We have done 6 safaris in the last 3 months and we started our with 7 days at Botlierskop. After experiencing many others I have to say that they were the best one we did. The elephants walked by our room one afternoon, we saw a cheetah try to hunt down dinner for herself and her 3 cubs, we did a 2 hour horse back ride safari every day, we saw the male Lion roar and the elephants play. It was truly and unforgettable experience in a stunning location. Our guides were the best we had out of all of our game drives.

I tried a day safari and it was nice except the vehicle we rode a large truck which was extremely uncomfortable. You will bounce violently for the smallest bumps. If you do not hold tightly you might fall outside. It was a cumbersome 4 hours journey. The guide was very nice but the vehicle is for commercial use not for humans. Now I am suffering from bad back pain. If I was aware I would not take this ride. The people who rode the land cruiser were better off given its moderate elevation from the ground unlike the truck. Also the Land Cruiser seats more comfortable than the truck seats. I don’t know based on what they have chosen this vehicle for us. What caughted my attention is the passengers in the three land-cruisers were Europeans while all passengers in the truck were Arabs……..!!!!!

I stayed here back in 2015 and had the most amazing time. The staff were so incredibly kind. I asked in passing if they had soy milk and they said no, which would’ve been totally fine. The next day, they tell me someone left the reserve to go buy some. I never expected them to go out of their way to do this and yet they did. I was blown away by how kind and friendly all the staff were. On top of that, the reserve is stunning and the accommodations are quite literally perfect. The food was some of the best food I’ve ever had. I would come back here in a heartbeat and have recommended it to anyone considering going to SA.

The room was amazing but the service was not meeting the expectations!! I noticed that Andrea at the reception could benefit from a friendlier demeanor and more attentiveness when addressing customer inquiries. For the safari, the horse safari was the best! Hazy was a good tour guide and highly recommended! However, for the normal one (with car) it a bit boring and here is why: - We spent a round 1 1/2 hrs looking for the lions as there were only 2 in the whole resort. Eventually, they gave up and they say it’s a bad luck! They might be hiding somewhere. Totally not acceptable. Drones or tracker can be utilized to locate the animals if finding them is a struggle. One easy solution is to send one or two cars to locate the animals before the actual tour stars to save people time. Finally, the Spa was not available due to a fire incident.

We went for a morning safari drive and it was amazing! Silas is an incredibly passionate and knowledgeable guide. We saw all four of the big 5 that they have! Amazing encounter with elephants, and we saw two giraffes which was my highlight. Also we spied two hippos in the water. We had lunch afterwards and watched the rhino herd playing in the field in front of us. Incredible experience!

Stayed one night in the tented suite, full board. Food was really good and quality. Room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we had some a rainy day so couldn’t enjoy the pool. Best part was our game drives with Andre. He was kind, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. He catered to our wants and we so appreciated him. If you are lucky enough to have him as a guide, you’ll have a great experience.

Visited only for the game drive which was amazing. We were lucky to see all the animals and our driver, Mandela, went above and to ensure we see as much as possible. Didn't stat but the place looks amazing.

My 2 children (age 10 and 15) and I had the most wonderful experience at Botlierskop. The deluxe tent we stayed in was so luxurious with stunning views, the game drives were fun and informative and we saw plenty of animals, the food was delicious and the friendliness of the staff was the cherry on the top. A wonderful family break.

Out of this world!! Really an incredible reserve, my favourite place in SA. We went on the vet safari with an elephant. What a once in a lifetime experience!! Was so cool to be part of the research that they do on p53 gene and to be so close to and help take the blood of the elephant. Would definitely say that was one of the best experiences of my life. Then the rest of the reserve: The views, the hospitality, the game drives, the food and the spa- all amazing! The game is so well looked after, it warms your heart. We saw all the game we wanted to see. The first part we stayed in the executive suites- wow what a spoil!! They are on another level! So beautiful and classy! The second half of we stayed at the bush villas- saw the hippos right across from us in the water! And the spa, oh my word. I have had the privilege of going to a few spas in Cape Town, but honestly, none compare. If you want to feel like a new person, try the half day spa package- it is 3 hours of uninterrupted heaven! My mom, sister and I all 3 went and all 3 our therapists were so talented, it was sensational. This place is stunning, we have made a pact to come back at least once a year!

(Important note): the safari tour is not for people who suffer from back pain unless if you want to break your back, the big Mitsubishi truck isn’t for human use. The Land cruiser seems to be much comfortable. Other than that, the tour guide and the staff is friendly. The tour is amazing you will get to see very beautiful views, the big 4 animals, and many other beautiful creatures.

We had the most wonderful visit. We took advantage of the winter special – the Cape Robin package. We were blown away with the professionalism and friendliness of all of staff and commented on this between ourselves several times - everybody seemed genuinely happy to be working there so all credit to the management! We look forward to visiting again in the future.

We went here for our baby-moon and had a great time. We stayed for 4 nights and it was incredibly restful. We stayed in the Deluxe tented rooms, and they were beautiful with an indoor and outdoor shower, beautiful big bed and doors opening up to a beautiful view. We even had some monkeys entertain us for a while (thankfully the door was closed at this point). The game was great and we enjoyed our drive with a very knowledgeable ranger. The spa facilities were fantastic, and the treatments were amazing. They even have pregnancy massages. The only downfall for us was the food, especially dinner. We just felt like the food could have been better quality (in particular the non-meat options) and had a bit more variety for the price point. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back in the future.

My girlfriend who is from SA booked this game reserve for our anniversary and my birthday. Meals were excellent, service was over the top and our guide on the safari, Mandela, was better than expected. We woke up at about 3:00 a.m. to several African Buffalo munching on grass outside of our villa. This Game reserve is easily a 5-star resort all around without a doubt. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is near the Garden Route looking for an overnight safari resort.

Bad: 1) Corrugated iron sheeting- not the quietest @ night - I am a light-sleeper. As a visitor just be prepared, because it is what it is. 2) Cockroaches. NOW this discouraged me & is the main reason behind a lower score. Plan A- Fumigation was meant to happen while I went on a game drive @14h30. I postponed my drive due to weather- raining. Reception's plan B - was to have me wait at dining area while they Fumigate. And this inconvenience I refused. Room alternatives are available for upscaling just not when a client has a problem with the room. 3) Trusted with everything in a superior tented suite - room 24, just not with loose bath soap/shampoo/gel, therefore I could not enjoy bubble bath on the tub. 4) No kids appropriate gown & slip-on. 5) No microwave - room service food must find you ready to eat before cold. Also the roaches🪳 will help themselves. Good: 1) Aesthetics -- as advertised. 2) No iron - brought on request 3) Warm Welcome from gents at the door & cart driver - Collin😊. My Entire stay, I felt welcomed whenever I came across their employees. I got one hostility event from a few of their visitors @ the SPA warm pool area. 4) Breath of fresh air seeing so many South African employees @ your establishment. 5) King David made sure we see as many animals as possible. Shout-out to him!!! Saw antelopes, rhino, lions, zebras & giraffes. Suggestion: 1) Due to cockroaches presence possibility- give kitchen soap and cloth as standard. 2) Consider offering selected SPA options for room service.

We stayed at The Village this past weekend. Rooms are lovely. Food was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant and play area is great for kids. Definitely recommend The Village at Botlietskop for a nice family weekend.

Even though it rained nearly every minute we were there, we absolutely loved Botlierskop. From the accommodation to meals to safari drives, everything was outstanding. We wished we could have stayed longer than the three days we had here, and Botlierskop is on our list of to-return places in South Africa.

  • 5/5 kay b. 9 months ago on Google
Botlierskop is a little piece of heaven. The staff are awesome, welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Can’t fault it. And the Executive Tent!..no words except out of this world. Only negative is we had to leave after 2 nights….could’ve stayed a week!! Fabulous!! 3rd visit and we most definitely WILL be back!

It was my husbands first trip to South Africa and this was the best experience for him. We stayed at Villa 5 at the Bush Villas and had some amazing views over two dams, where the animals came along at night. The villa is beautifully decorated and very well stocked. We had two game drives, afternoon and morning and they were so good. Our guides were amazing and they made so much effort to track down all the animals for us. We saw them all and is something I’ll always remember. Highly recommend.

My partner and i spent 3 days at the game reserve in the executive tented suite and all i can say is WOW ! Absolutely amazing. The staff are amazing, the spa is fantastic and the restaurant even better! We even enjoyed a safari drive which was the highlight of my stay, our tour guide was phenomenal (king david) and the 3 hour drive was extremely comfortable and scenic with a few dumpy rides here and there… i mean after all , you are in the wild .. ;) 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone and everyone! Xx

I recently took the sunset game drive, and what an exhilarating experience. We saw so much wildlife. Our guide Jayme was fantastic. So knowledgeable, professional and entertaining. A first class facility with first class staff. Definitely a must do when in S Africa.

The safari experience was excellent. Staying in the tent room was a luxurious experience: my first time in a Safari and my first time in Africa. The reserve has lots of animals to see. Our tour guide, Rico, did a fantastic job taking us this morning on our game drive. We went above and beyond; he took the time to explain a lot of details and took us to get the best spots for the Animals in the reserve. Unfortunately, the lion didn't want to show up for our rise today; however, the Chita spotting was a few steps away from us. I highly recommend this place.

The most amazing experience we had during our trip to South Africa. As we were on our honeymoon we chose one of the luxury tented rooms and it was amazing! The service and game guides were so nice and kind. There is a lot to do around the reserve, food is great and the animals of course are amazing. The feeling of eating breakfast with a view to the bush, seeing elephants and rhinos Infront of you, is unbelievable!

  • 5/5 Richard L. 1 year ago on Google
What a fantastic piece of paradise located in our very own country. The scenery was breathtaking, the accommodation was cosy, the food was to die for and the service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend Botlierskop as a destination for a weekend (or a week) getaway, as the game drives, the nature and the spa will give you a much needed break from your busy life. Definitely worth recharging yourself here. I really hope to return one day!

Wow, just wow! From the minute you arrive until you leave the staff just can’t do enough for you. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. We stayed in the deluxe tented accommodation which was just divine. Really private, lovely 180 deg views from everywhere including the outdoor shower. We enjoyed 2 game drives with Silas who’s knowledge is just epic. We loved his stories and his passion for his subject. We also challenged ourselves and did the horseback safari with Jeandre which again was an incredible experience - we got up close and personal with rhinos and elephants and lots of the other animals that are there. We enjoyed a fantastic picnic down at the picnic spot and an afternoon lazing around the beautiful pool from where we watched the rhinos wallowing in the mud down below us - just amazing. If you want pure luxury and a bit of wildlife thrown in then go here, it’s one of the best places we’ve ever been.

What an excellent experience! Went on the 1 hour safari horse ride! Absolutely breathtaking views and we got to see so many species of wildlife! Horses are well trained and it was overall such a pleasant experiences. Our guide Dezzi was also a very good guide!

An absolutely unforgettable holiday! Thank you to the wonderful family of staff, spa, guides, chefs and management who welcomed us and made our stay so utterly fabulous! The veterinary safari is an experience of a lifetime - thank you for the incredible work you are doing for our wildlife! We will most definitely be back!

Botlierskop was a memorable day out with the family, the reserve was beautiful and driving round in the truck was a real adventure. Our guide, Jame, was the perfect person to guide us through the reserve. He answered all of our questions with passion, humour and with him we were able to see all 4 of the big 5 animals Botlierskop have, giraffes too! A must if you’re in the area.

An absolutely incredible experience at this wonderful game reserve. From the accommodation to the staff everything was exceptional. Silas the guide for our game drive was so knowledgeable and gave us so much interesting information. Will be back for sure

Did not expect to see that many animals on this 3.5hrs Sunset Game Drive. Our guide Jame did not give up until he found the kings of the jungle 🦁. Plus did we see many other beautiful creatures 🦓🦒🦏. I highly reccommend this tour for people looking for nature but cannot stay longer. Thanks to Jame for sharing all the information. You did a great job!

We stayed for 2 nights. Everything was perfect. The people who work there were nice and kind. The executive suit was AMAZING 🤩 with a breathtaking view. The safari trip with a professional driver make the trip wonderful. The food is delicious and assorted. If there is more than 5 stars I will give them. (THANK YOU) TO ALL PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE . Sure I will come back to this place again and again.

Botlierskop is the gem of the Garden Route. We celebrated my birthday there, with a two night stay, and from hello to goodbye we received exceptionally good service. The tented accommodation was super luxurious and comfortable. The game drive an awesome experience with animal sightings we will never forget. The food is super delicious and makes an all round wonderful holiday. A place with an incredible location, that we most definitely recommend and will return to. Worth every cent

We booked a game drive and lunch for a day visit and everything was wonderful. The staff are professional and welcoming, and Nyasha was an excellent guide and very informative about the wildlife. We saw so many different animals including Cheetah, Lion, and Elephant despite it being a rainy day. The food was delicious, keep up the good work, we will definitely be back again.

Everything about this establishment was EXTRA AMAZING! The staff is friendly and helpful (all of them) but Admirer takes the cup. Our guide for the game drive was Ilias, he’s very knowledgeable, full of jokes and professional. I was there with my mom and my 6 year old son and we honestly cannot wait to come back. Your space is peaceful. It screams luxury. Very well done Botlierskop team!!!

Was a very warm welcome from Colin at Reception who gave us a complete overview of the facilities and our game/Spa bookings for the stay. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and really luxurious with a beautiful view of the reserve. The food was great with a varied selection and good service. Enjoyed sitting in the lounge next to the large fire with a sundowner. The game drive was good and we were pleasantly surprised to see black Impala which is a rarity. We indulged ourselves with a hot stone full body massage which rounded off a memorable 25th wedding anniversary.

Been to Kruger before and really drove a lot to try and spot the big 5 from early morning but never succeeded to see all of them. With the 3 hours safaris drive in the private game reserve things were much more easy. Got to witness all the animals present on the reserve. The place has self catering accommodation available as well.

  • 4/5 Rick R. 1 year ago on Google
We went for a day visit and the afternoon game drive. Food at the restaurant is okay and but overpriced. Overall the game drive is nice. But you have to remember that this is not a truly wild experience. Although animals are free to roam and eat whatever they want. You can get really close to Rhinos and Giraffes and even lions (Park currently has 3). The drive itself is quite pleasant and guides are knowledgeable.

  • 5/5 Jessi B. 1 year ago on Google
We went on a day game drive and Simba was our guide. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all the animals in the park, not only their species but those specific animal stories as well. He made the experience so much better than it would be if we were just driving around and was so funny! The park is well looked after and you can tell they really care about the conservation of the animals and letting them be as natural as they can. Would highly recommend! The villas look amazing and I would definitely come back and stay if I'm I'm the area ever again!

  • 5/5 Megan S. 1 year ago on Google
One of the most memorable experiences we have ever had to date. Thank you to Simba our ranger who was tremendously involved our safari. All staff at the restaurant who were attentive and devoted to providing a unforgettable experience. The food, out of this world. Best yet was to be able to enjoy the kids area and swimming pool. Do not go past the area without stopping here!

  • 5/5 Paul H. 1 year ago on Google
The accommodation is just fabulous, facing the dam, we had a clear view of hippo's, rhino's, giraffes and all kinds of smaller game. The game drive was very special as the driver was very knowledgeable about the animals, the location, the history and passionate about the future. A perfect choice for our (grand)children and us

  • 5/5 Angelique P. 2 years ago on Google
This place is incredible. The accommodation, the amenities, the food the staff... everything is top notch. I really enjoyed the picnic and the horseback safari but mostly I enjoyed the staff who were very accommodating, friendly and just all round lovely ! We were even lucky enough to get a little visit from the elephants who came so close to our accommodation, it made me weak at the knees from nerves! I've been fortunate enough to visit a few game reserves and this one was by far my favorite!
