Our first experience in this restaurant, and definitely not the last. The restaurant has a very nice set-up - very warm, authentic and inviting. Very nice how they display all their wines and other liquors, for their guest to see and pick out themselves. As we were looking at the wines, one of the waiters gave us very good advice about the wines. Very helpful and friendly! And the food is great!! We had the beef ribs and the lamb ribs - both were absolutely delicious 😍

Fine dining in the heart of calmness. We arrived a bit early to an empty restaurant, but 30 minutes later it was completely packed with families. Definitely a different kind of place. No menus whatsoever. Everything they serve to you can be found written on the walls and something we really enjoyed is their unique wine list, or actually, their wine display. The waiters are extremely friendly and help you with a big smile and never making you wait. Giving you suggestions on what they think is the best for the evening, which really gives Transkaroo that homey feel. The food... Oh so amazingly delicious and very unique to Africa which is great for the tourists that make use of the Garden Route. Maybe a little pricey if you compare it to anything else in Great Brak, but this sure is a place to visit when in the area. Transkaroo gets Two Tasty Tummies' stamp of approval.

Food is good. Lamb neck is there number one, we had fish and homemade ice cream. Everyone go there, so try to book. The secret is in the taste.

Portions are great to satisfy you but you never feel uncomfortable afterwards. Unfortunately I had to drop a star on this rating as entering the restrooms all the great flavors of the food in my mouth was struch away by the horrible smells and badly kept toilet facilities. Still a great ambiance and lovely location. Not for a cheap evening out, certainly a special occasion.

A quaint restaurant located in an authentic railway office complex. The original woodwork and railway lines adds value to this cozy upmarket restaurant. The food and selection is excellent and well worth a second visit. Staff were equally above par and all in all mafe for a memorable experience. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic dining experience. An old station that has been converted. The atmosphere is great, the food was brilliant. Very few restaurants pah attention to the details. The Creme Brule with the spun sugar was superb. If you are in the area, take the time and spoil yourself. One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time.

Great food, heard the food is prepared made by a bunch of family chefs. Big variety of wine. Could be a bit more on the plate for the price. Kinda the French style, but more mash and gravy would have been top-notch. Leaves room for dessert or cappuccino I guess ;) Good service. Book in advance or you could be turned away, nice place to take your date or close family for a lovely dinner. I had the pork belly and mash potatoes as seen in pictures.

Was recommended to us from various people and sources. We did not enjoy it that much to be honest, the wine was very expensive and not worth its price, the lamb neck made me personally feeling sick, my comrade was able to eat it. The other food was okay, but honestly not worth the high price. Seeing the other ratings, maybe we just got a bad day, but in hindsight, after experiencing other South African restaurants, the Transkaroo was the worst.

Fillet steaks were cooked to perfection and were absolutely delicious. Loved the walk-up wine selection and the wide range of wines on offer. Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

This restaurant, owned by two lady chefs, serves world class food. The menu is small but with a lovely variety of meals cooked to perfection. Vegetables are perfectly done. My favourite is the pork belly with crackle, but the beef fillet with pepper sauce comes highly recommended. Sauces are all made from scratch and comes without the usual cream added. Also a great selection of wines from the region as well as most other favourites. You will do yourself a disservice by not having a meal here.

Transkaroo has always been my favorite restaurant to go to. My go-to meal is the beef short rib. It was still delicious, and I always look so forward to the vegetables. However, something has changed because the veggies did not taste the same which was disappointing for me. But for someone that had never been they will not be disappointed.

The price, quality, ambience, service and just about everything is perfect. Not a single thing on the plate was anything other than perfection. Absolutely worth every penny
