A very nice walk up the mountain with good views. It is quite hard to get up, especially in the sun when it's warm. The stairs are bigger than they look if you're at the bottom. You'll also notice that the air has less oxygen when you're getting higher up

Excellent place to visit. I went up with a tour, apparently the monkeys respond better to the tour guides. I had booked a cable car ticket, but unfortunately when we arrived the cars were being maintained, so no choice but to go on the tour. It ended up being well worth it and only £18 each for a couple of hours, very good value. It was great fun and I got loads of photos. Be careful about belongings, the monkeys are very quick and will take things in a flash.

Wall within the natural reserve enclosure of the upper part of the Rock of Gibraltar. It has very accessible stairs throughout its perimeter to be able to travel the entire way, which can significantly limit the path to the top, that is more than 600 steps and along the way you will find several monkeys, even sleeping in the middle of the stairs, Since here we cross one of the points where most reside, so it can be difficult to go up or down them calmly.

I highly recommend climbing or descending these stairs - if health permits. Yes - a very steep climb and hard, but the feeling of flying and the thrill is indescribable) In addition, on the wall of the stairs you can find rampant wallowing monkeys.

Great climb and stunning views. It’s quite steep, but definitely worth it if you can. The macaques can be a bit daunting when they are sitting on the steps, but you can just walk past them. Watch out for them jumping on you, and keep your food secured in a bag. This is where I saw all the young macaques, and they are absolutely adorable.

Climbing up in hot summer took some time, but it was worth it. Beautiful sights. Be carefull when you are near monkeys because they can attack, especialy when you have food in your bag and on this wall you don't have a lot of options to run away. Also I don't recommend it if you're affraid of heights.

A heck of a climb but worth it and great exercise! Look out for the monkeys! Don't look then in the eye out they'll start harassing you!

I recommend walking down the steps to really enjoy the views. The stairs are not too steep and there are stops along the way to get off the wall and relax/recover. There are plenty of monkeys at the top of the stairs that are feeding. Be carful getting close for pictures. I had one climb on me and in a split second unzipped the top of my bag looking for food.

Interesting climb up the steep steps, with a hand rail on one side and the wall with monkeys on it on the other. Good views to the port and it's a good shortcut between the roads.

A breathtaking climb. Beware of the monkeys because they are very aggressive and do not want to go down the stairs

I know from the fact that I descended. Steps that are too high and descending for a long time put a lot of strain on the hip joints.

It's a challenge in the heat. I carried our baby in a carrier and have never sweated so much in my life. My wife and daughter also struggled to get up, especially as we ran out of water and we'd taken a bottle each. We literally thought we wasn't going to make it! So my advice if you going up with children, take extra water, a towel and perhaps try to visit when it's not 30 degrees plus! Outstanding views and the odd monkey knocking about make it worth it!

Perfect for getting the best shots over Mediterranean, Atlantic, Africa and Europe...all at the same time. Naturally not forgetting the monkeys

Stairway to heaven. Long, plenty of steps. You have to share them with some monkeys. Nice views down to town

All right, there are a few steps here. We took the trip from the town (just use google maps for the route) and went up. Steps look smaller than actually are but safe. Be careful as rope handrail is loose in some places and may give you a bit of the thrill. Don't be tricked by other comments about lack of oxygen. This is not Mount Everest as in the end you will reach around 430 metres above the see level. Nevertheless, it is a quite of an achievement, especially in the storm. We did have that luck and half way through we were hit by storm therefore we decided not to take the stairs down. There is slightly longer alternative footpath as well. Monkeys would not cooperate, and you have to let them go first, but that is the fun I guess. All that effort pays off when from the top, you will look down and realise what the hell you have just achieved. If you plan to visit Giblartar don't think twice just go for it. Oh there is a cable car service which takes you right up but only on no windy days, but I think the best way to experience National Reserve is to do it by taking the stairs. There are bus drivers fishing for some deals however for 25 euros per person they will only quickly take you up and down all in 20 minutes. Take the stairs!!!
