Recent visit.. June 11...fantastic food!! I am editing my review of a month ago. We returned to the Gannet and were pleased with our meal. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. Back to the good 'ol Gannet

A truly wonderful restaurant, with incredible decor, seafood, staff and great local and regional wines. The Gin making room and experience is a ton of fun.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to during 3 months of South Africa. Definitely had the best sole ever!!! Also sushi, mussels and prawns were very good. Everything super fresh and high in quality. Friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

Quite a few new,modern inclined renovation were done which create a very welcoming atmosphere. Food and drinks are always top notch!

Amazing service, atmosphere and fantastic service. I have dined at some of the best SA has to offer and this is right up there. The sole was to die for and our waiter Lindsay was sharp, attentive and welcoming. Cannot go wrong here

Beautiful cozy interior. We managed to only get seating outside as everything was fully booked. They provide blankets in winter, no heater though. Pasta and seafood dishes were good. Salmon pasta was quite mediocre though. The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. I’d return to try other dishes.

My goodness, the grilled Sole changed my life! Hands down the best fish I've ever tasted and I 1000% recommend you ask for this dish. Thank you Cafe Gannet for the lovely food and service. Ps: go a little early and start with the Gin making masterclass in the room next door.

Despite the great recommendations, the experience at Cafe Gannet was slightly underwhelming. The atmosphere is nice with a exceptional view on the ocean, however, the food and prices did not fully live up to the expectations. Normally, this would be a 4 star rating but the salty fish only justifies a 3-star rating in our opinion.

Food was good and fast. Waiter was friendly however his repeated answer "it's a pleasure" without any emotion made him sound like a robot. It made us feel like we wouldn't be welcome.. The food was nicely garnished and good!

So we heard about this restaurant and people raved about it but man what a disappointment. The menu is very basic and not much to choose from even the seafood 🦞 is not many options. As a starter we had jalapeno poppers which was the best thing about the meal! In the end we just had pizza 🍕 of all things in a seafood restaurant which makes no sense. That was very much what u expect mediocre 🍕. The prices are very much extremely overpriced even for sea food. We are from Knysna so we have plenty of seafood restaurants in 5 ⭐ places that are half the price and the prices are just insane and certainly directed towards the hotels overseas guests. The staff are friendly and professional, Bernice our waitress was very pleasant. The decor also is not that wow so before people say you're eating in a 5 star restaurant believe me you're not. A restaurant trying to be something it's not and charging 6 star ⭐ prices.

We had an incredible afternoon at Cafe Gannet. We started at Cape Saint Blaize for a gin tasting and that was such an incredible experience and the gin room is do beautiful. We then went across for dinner and had the snoek spring roll as a starter and it was out of this world!!!! My partner had the cod and I had the salmon pasta for mains and my pasta was incredible but my word - the cod!!!! If anyone goes and doesn't know what to get. Ask them if their line fish for the day is cod and if yes GET THAT!!!

Interesting restaurant, smart interior, clientele a cross section - from very upmarket ladies doing lunch to families with children, all in beach wear. The atmosphere is friendly and professional. The food is simply outstanding. We had the crayfish and fish platter for one. The delicate flavours were a delight to the palette. Try their delicious selection of gins, made on the premises. All in all a great dining experience.

Hadn't booked but was recommended. Great service, I had the mussles to start, portion was on the small side. But left plenty of room for the fish plater for one - which was excellent. Finished off with a chocolate brownie, which was lovely and warm.

So touched by the experience of the staff at Cafe Gannet. We were staying at the hotel and popped into the restaurant for dessert. They so kindly accommodated my food intolerance by baking me GF brownies, the kindest gesture. Thank you cafe gannet for the wonderful, kind service.

We are frequent visitors to Gannet for many, many years. Very classy upmarket restaurant and one of the best on the Garden route. The food is excellent and so is the service, each and every time. Sonia, Alvinia and Temni don't feel like waiters' rather like extended families. 10 out of 10 for this restaurant. Thank you girls for always making us feel like home.

The place is very beautiful. There isn't accurate information on Google there. When I googled the number and called as I needed a place to work for a few hours I was told that there might not be plugs and that it was full. When I arrived it was rather empty and was able to find a table with a plug. Further more I arrived around 10h30 and someone tell me that breakfast was served from 7 till 10 am and that food would only be served at middah. This I was not told when I called. After a few minutes and having ordered some tea I was told that the chef could make me a sandwich. I recieved a dry egg and bacon. I stayed and worked till 12h00 around 11h40 families started coming in and were giving menus. One gentleman who had gotten there a lil after me had also gotten a menu and ate a burger and fries. So I can not comment on the food. The place is lovely and I suppose the service is good depending on external factors.

All is not how it appears. At the front door a quaint little shop, until you step inside... The food is exceptional and I recommend asking the waiter/waitress for their opinion on ''What is good here''.

The menu looked amazing but we will not know how the food tastes as we waited approximately 30 min to have our drinks order taken. No apology at all, after such sloppy service I lost my appetite. The place wasn't that busy either. 😕

Best prawns I've tasted. Not overdone and powdery but perfect tasting. Service was great too. Can't wait to go back.

Wow. It is the beast way how I can best describe this experience.

We loved Cafe Gannet. A lively and very busy restaurant. A wonderful ambiance. With cosy indoor seating or outside seating with beautiful views. A lovely cocktail bar and a delicious variety of artisan drinks. Food is absolutely delicious. The Indian battered hale with a scrumptious coconut curry sauce is so yummy. The artistic and variety of sushi is as yummy. A lovely family restaurant with an outdoor area and jumping castle for the kiddies. Last but not least the delicious desserts are so good. For the Gin enthusiast there is a Gin school, where you can create your own unique Flavoured Gin.

Never dissapointed of their foods! Great taste and service. My advice is book in advance especially on the weekend of peak season. And take your time to come here as the food can take a while to come out. Great food takes time to prepare..but its worth a while to wait though😉

It's hard to fault this place!!!! You can't go wrong here. The food is incredible, always. From the sushi, to the meals, to the ice cream bar. The staff are lovely and so is the management. You can tell the mission is not just to serve a meal, but an experience.

This restaurant/Oyster bar is organised efficiently and the staff still manages to take the time to make sure you are well served and happy with your dish or whatever. Food quality is excellent and for children there is a buffet so they don't have to wait for the order to arrive. Well worth the wait if you have to and the waiting time they gave was realistic
