The most overrated hotel we‘ve been so far. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Within the room a few things were broken. On their homepage they have a nice breakfast menu but only a basic buffet was served. The breakfast even wasn’t ready at 7:30 as planned. The table cloth were dirty and obviously still from the night before. The staff wasn’t helpful at all and wanted to leave us standing outside in the rain if we wouldn’t have asked to wait inside until breakfast is ready. At the pool there were only a up to 10 loungers and we asked for a place to lie on but the staff did not help. So we needed to lie on the lawn. We asked for four towels but only received two. The view is nice and the rooms are ok. Every evening you get club music with a lot of bass. As soon as the boss is around the staff acts very friendly.

Nice place, but the room they gave me has absolutely no windows that allow even a glimpse of of the stunningly beautiful views of the Klein Karoo. Other rooms have sliding doors with magnificent views and outside seating areas, while mine has a view into the hallway, with a wooden partition so that my neighbour and I can’t stare at each other. What sort of architect would build rooms in such a great location, and ensure that the view is restricted to the point of not knowing if it is day or night, or if the room is in Oudtshoorn or Manhattan? Other than that a nice place with friendly staff, reasonable food, and nice facilities, but given my experience I won’t be staying here again.

Had supper there on Thursday, service very slow, starters, olives and ostrich sushi took ages, mains, burgers were cold and dry, ostrich steak reasonable but not great. Disappointing overall.

The Parkrun route that goes through the olive groves is absolutely stunning. Thank you Surval Boutique Olive Estate for making this route possible. We feel incredibly fortunate  to be able to take tadvantage of everything  your lovely Estate has to offer while traversing through the olive groves. And the agricultural stretches of land and water's edge make for a tranquil and serene environment. Making it one of the most beautiful Parkrun routes in South Africa. Note to self: Reward your self with a Parkrunner's breakie. The estate is stunning and the staff are helpful and friendly. We had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious dinner while listening to the sound of an owl in the background. The menu was exquisite, and the beef fillet with their speciality topping: Rosemary, roasted garlic and oregano butter and sauce: Brandy & black pepper sauce with Parmesan patato chips our favroute. We top off the night with "Caramel  waffle with banana, caramel and homemade fudge" absolutely divine. Surval Boutique Olive Estate is a country estate like no other.  The ever-changing canvas of mountain and valley scenery is truly breathtaking, whether you partaking in a Parkrun, having a picnic, enjoying a dinner, having breakfast of dancing beneath the stars. We highly recommend this estate for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. If you're looking for the perfect venue for your fairy tale wedding, look no further than Surval Boutique Olive Estate. The Swartberg Mountain range provides a stunning backdrop for your special day and the lodging for guests is just as beautiful. We will undoubtedly return to take in more of this breathtaking landscape while participating in our Parkrun.

Was ok, wifi doesn't work in the family rooms which is great when you have kids 🙄 promised to have it sorted but wasn't. Wifi works perfectly at reception and in restaurant though. Breakfast was so so, glad we only stayed 1 night

We eat at Surval at least 3 times per month The menu needs to change as its now boring! When their is a conference they dont bother with guests in the restaurant..went for lunch today..no one in sight..we seated ourselves and had to go find a waiter...no luck After 20 minutes of not seeing anyone 2 waiters brought food to another table and then I could get their attention. The excuse..we busy with a conference. When conference finished the cleaning started with staff talking on full volume..well needless to say..the crude language from some was disgusting..I could not believe the way they carried on. The shift changed and the waiter changed..The “new” waiter did not bother to introduce himself and was nowhere. The food was nothing special and the deserts for sure not freshly made..tasted like it was in fridge for a few days They need a trained manager that knows how to keep things together..maybe their is one sitting hidden somewhere in a office.

What a GRIM place. As for Boutique it’s no more Boutique than I’m SA! Grotty dreary, place. Broken shredded cheap plastic furniture bulk purchased from the roadside. Filthy dirty pool. A slug wouldn’t go in there. The chemicals required to clean it would render it unusable for a year. Smoke alarm in room removed, broken fountains everywhere. Don’t get me started on the grim dreary rooms. Apparently done by a woman sitting in Joburg. With luck out of a job. Go check out the opposition love is all I can say. Grotty dirty fake leather seating. The bathroom was no better than a cow shed. What a dump. Couldn’t get out fast enough. Absolutely we wouldn’t have eaten there. Did not have breakfast in that plastic grotty excuse for a dining room. I should have done my homework better prior but the online images are very misleading. No one’s called me from the hotel. We want a full refund for tonight as are moving onto our next hotel in Nisna where we have stayed before and they have fitted us in. Thank god. Please read report left for the hotel in the photo section. Trailfinders will not be using this place again if I have anything to do with it. English expect better than this grotty dump. Clearly the owners too afraid to contact us- ashamed no doubt. Poor staff, felt sorry for them they did their best but you can’t make good what’s obviously a cash cow to some disinterested owner. This place needs to be closed.

We spend the evening in their restaurant with friends. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, service, and atmosphere. What a great place to have an upper-class meal.

Friendly and helpful staff, delicious food at the Su Casa restaurant and very clean and beautiful rooms, with lovely finishes and comfortable beds; the family rooms are however built in a way that there are no windows in the bedrooms and this can get too hot when there is loadshedding and aircons don't work. Also the back up power/generator was a bit of a problem during some hours and thus the aircon and Wi-Fi wasn't available during loadshedding and this was unfavorable during stage 6 loadshedding 😞 But overall we had a lovely stay and I would certainly recommend this place if you're in the area.

We had one amazing experience and ultimately had our wedding at Surval. Ashleigh is incredible at what she does - super calm under pressure and her planning is exceptional. No issues with loadshedding - generator in place. Aircons, clean sheets, clean towels - and what I don’t see often at hotels which they had, is a sewing and vanity kit. All round great process from start to finish!

Booked and paid for two rooms. My wife and I had the bigger Don Carlo family room. Although it generally looks good, the bathroom and specifically the shower looks very bad and needs a good cleaning or something. There seems to be black mold on the shower floor and the tiles on the walls. There is also water damage at the bathroom door at the bottom on both sides. Breakfast is noway near what you see on their website. It is very average and I think most mid-level restaurants serve a better breakfast. I booked a breakfast table for our 30th wedding anniversary and when we got there, it was taken and the staff had to push two tables together for us and our friends to make things work so that was a big letdown. A beautiful place but can be improved and better managed so that simple requests like ours get attended to.

The room set up didn't work for us as the bathrooms had no doors and the upstairs bedroom was not separated from the downstairs bedroom by any doors either. The rug was made of animal skin. The shower was made of stone so it was very cold for the winter and also had no door. However, the food in the restaurant was really nice and the staff were helpful. It is also in a lovely setting.

I have never been to a hotel where the staff was more helpful and accommodating than this one. What a lovely experience! Very good location to visit the Caves and much more. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are stunning with the most breathtaking views. We will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends!

Maybe it was that the running of everything - from check-in to waitering to barman duties - at the Surval Boutique Olive Estate was left to only one person while the rest of the staff, including the chefs, took the weekend off because I can rate our disappointing experience as a two star: A ⭐ for Jacques Boshoff who tried his best to be attentive and another ⭐ for the muesli at breakfast. ✔ for a lovely big bed and soft pillows ❌ for the 2 sachets (only two!) of coffee in the room (rusks or biscotti would be a welcome addition to the morning coffee tray) ❌ for a shower that was clogged and eventually overflowed ✔ for a lovely olive tasting platter - the olive chutney is seriously good! ❌ cold calamari and chips are never enjoyable ❌ the veggies that were served with the pepper-crusted steak... I have no words. It was so bad. Was it a packet of mixed frozen veggies that was quickly popped into the microwave? No salt, no taste, no imagination. Bland and boring. ❌ Waffles need to be crispy on outside and fluffy on the inside. A dry waffle is a waffle that needs to be chucked in the bin because no amount of syrup will fix it. Please also keep in mind that some guests prefer cream with their waffles and a "sorry but we only have ice cream" when you serve it will not do. Tell people beforehand. ❌ No juice at breakfast table. ❌ Table not set up for dinner and breakfast. We had to ask at reception for cutlery. ❌ Such a lovely big fireplace in the bar area - how about lighting it to create a welcoming ambience when you expect guests for dinner? It was cold, we had to light the fire ourselves, and then we were told there is no more wood. ❌ Eggs Benedict are usually served with a dollop or two Hollandaise sauce. Although the eggs were perfectly poached, the breakfast was swimming in a watery mustard-flavoured sauce that probably came from a squeezy bottle of buy one get one free cheap imitation sauce. About 3 months ago we had our daughters wedding at Surval. The venue and location was beautiful. When we planned the Wedding, the wedding coordinator was helpfull, and assured us just positivity. She was the person we discussed and planned all arrangements. She was also to be our right hand with any issues on the day of the wedding. As Covid restrictions were to be encountered with, the wedding coordinator said it was to be a private function, and no other guests were being allowed.. Paying for a second venue in the premises, we were looking forward to have cocktails at one venue, and the wedding celebrations at the main venue. . We were received proffensionally with all covid protocol in place. Drinks and snacks were served. As parents of the bride, we wanted to sort one or two things out, but the wedding coordinator was nowhere to be found. But, it was minor problems at that stage. Everybody enjoyed the sitting outside untill the wedding couple arrived. We moved to the main hall, and had all the formalities. Supper time, no salad plates were available. We were told to re-use our starter plates for the salads. Again no wedding coordinator to discuss the problem. The waitors assisted us immediately. There after minor issues we wanted to arrange and sort out, no wedding coordinator. The waiters and barman assisted where they could. Just after supper, we noted our original 2nd vevue we paid for, was used for other facilities, and other guests and their children, that had nothing to do with the wedding, were just outside our venue and all over. We decided not to make an issue about it, and just enjoy the wedding. Later the evening, the coffee was finished. No wedding coordinator again. The barmen assisted, and got more coffee from the kitchen. Every time I went to look for the wedding coordinator, she was nowhere to be found. I was eventually band from entering the kitchen door to try and find assistance by a young male waitor. Just before closing, a lot of the wedding cake was left on the table. I asked the male waitor if he had empty beer boxes or if I could borrow 2 trays to pack the sliced cake in, as to prevent it drying out overnight. The waitor returned with 3 take away containers.. After not solving and getting propper assistance, I eventually found the wedding coordinater and the main chef. Immediately the main chef got three trays, packed the cake up nicely, and glad wrapped it all for us. The help we got from the main chef, was great... Pity she could be around to assist all evening...... I also think enough has been said now.. Let me conclude. The barmen were great and proffensional. The waitors, thinking back, I feel with them, as they were great, wanted to assist where ever they could when problems occurred. The barmen and waitors were friendly, and were the ones sorting out problems. Thank you to you all. The main cheff tried to assist in the background where she could, and helped with a smile. Also a big thank you. It is just sad, the wedding coordinator, and NO management was around to assist when we so badly needed them. NO management... It was all left to a wedding coordinator, and the main chef. Everybody enjoyed the wedding, so did we as parents. Thinking back, it was just sad that we as parents hardly had a wedding coordinator to solve issues on the evening of the wedding, whom originally was the person we planned the wedding with.
