This was a great find on a day trip. We did not stay overnight but were made very welcome. If we had known about it would probably have booked in advance. We were lucky enough to have the elephant experience which was fantastic. Only us and one other couple so we had plenty of time for close up experience feeding and petting the elephants. It was also educational in a relaxed way. The Hotel restaurant was right on a lagoon/ water hole and was a spectacular setting for a great lunch. The rooms were private lodges surrounding the lagoon but discreetly tucked away. The whole estate was of an excellent standard. With more time we would have liked to do the game drive and other experiences.

Thank you for the best holiday ever. We could give our mom the most exotic and adventurous birthday weekend. It’s the little things that count; getting our luggage, switching on our electric blankets while we’re at dinner, driving us to our rooms when it rains, getting help harmlessly removing a spider from the room, and getting educated by well trained and experienced tour guides/animal handlers! To name a few people who made our experience extra special: Eric is definitely a brave guide with a sense of humour. When the rhino came up to us and smelled him, he didn’t flinch! Gordon waited on us at the restaurant, and definitely serves to make the experience tasteful! Russel came to the rescue when we called to have a massive spider removed from the room late at night. He taught us a handy trick to harmlessly handle them with a towel and free them outside. Fiso is definitely family to the elephants. He is very friendly, entertaining and even takes photos of you with the elephants on your phone/camera! Jean fed the lions and gave us some insight about their instincts and nature. Janette is the sweetest waitress who goes above and beyond to serve you the best food on a silver platter. Sonya waited with us until the meerkats came out of hiding on a misty day. She educated us a lot and in detail in the 90 minutes of waiting. Overall, this was the best weekend we could’ve hoped for, and it was well worth the money. Thank you to all the staff at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge!

My husband and I came here on honeymoon for 2 nights and we had the most amazing experience! From start to finish- everything was spectacular! Truly the best place we have stayed at. The facilities are incredible- our tent was overlooking a beautiful dam with hippo's in the water and elephants in the distance. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety of great options. Top service and incredible employees- everyone went the extra mile. We will truly remember this lodge forever! Thank you for making our honeymoon so special. We will definitely be back!

Do not book!! The animals are, contrary to what the description suggests, caged. Sure, the enclosure is larger than in the zoo, but still, for example, the cheetahs are separated from all other animals in their own enclosure. We had booked the cheetah experience… And did not see a single cheetah. It was wasted time and we did not get our money back, no goodwill at all. But if we had known that the animals are kept alone in their enclosures, we would not have booked the tour in the first place. Something like this should not be supported!

My wife booked a sunset game drive with Buffelsdrift after seeing that their prices online were fairly reasonable, upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised to learn that there was in fact a discount given to us and we were charged less than what we thought we'd be paying. The game drive itself was lovely, we managed to see a number of species including Rhino, buffalo and giraffe. Please note that the elephants and Lions are part of a completely separate package. The game guide was very pleasant, friendly and very knowledgeable. The overall experience was wonderful. The game drive included sundowners at a lookout point which was great, the only complaint I have is that unfortunately the beer wasn't cold enough, but nonetheless a fantastic experience.

My brother and I booked our parents for a 2-night stay at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge and this is what they had to say: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Was absolutely incredible! The service provided by the staff was excellent, and the food was delicious. The highlight of the trip was the unforgettable wildlife experience, especially seeing the majestic elephants and hippos and so much more wildlife. It was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that left me in awe of nature's beauty. We can't wait to return to Buffelsdrift and extend a big thanks to the lodge for providing such an amazing experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic African safari adventure.

If you get a chance to do the elephant experience, it is well worth it!! My kids (12 and 10) will remember this experience their entire lives.

We stayed in Buffelsdrift for 1 day and night but we wished we had booked longer. The peace, beauty and luxury are in one word, fantastic! Respect for the staff who give 110% effort. Upon arrival we were given a refreshing drink and taken to our tent by golf cart. The tent itself is beautifully decorated! We did a bush safari and the next day we did the cheetah experience. What a wonderful experience that was! Super exciting to search for wild cheetahs while walking, highly recommended this activity! The dinner was really delicious and so filling that I couldn't finish it all. And while we were dining, our bed was preheated and a toffee was placed on our pillow. How fantastic! If you want a luxurious stay and want to see wild animals, Buffelsdrift is highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing place. Clean tents, with all the necessary luxury. Comfortable bed, you have a bathtub and a outdoor shower. Friendly staff and good food at the restaurant. You can eat with a nice view of the dam. You can see a lot of animals here. It was an absolute treat 😊

Amazing stay at Buffelsdrift - beautiful glamping experience with luxury tents with wooden finishes, a bath tub and outdoor shower, air con and great views of a dam hosting hippos, terrapin (fresh water turtles) and lots of ducks. You will find buck grazing in the gardens. Staff are friendly and efficient. We went on a 2 hour game drive where we saw giraffe, various buck, rhino, buffalo, zebra and jackals. They also have lions and elephants in separate enclosures and cheetahs have their own 1500 hectares. The food in the restaurant is delicious. I recommend.

This place was the highlight of our two weeks holiday in South Africa! I cannot recommend this enough. We spent two nights there but we only wish we have stayed more. The luxurious tents, the atentive staff, very good food and the extremely interesting safari activities made us feel in a bubble all the time we stayed there. Once you enter the gates of the property, get ready for simply an amazing experience. Animals are in their natural habitat and roam freely, without being caged. The Lodge is continuosly doing conservation projects to rescue wild animals and to ensure continuation of their species. We learned so many things and we felt safe the whole time. This is a must go for sure!

We stopped for lunch at the restaurant on a day out to Oudtshoorn. Lovely setting on a lake with antelope visible under the trees on the far shore. Lunch was enjoyable and more than ample.

We stayed in a waterfront tent for 3 nights. The location is amazing with animals grazing next to your tent and we saw the hippos playing only 10m away from our sunbeds. The resort is very well maintained and the tests are superb. Felt like an African explorer from 200 years ago but with everything you need for glamping ;) We did 3 safaris, the lion feeding, night drive, and the meetkat safari (which was the Best!!!). Safari guides are super knowledgeable! The only issue we had is the food which is not very tasty compared to other lodges in SA in that price range. Please hire a good chef to make this a true **** experience!!!

incredible staff and incredible food. The animals are treated with the upmost care and the spacious reserve lets them live like in the wild. We all were big fans and will definitely come back!

We had an incredible stay here in one of the tents by the watering hole. We did two safaris and the elephant experience which were both fantastic. We seen lots of animals 🦓🦒🦏🐘 The tour guides were great and seemed really passionate about what they do which was so nice. They were all very informative, sharing different knowledge which kept it really interesting. Looking out to a giraffe walking past our tent was the highlight of our trip 🦒 The staff were all really helpful and friendly especially Monique on reception and the restaurant staff. The tents were beautiful. The hippos right by our tent kept us very entertained 🦛 A great experience for our first trip to South Africa.

We didn't stay at the game lodge. We just went to do have the elephant experience and what an amazing experience. Something to do at least once if you can. It was very informative and just wow. The guides were great and we loved every moment of the experience. I think it's great that you can go and do these kind of experiences without having to stay at the game lodge which could be a bit much for the locals.

The best stay ever! We did both morning and late evening bush safari, the personnel was ultra friendly and knowledgeable. Animals are obviously stunning, and you can see that they ate being really taken care of here in the kindest and most attentive way. The tents are in super state, bathroom are just a dream, there is an outside shower as well as a bathtub. The food is amazing. PS Don’t hesitate taking the evening safari, we personally preferred it more, the experience is more unique and special.

Loved my stay at Buffelsdrift. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Didn't get to see much on my game drive as it was raining and visibility was low, but such is life when game viewing. If you have an aversion to creepy crawlies the accommodation might freak you out but you probably should be booking into tented accommodation in the first place. The elephant experience was incredible.

Excellent service upon our arrival. Picked up by a driver with a gold card who took us to the reception. Did all the formalities and took us to our room with the gold card. Back & neck massages for some muscle and spiritual healing. The rooms view was excellent with wildlife on our doorstep. Great food and friendly service.

We stayed at Buffelsdrift for one night on our garden route trip. We utilised one of the online specials which included the elephant experience. Our tent was beautifully furnished with a bath for 2 and an outdoor shower, the room was heated when we returned from dinner. We enjoyed the whole experience especially the elephant encounter. The game drive I felt was a bit lacking as there wasn’t much game to view, there wasn’t much mention of the flora either (the ranger did not seem very experienced). Dinner and breakfast were good. I forgot my charger and reception organised for it to be couriered to me. We enjoyed our stop over at Buffelsdrift and would recommend it.

We had lunch there and the view and game made it such a good stop. The Burgers were great tasting although smaller than the last time we were there. Due to a function our service was a bit slow but definitively worth another visit.

5 star treatment from stepping in to reception until the end. Nothing is too much for staff, always smiling and making sure you are well looked after. Thank you for making our stay so awesome.

We had a great visit here and stayed in the luxury tents at the dam. In the morning we saw the elephants taking a bath. The safari drive was amazing. In the morning we did the elephant feeding, which was an amazing experience.

We are privileged to have stayed in some of the top game lodges in Africa, a perk of my wife working in that industry. I have to say I was impressed by Buffelsdrift. It had the feel of the top end lodges, but without the hefty price tag. For cash-strapped South Africans, most of who can't afford $1000 per person per night at the exclusive lodges, Buffelsdrift offers an affordable alternative. Food, hospitality, service, accommodation were all top-notch. Although this is not a 'Big 5' lodge, we saw quite a few animals on our drives and were more than happy with the experience. A great place to go if you have never been on a safari before and want to get a taste of what it's about. Well done Buffelsdrift, we will be back.
