Let me be blunt, this review score of 4.4 is not 'The Actors.' The score is the Marlborough's that 'The Actors' have for some reason felt necessary to take for their own, despite being a completely new and separate business. Not only has another long-standing and vital lgbt pub and venue been gentrified and had its history and clientele sanded away, but they have the gall to try and rest on its laurels too. Shameless.

The premier femme space in Brighton. The pub is lovely, the staff are amazing, the best spot for a good ole gay time. The recent refurb has updated and refreshed the interior but the clientele and inclusive atmosphere remain the same.

The lady with the green hair felt obliged to humiliate me in front of all my new uni friends because I took one sip of cider without showing her my ID, I’m 24 btw with lots of tattoos. Yeah I understand it’s not “protocol” but come on, she didn’t have to humiliate me and insult my intelligence in front of the whole group, because I took a sip in front of her. I honestly didn’t think it was a huge deal as it was a sip of berry cider! I wouldn’t of been so insulted if she was polite about it, that’s just basic customer service. Being condescending doesn’t get you anywhere. I won’t be coming back and nor will my friends.

Somewhere that is genuinely L & T friendly and not just G & B. Very cosy and nice atmosphere. Really nice to be able to go to an LGBT friendly pub and not a bar. I have mobility issues and use a cane and this place is very accessible bar a few stairs into the entrance.

The first time we were due to visit The Amsterdam we were thwarted by a problem with the electricity in the kitchen so our booking was cancelled. So we thought we would try again. We visited on a Friday night and settled to look at the menu in the restaurant side of the pub. The new décor was really nice but it was a little chilly in there but we hoped things would improve with some food. However our first 3 choices were not available !! No steaks or pies available on a Friday night. We were told they had a steak night during the week when the steaks had been sold. Surely you can buy some more - you have freezers I'm sure to store them in and surely you shouldn't be running out of food on one of your busiest nights of the week ! We made alternative choices and the food was good when it arrived after only a short wait. We moved into the other bar after eating and it was much warmer and cosier in there. Our only other gripe was the price of Peroni - way too expensive for Shoreham at £4.90. Oh and we did get someone else's drink on our bill but we will write that off as a mistake as this was quickly rectified when pointed out.

Really nice place, especially for the queer community. Felt very welcoming, warm and friendly. Lots of nice smiles exchanged between strangers. It does get cramped on weekends and during events so be aware of that if you struggle with crowds. Pizzas are reasonably priced (didn't eat but saw others order food and it looked good) but honestly feel a little scammed to pay £6.35 for a bottle of cider.

We've been here a couple of times for a pint or two during an afternoon stroll round Brighton. Slightly off the road location from the Steine, so we found it by accident the first time - lucky us! The staff are excellent and always very chatty. Pub has been quiet when we've been in, the next visit has to be so we can enjoy what the theatre has to offer. Toilets here are transgender, but not a problem as they are very well maintained.

I've been to the Marly with friends to see some of their shows several times; it's always been busy, but friendly. The staff never seem to stop moving and, even when the place is packed out, they are always polite. The venue upstairs is old, but adequate; it can get quite claustrophobic in there during the summer, as the aircon isn't the best. The loos are non-gendered, old but kept clean and well stocked with toilet paper. And the food looks good although I haven't tried it myself. It's not as central as some bars as it's on the left as you approach the seafront/Pavillion, which means it misses out on some of the less appealing parts of the nightlife, but that's a bonus in my opinion. I'd happily go back any time I'm in Brighton.

We popped in for a quick drink on a Friday night, it is a cosy pub, gay friendly and staff are very friendly. Theres a pool table in the back, nice drinks but not much room to sit. the DJ was good, played good music and played requests quickly. Would definitely recommend!

Very welcoming LGBTQ venue. Perfect for quieter drinks with small groups. There's also lots of fantastic regular events.

Very POC safe and welcoming place. Hard working, Joe the manager and his cool team are very well organised and have created an excellent and outstanding pub. They do lots of variety of events and entertainments to cater to different tastes from music, dance, poetry, theatre, markets and many more. I'm very impressed with the high quality of the acts, musicians and DJs that they put on for their themed events. Black Brighton Market is one of my favourite and highly recommended monthly event to attend at the pub alongside the weekly open mics. Well done to Joe and the team at the Actors. Keep up the great work!.

Love everyone here in everyway. Forever. It’s nice and life affirming to still have a home or a safe(r) LGBTQIA+ inclusive accessible space, that isn’t flooded with Cis-hets as their local trend! Massive love and strength xX

We came to the Actors after my partner finished the Brighton Marathon. I was in touch with Joe the manager beforehand as I wanted to ensure we had a place booked as I knew Brighton would be busy. Joe's communication was great and he was flexible with our booking time as it's hard to predict on Marathon day. I am so glad we decided to go to the Actors, we were a large group and we have a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the pizza was great. We will be back!

I went here in connection with the Brighton Fringe and saw two shows. The venue itself is eclectic and friendly, decent selection of beer and lots of vegan options if you are into that. Not huge though and a bit cramped. Never the less, I'm a fan and would definitely go again.

Really nice place with different activities all over the month. Inclusive welcoming environment and staff. They do amazing dance classes by BLK Diamond Dance, Afrobeat and other sorts of music nights. They also host other events. Recommended.
