Just perfect for us, 4 adults and 2 young children. Wildlife in front of the house, hippo's in the lake and a very comfortable, stylish accomodation.

The Villa is very nice, you will love it!, however, I will not recommend this place for these reasons: - I did not like the view, I can’t see that much, other reserves offer better views. - It was Very disappointing that we did not see many animals in the game drive, it seems that they don’t have a lot of animals, it was a 3-hour Driving adventure rather than seeing animals👎🏻 - The jakozi was dirty! Just have a look to the picture👎🏻 - The difference between check-in and check-out time is around 21 hour! And they are not flexible at all in the check out time! They charged us an extra 500R for an hour👎🏻

I simply can’t tell you enough how lovely this place is. Except make sure if you making your booking that you don’t book Villa no.4 we stayed in Villa no. 5 which had the ideal view between the two (can’t comment on any of the others) but I honestly would have been disappointed had we been booked into Villa no.4. Otherwise just so lovely - we had Rhino almost everyday literally on our doorstep. The Villas are self catering with Bosch dishwashers and staff clean daily too. I loved the large indoor fireplace which was perfect for the rainy days inside and on the sunnier day we arrived we sat outside around the fire pit had a braai and watched the stars. The splash pool perfect for cooling off. Great spot and staff also very efficient. Will definitely be back to try out the larger villas and post my review! Loved this place! A must try spot if you keen to see some game along the garden route!

Summary: Definitely worth a stay as the villas are breathtaking, especially if you get the SA resident rate off-peak (we stayed late August). The service offering/approach needs to improve to reflect the beauty of the lodge, and especially if Botlierskop is to to become a destination in itself - bearing in mind the location. Pros: Villa (we stayed in the Deluxe, Villa 8) is spacious, decorated well and very comfortable. Three large, double and very comfortable bedrooms, all with own bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. The terrace area is breathtaking with a backdrop on a small watering hole and hill where you can watch the sunrise and sunset from a heated plunge pool. The game drivers are exceptionally knowledgeable (shoutout to Robert/Robbie) - we learnt many new facts despite having done many safaris in the past. The restaurant (see comment below) at the main lodge has one of the most amazing views I've seen anywhere, and the breakfast and lunch there is exceptional! Cons: In general, the service approach felt more focused on telling you about the many restrictions e.g., a text on the morning of checkout warning of late checkout fees. We were told we cannot visit the restaurant at the main lodge despite it being near empty, which they eventually permitted us to. The 1,000 ZAR/3h pp game drive, with a strong recommendation to do multiple feels like extortion since the animals are not truly wild. With 4 hours for cleaning, would expect that housekeeping clean under furniture - there was a water bottle under the bed and quite a bit of dirt underneath the furniture.

Just completed our second visit to the Bush Villas and could not have wished for a better experience. The accommodation is first rate, the view over the water hole is stunning and our game drive was superb (although a bit expensive).

Had our own dam in front of our Bush Villa watching hippos play and feed. Buffalo came past and giraffe strolled by and entertained us. Five Star experience.

I must say I was very impressed! We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa. It was beautifully decorated. Very peaceful. Wifi is fast for the staff are so friendly. Animals come to drink in the small water hole right in front of the villa. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature...this is it!

Amazing stay in Villa 3. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family getaway. Although kids can't wonder around the villa, there is enough entertainment if you go to the village lodge and the beach is also nearby! Villas are in front of the watering hole so great experience seeing the hippos graze in the evenings from the jacuzzi. Only issue really was the house service, they do the minimum when it comes to cleaning up (dishes and making beds) but that is hardly anything to complain about really.

Stayed in early October 2018. Wonderful experience staying in the bush villas. Game drives picked us up right from our front door! The interior was absolutely gorgeous and views was from the villa were awesome. We saw zebra, water buck, impala, giraffes on a regular basis. We even saw a hippo sneaking over our watering hole one night and had a rhino eating right next to our fence line (very close to the house). We enjoyed making a fire in our fire place (there was an outdoor pit we didn't use, but looked great). We loved eating at the Bellevue restaurant at the Village Lodge. Our server, Euodia, was excellent. We loved her so much, we went back two nights in a row. The ostrich was out of this world! Our highest compliments to the chef! And the prices (at least for Americans) were so reasonable. We enjoyed a lion walk at Zorgfontein. The lions, Lyla and Mikewa (a rare white lioness), were great. We learned a lot about the lions and enjoyed getting some exercise with them. Our game drive guide, Simba, was AMAZING! His story telling was awesome and we are still telling friends at home here his hilarious stories. This is not a big 5 game reserve, so we did not expect to see the Big 5, but did enjoy seeing many different antelope, monkeys, hippos, elephants, white rhino, etc. Our last day, we all (including my husband) had an "African Goddess" treatment done at the spa. SO RELAXING! (I could hear that my husband feel asleep during his treatment.) And again, incredibly affordable (a 80 minute treatment was ~$55 USD). Would highly recommend Botlierskop and the Bush Villas.

A very luxurious stay with top of the range furniture. Beds were comfortable and we kept the indoor fireplace going throughout the day as it was quite cold. We saw stayed in Villa 1 and saw all these animals from our front porch: hippos, nyala, giraffes, zebras, rhinos and impalas. Had a great stay, was just a bit disappointed with the loft upstairs. The bedside lamp did not work and there was no bin next to the toilet (this should be standard for all female guests). That is my only complaint. Staff were friendly and a breathtaking view.

An amazing way to experience nature in the cozy comfort of a luxury villa. We had rhinos at our doorstep, hippos living in the small lake we were staying on... Herds of impala and gnu walking by.. We went on a sunset Safari, with Silas as our friendly and knowledgeable guide. Saw lions, elephants, many types of antilope, gnu, zebras. 3.5 hours with a nice stop for biltong, snacks and drinks. The next morning we went on a 2.5h bush walk with Innocent as our guide. Saw wild life, everything from impalas to beetles and termites, with lots of explanation on the different animals and their habitats. The accomodation itself is amazing. It's beautifully decorated, with every detail carefully thought through. From the fireplace and braai (indoor and outdoor), to the cooking utensils and snuggly blankets to keep you warm. The cleanliness level is impressive. Bottom line - loved it!
