The room was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. A/C worked great, plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Comfortable, warm bed. Strong wifi connection with individual connections for each room. Mini fridge was effective and clean. Staff was able to point us toward restaurants, gave instructions for the bus system, lent us an umbrella, offered late check out, called us a cab at one point, and even made change for us to use on the bus. The location is next to two main bus stops, offering easy access to downtown. I will warn that this is in the middle of the red light district and a woman staying alone may feel uncomfortable on the street in the evening. I was the only (non-working, if you know what I mean) woman in sight on the street in the evening when we walked back to our room for the night. But there are plenty of people and businesses around, so even then it felt public and safe. Overall the room was simple, inexpensive, and exactly what we hoped for.

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel for a couple of nights in Singapore and this hotel ticked all our boxes. The location was good, room suited our needs and the staff were helpful. From the hotel you can easily get into central Singapore and there are lots of restaurants nearby too. You can't go wrong with this hotel if you're looking for somewhere well-priced, relaxed and in a good location.

Basic economy hotel located in the Geylang area of Singapore off of Lor 18 Geylang. Bookable online. Credit cards probably preferred but cash maybe accepted as well. Good budget place to stay for solo or couple travelers. Not so suited for families. Rooms are simple, clean and small. Not much wasted space - or any other kind of space! Again, fine if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. Bed linens were simple though not quite warm enough for the blasting AC. Toothbrush/paste toiletries provided. Western-style toilet arrangement. Good hot water and water pressure. Wi-fi adequate for at least basic stuff. Television only had a half-dozen working stations at any given time. Again, not a place to luxuriate but an adequate place to sleep at night. Rooms are not well-insulated against noise but it wasn't noisy the night I stayed there. The biggest problem with this place is the location. Even-numbered streets in Geylang are less than savory particularly after dark. It's Singapore, not Bangkok or other places so it's not overly obvious but there is a *lot* of street traffic after dark - both foot and motorized. Other than the neon lights you might not realize the small places across the street are selling adult services rather than food. Just be forewarned. Easy enough to go in and out of the hotel.

Affordable place to stay in Sg for short period. Walking distance the Bus station. Room was small but it's worth its price. Hotel workers are very accommodating and helpful. It's just a bit noisy at night, and there was a time when I got suffocated from the cigarette smokes sipping in the room at midnight from other customers

THE MOST BAD SERVICE OR I COULD SAY THE MOST BAD PLACE IN SINGAPORE. Hope other people think thrice before book here, very bad service from the receptionist. I book for 2 nights and only can hold to stay just for 1 day due to very small room, bad smell, bad service from the receptionist. I ask to refund for the second night, at first they agree, once i wait for 11 working days as they promise, they said cannot approve due to policy hotel. I keep on follow up with them and threat to give bad review. They don't care. So here you go. Trust me, you will regret if you stay in this hotel.

The hotel room was clean and the staff were lovely, the location was ok. Biggest issue was a complete lack of sound proofing. The walls are paper thin and I didn't get a single good night's sleep because you could literally hear people 3 or 4 rooms down having a conversation. Also the room was poorly designed. For example- the sink is in the bedroom to save space but there's no guard or anything to divide the space so water splashes into the room. The toilet door opens inwards and brushes against the toilet so if you want to get out you have to stand in the shower to open it or straddle the toilet. The shower head was cheap and flew out of the cradle if you put it on full pressure do you had to have a super weak shower if you didn't want to hold it the whole time

I am extremely disappointed by this hotel because of their bad customer service. We checked in this week Saturday for 8 nights until Sunday the next week. An emergency within the family happened and we had to check out already on Sunday noon after staying only for one night. I talked too three different staff at the reception and they all confirmed that it will be possible to get a refund (or partial refund) even tho my booking is normally not eligible for refund. However they told me it cannot be done by them, but instead I have to talk to Agoda (website where I booked the hotel) and then Agoda will contact them and take care of this. I contacted Agoda, Agoda contacted the Hotel 81, but Hotel 81 changed their mind and they told Agoda there will be no refund at all. So now I am paying 7 nights fully, while I do not even stay there. They could have at least refunded for the resources they save due to my absence. Also it's a shame that they just told me something at the reception to get rid of me and then later changed their minds! I am extremly disappointed that there is no goodwill gesture in case of an emergency. I would have expected more from a serious and legit Hotel chain in Singapore.

The room was well kept and large. Customer service at check-in was great. When I informed the reception on the second day that the safe had a low battery, she asked if I needed to use the safe. The hotel is located right on the red light district strip. Overall, it is good value for the accommodation except for its location

The service was very very bad. I paid a room for 4 days for my wife and niece (she's not with us yet). However, when I want to see the room I wasn't allowed by the receptionists. They said that's the hotel policy, I asked them to show it but they can't show it. I asked to speak with the Manager but he/she's not there. Also there's no toilet in the lobby and they didn't allowed me to use the toilet the room that my wife stay which I paid.

The room was good but the staff service was a big NO! We met 3 staff. The first one was an Indian with a flat face. No expression at all. The second one was an old chinese man (maybe the owner). He was very friendly and answered our questions patiently. Thank you, sir. We appreciated it. The third staff was the worst one. A fat with braid hair man. My friend asked if we could take a bus to one location from the nearest bus stop. Actually, we've known we could take LRT from there, we just wanted to know maybe there were some other transportation we could use to get there. And he replied while mocking, "how can you not know the transportation way here? Even after this you will go to Malaysia?! Haha" What a rude person!!!! So disappointing.

The room is a bit uncomfy and I got a different room from what's on the photo and u need to reactivate your key card every night! The location is good as it is near to the MRT and the staff are friendly. I like how they allow you to leave your luggage for a short time while you are roaming around the city. Good for short stay.

    1) poor corridor noise insulation. My last night 11pm had a batch of rowdy foreigners check in, didnt close their doors and left their luggage along corridor. I call counter phone but no one ans, so i let it ring till morning, hoping security will come and quiet them. Meanwhile, the hairdryer and hot water sounds do drown their noise. 2) while u think it has more parking lots, mornings u will smell urine along external walls. 3) small room which i hit my toe twice on bed table, even smaller toilet. 4) overseas TV channel all no signal 5) if u book days, daytime cleaner will still enter rm to clean though u put dont disturb, so lock valuable in safe. 6) if u left request online, coubter only read it when u check in. 7) only gd is the wooden theme.

Nice hotel but in the red light district. Friendly staff, clean rooms but not so big. Just a minutes walk away from the main road.

The room is not cleaned even when I already put the sign on the door. Not sure if we can drink the tap water or not but they have 2 bottles of water. Well they dont clean the room so they dont replace the towel and water. Kinda regret staying here

A brilliant budget hotel with enough water bottles and towels given for the duration of your stay. Very clean and tidy. The location is in the red-light district. Very quiet though. Customer service is on point. The staff speak excellent English. Seasonal events happening all the time. We attended the moon festival in the hotel. I was driven for free to a local bakery. Wonderful staff go above and beyond.

I have a very good experience staying this Hotel. All staff are every helpful and especially when I arrived at the hotel early in the morning, Nurhakim, the Chief Officer was able to find me a room and gave me early check-in. And on one of the early mornings where we have to get to F1 Pit Building to start our marathon race, the staff manage to get us taxi even though it was super hard to find and we have a couple cancellation attempts on our pre-booking. Super happy with the service, will surely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family!

I had a wonderful stay here. The hotel is extremely conveniently located. MRT station is a short walk to hotel and bus stop connecting you to main city attractions is literally around the corner from hotel. The staff were very kind and friendly. I couldn’t be more grateful to manager Patrick, he was exceptionally helpful with guidance navigating the city. As a solo traveler safety is very important to me and I can’t stretch how safe I felt my entire stay here. Regarding the surrounding area I was able to walk at night without any issues coming back from my nearby attractions. I even stopped for dinner one night and headed safely back to my room. I would definitely stay here again!!!!!

Only 2 minutes walk to the bus stop, a bit further for MRT (approximately 10 minutes slow walking). The room is clean and comfortable. Services are awesome! I called at 12 to ask for early check-in and they said yes without hesitation! Well-prepared staff also helped me fix the sink right away at 11 PM! Highly recommend if you are budgeted travelers but don't want to stay in dorms.

One of the better Hotel 81 I have resided in. Very well furnished in Japanese (wood) theme, clean and pleasing to the eyes. Currently staying long-term here, the surrounding establishments provide lots of dining/ grocery options, especially late into the night. Gave four out of five stars due to their hectic business over weekends and some weekdays, missing out our (fixed) schedule for housekeeping. However, this is not a big issue as I can remind them at the front desk to make up my room the following day. Sink drainage has been slow since my first day of accommodation, but solvable with a little patience. Overall, a very welcoming and straightforward experience. No issues with amenities, pest, (excessive) noise.

Room is very small but for me and a friend was enough we just sleep there and rest of the day we were out so we didn't mind small room. Room was clean and I have nothing to complain about. Receptionist are good they help you when you check in and you get a welcome letter :) Neighborhood is quiet even if they have some "massage" activities across the street.

The location of the hotel is good, 10 minutes walk from the metro station. 2-3 minutes to the bus station. Good budget hotel for waiting for the flight. Not too far from the airport and the city. The cleanliness is just ok

We choose this hotel for the first time after seen the good review from others. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The room a bit small but you got the basic things that needed are all available inside the room. LCD TV, water boiler, coffee/tea, safety box, hangers, fridge, hair dryer, bathroom heater, etc, available inside the room. The sleeping bed and pillows are comfortable. Bathroom water heater the pressure are quite good! In room WiFi internet speed quite fast! Basically the inside room design are quite nice and look new.

Our room smelled like cigarettes for the whole 3 days stay, the location is the worse as it is near a very inappropriate place, the good thing about it is there is a near bus station. We asked for a car to pick us to the airport and although we told them how many bags we had they got us a very small car that some of us had to take the bus, the bathroom is super small that you have to get into the shower so that you can close the door and if you are a huge person, you can’t close the door.

i just need a place to sleep after a long night out, came to this place.I wasn't expecting much on budget hotel, I'm impress with the cleanliness of the room, the lobby is simple & clean, staff is very nice & helpfull, even lend me a phone charger. Little thing made a difference.. definitely I'll come back again.

I'm giving 3 stars only because the room was clean, AC was working nicely, it was a bit walking distance from MRT and bus stop was 2 minutes away. Now the room was soooo small and it was having wash basin in the room. The bathroom was so smal that I was not even able to fit in that bathroom properly. The hotel is not good for family as there are 2 hours and 3 hours couple everywhere who come to enjoy the room for some time. The soundproofing of the room was so bad that even when anyone is walking outside the room you can hear that and in the night I can clearly hear sounds from my next room. Overall I will not recommend to stay here and they say these are budget hotels but it was completely out of budget when they ask you to pay more tax at the check-in time.

Rooms are renovated and clean, not so big but with a coffemaker and little refridgerator. The street near the hotel looks like a little red Light district but it was ok for us, it feels really safe, also for women to be there

  • 4/5 Lillian N. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel looks old but well maintained. Sheets and pillows have stains. A lot of hair left in the floor even though I have just checked in. Moderate price.

Do not stay this hotel.Very rude counter staff & chambermaids. Noisy in passageway, rooms not sound proof, you get disturbed sleep and noise from chambermaids who make alot of noises cleaning neighbour rooms, poor staff training.Chambermaids enter room even when cleaning not requested & even when a DO NOT DISTURB sign tag was hung outside.Do not keep valuables in room!Happened again & again.Staff argued with guest even when they are at fault, even to the extent of threatening to fight the guest.Worst hotel in Geylang area.

Room was better than expected. Recommended as long as you don't mind it's near a red-light district. Not too far walking to MRT stations.
