11€ but when the food arrived me and my friends were a little disappointed .. the food that you see in the picture was 120€ + another 30 auro for our drinks.. I personally think it was not worth 40€ per person.. prawns were nice but octopus a little hard and fish underseasoned, salad and rice were too oily. But the real issue is I did not feel good at all after dinner, got stomach cramps a few hours after the meal. Not sure I would give this another try, and if yes nex time I would visit just for drinks.

This is a restaurant with a very nice concept of sharing food or tapas. The virgin mojito was very good, and there is a very nice wine selection. I ordered bone marrow, but there was no bread….

Very affordable food with nice service. The restaurant was also quite small, which gives a very cosy feeling!

👍👍 « Luxury fries 🍟 » and well it is quite expensive. But I’d say it is worth it at least once. It is the price for exceptional fries 😉. The fries were absolutely delicious, and well cooked. They ask you to choose 2 homemade sauces. I took the béarnaise and 🤤. The chicken chunks were natural and tas...
