I liked it but a bit too rustic for me. I'm more of a soft seats and table cloth person. But I see what they have achieved here an atmosphere of an old fishing shack - nice. The hake was good - too much sauce on the snails for me but a nice sauce. Delicious decadent chocolate mud, of which half I took home. Nice filtered coffee to end an enjoyable meal.

We have had breakfast here a couple of times while traveling between Knysna and Cape town. Every time we have been a bit early before they opened, and every time they invited us in to sit and wait inside and wait for the kitchen to open. The food is good and the coffee is warm. Wonderful view out over the bay.

Loved this place!! The food is good and the waiters are friendly. I love that they have the baskets where you can get a variety of things. The pictures attached are of the Ocean Basket with an extra order of mussels on the side. The chips were okay but everything else was 100%!

Service was ok. Food is not great. One would think the sea food would be fresh... i had the platter...mussels was powdery. prawns, you can taste the freezer burn on them. calamari, don't let it get cold, the batter becomes rubbery never had that happen before. hake of all things was not fresh.

We recently had the opportunity to dine at your restaurant and unfortunately, we must say that our experience was not a positive one. The food we ordered, specifically the Linefish (Dorado) for R150 with an additional salad for R25, was not worth the price we paid. The fish was dry and lacked flavor, and the salad was not enjoyable at all. It was disappointing to have such a lackluster meal, especially as this was our first visit to your restaurant. Regrettably, we cannot recommend it to others. The only highlight of our dining experience was the view, which was beautiful. However, the quality of the food did not match up to the prices charged. I hope you take this feedback constructively and use it to improve the dining experience for future customers.

We had lunch at The Sea Gypsy Restaurant today. The food was very good and our waiter was very helpful and friendly. It is a very nice restaurant. Will go there again.

I ordered the calamari and rice. My husband had the chicken burger. We both loved the meal. The service was super quick,food delicious and atmosphere calm by the sea side. The staff is hard working and attentive.All the best guys..see you soon!

Whoever rates this place with 4* or even higher, must have had a far better experience than we had. The oysters @R22 each were like cardboard. And the signature dish the gypsy combo is all reheated or microwaved and served on a worn out tray. We couldn’t eat what was served, just had the drinks, paid our R800 bill, left and went for some decent food. How this place got this high rating on google is a massive mystery to me. I’ll never go back even if this is the last place in MosselBay serving food, I’d rather starve. Update: we actually got sick shortly after visiting this place.

Worst food Ive ever had! Presentation horrible. Mussels with a thick sweet bechamel sauce. I tried one and send it back...horrible. Prawns were definitely frozen and steamed, not grilled....no sauce, butter anything. Preserved garlic sprinkled over and garnished with a limp brown piece of cucumber. Rice was raw. Chips was the frozen shoestring fries half cooked and floating in oil. Disgusting meal. And at R225 per head for lunch, not cheap either. Bathrooms rudimentary. Friendly waiters. Nice setting, just dont eat here.

We were greeted with a friendly smile at the door and seated at a table with a spectacular view. Once we placed our orders for drinks, we hardlt waited before having drinks. Our waitress did not bother us and was there exactly when she needed to be. When we were ready to order food, we placed an order and didn't even wait for 15 minutes to get our food. The food, specially seafood was out of this world! By far the best meal we had while visiting Mosselbay. The condiments on the table was great and we had a perfect dining experience overall. Compliments to our lovely waiter, the chef and the owner for this gem of a dining spot! PS: I was astonished by the seagulls that greeted me at the window and it made for a great laugh..

A great vibe. Delicious fresh seafood. Great wine. The staff were friendly and really engaging.

This place really serves the freshes seafood in town. We stopped by as we were on a road trip. Good and fast services. You know that when you're on the road and still rushing somewhere you want to be served the best and the quickest.

We had lunch here on Tuesday 3 November. Rustic down to earth venue. Service excellent. We had to try the best..hake and chips. Totally blown away with the tasty food. Location awesome, overlooking the bay with the seagull keeping us company just outside our window. A must visit if you want the real deal fish and chips.

The quality of the food and the bill is surely not aligned. Had better fish and chips inland than here. By the looks of things the opposition down the road is having far more attraction. Pitty we did not rather go there!

Amazing service! We are here in the midst of December holiday and the service was fast. We ordered the Gypsy Platter and the food was amazing! Our waiter Ilze was awesome!

The staff are wonderful and welcoming. I don't believe this applies to all their food, but the dish I had unfortunately gave me food poisoning.

Very satisfying seafood, yummy baskets and fair prices right there on the water. Bathrooms are tiny, but effective. Staff was really nice and professional and someone even brought water for our Labrador. Will go back anytime.

We only had dessert (chocolate mud pudding - which was amazing). What a lovely view to eat some delicious chocolate pudding.

Fantastic service and food. Huge portions and reasonably priced. Kid friendly and dog friendly. Can't remember the waitress' name, but I'm sure Taco will remember her when he sees her again...
