This is one of my favorite place for brisk walk, one complete circle is ~2.8km. It's also linked to some of the most scenic hiking trail in penang including ngoh hean, tiger hill and etc.

A Penangite but 1st time here after so many years, oops. A very nice place for walking, exercising and jogging. Nice scenery and definitely will be back again for a full round of walk (2.8km) around the dam. There's a parking place near to the dam but it is quite small and might be full, can park somewhere on the way to the dam around 5 to 8 min walk near to the big billboard. Here again 2 weeks later to walk around the dam, spent around 30min for the entire walk. Carpark is already full at 7am! Nice place for a relaxing walk.

As I've been living in Switzerland, the previous comment of a Malaysian made me laugh: "A must visit place if you have a strong car. Otherwise don't go there its very high." For the few who like to walk, it is possible to go up from the temple to the Air Itam Dam, At 65 years old, my wife and I took 90mn taking time to take pictures, and 45mn to go back down. Halfway up, a well-deserved break will offer you a beautiful panorama on the Kek Lok temple with the Straits of Malacca in the background. When you arrive at the reservoir, some monkeys will greet you. A walk around the lake allows you to enjoy the fresh air, the calm and avoid the humidity of the city.

Very beautiful place for chillax, running and slow walk. The whole route (one round) is probably around 4km. Make sure you take a lot of selfie which is Instagrammable. ๐Ÿ˜Š Parking is always a problem. An alternative is that you park somewhere before the place and walk up.

A place where you can take your whole family for a relaxing walk and beautiful scenery. For joggers, there's plenty of space and around 4km of trail to use, and tall tress for shades so don't worry about the sunlight. For hikers there is few route where you can hike to somewhere else including to Penang hill. For nature lovers, like me, there's alot of animals to expect, reptiles, birds, mammals and especially butterflies, a lot of different kind of butterflies.

At first, we're planning to go to Kek Lok Si. We stumbled upon this breathtaking place by accident. Let me tell you, this is where you use "sangat indah nian" in your essay to describe the environment around this dam. Below the dam is George Town, with Kek Lok Si beside. Above is green hills, filled with vibrant wildlife. The dam itself is fill with aquatic lifes such as tortoises and fishes too! If you want to visit, you can choose to drive, bike or hike.

This park is so beautiful and peaceful, we went there because the entrance fee to Penang Hill was expensive and the wait was 2 hours. A taxi from Penang Hill to here cost RM16, free entrance, you can walk around the reservoir in about 40 minutes. Just beautiful and much better than the experience of Penang Hill

This is a really serene park surrounded by beautiful nature. I would highly recommend coming here if you are also doing the temple nearby. There is a walk around the lake and free public restrooms.

What more can you ask when the very existence of scenic views are right in front of your eyes, an abundant of fresh air, exceptionally peaceful environment, lots of greenery the closest mother nature has to offer, a place to work out; whether its running, jogging, walking or having a ride on a bike and most importantly its free. Here's a perfect place for the family to get together to enjoy each others company either on a weekend or holidays. Put away your phones for once and enjoy the scintillating time without interference. You'll be amazed with the beauty it has to offer. I enjoyed coming here so much and will never stop coming. For once I won't complaint. For those who has yet to give it a try, put on your shoes and get your butts out, do not be hesitant to enjoy the wonders of our creator. You won't regret for a second spend here.

Clean. Safe. Lots of people jogging/walking. Path is tarred. Shaded. Wear good footwear. Hike is slightly hilly. Steep drive up, parking tight. Toilet available. Nice to visit. Good views. Allow 1.5hrs. Enjoy.

Loved this place and came upon it by chance after a visit to Kek Lok Si temple. Just keep driving further up, past the Kuan Yin temple. We arrived around half five and it was cooling down. There was lots of joggers and walkers with a few cyclists mixed in. It takes maybe 40 minutes to walk around the reservoir. It's really nice. There's monkeys, birds and the usual wildlife but didn't see any snakes unfortunately. Parking for cars and bikes on site. It's free. There's no charge.

Wen there during a cloudy day. Ample parking as we drove up to the peak of the water dam. Although the view is blocked by the trees, it was still a beautiful sight of Penang Island. Great place for joggers.

If youโ€™re visiting Kek Lok Si Temple, itโ€™s definitely worth a drive up the hill to get here. Itโ€™s peaceful and scenic.

One of the best place to visit at Penang, especially if you love hiking and also a nature lover. Somehow I am glad that this place is not frequented by tourist so the locals can still enjoy a nice hike and then either a slow walk or jog around the dam. It is especially super nice when you go on a cool morning (or if it rains the night before). The air is so nice and cooling and you also get to see mist. So actually if you walk around the dam, there are still smaller trails for you to hike further so you can definitely consider that if you are adventurous. Besides hiking, there are also bikers who painstakingly ride up all the way from the base to the dam but I think this is beginner level? I am not sure as I dont ride bicycle but I can see the cyclist struggling also but the trail is not that long hence I said as beginner. On one hand I am reluctant to share and recommend this place because I wouldn't want too many people to discover this place but on the other hand, I am thinking good stuff must be shared!

I love this place for its relative accessibility, great view of the city from front of reservoir, superb greenery, calm serenity n cool fresh air. Ideal for families n friends, walkers n joggers. People come here at all times of the day. Best of all, entrance is free. Visitors can drive up to the dam but note that parking bays are limited. The place is safe.

Very nice walking paths with colder air than in Georgetown. A good refuge from the heat and busy streets.

If you want to go for a long run/walk/hike and don't want to be at a public park This place is a hidden gem for you It's not a park but it's a water dam but the road connects to somewhere really far which is great for those that want to go for a long run but don't want to go round and round There is also a trail hike as shown in 1 of the picture for those that wants it It can also be a sight seeing places for those who wanted it This place is just after kek lo si which I never discovered until now(completely missed it) Parking space is provided so don't worry about it

This place could be ignored as it located near to the famous Bukit Bendera. But I believe it was well known among local. The place that come from, the dam is just a dam nothing more than that. But this place is amazing, they utilize a dam for a recreation place with a proper parking space, toilet, kid playground, running/walking trail, stunning view and its free of charge. You need to drive your own vehicle in order to get here.

Took an easy hike from Air Itam Dam to Ngor Hean, and further up the hill, to an orchard. It was a very nice orchard with blooming flowers. Along the way up to the hill, there were lots of durian trees with durian flowers blooming. Very soon they will bear durian fruits. The weather was very cool up the hill.

Seems to be a popular place for exercising. The road leading up to the dam is quite narrow and curvy. Not for the faint hearted or those driving wider cars.

One of most relaxing and serene area to walk, run or hike. Need to come early to enjoy the breeze and sunrise. Parking spaces may be limited. Clean public toilet

A nice and easy walk around the dam. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to complete one round the dam. It's very shady and breezy. The water level of the dam is now more than 90%full.
