The cave was impressive and the light and sound effects really cool. It's wet inside, so we really needed to watch our step on different stairs but I liked the experience a lot. Since in our case it was part of a one day trip (and the 1,5 hrs mini bus tour up the mountain), we didn't have enough time to enjoy the stay to the fullest unfortunately.

Very nice, interesting new experience. We, on Slovakia, can say nothing with our caves against this one. Beautiful structures, very fancy lights, which gave the right atmosphere. The cave cinema was awesome. Probably we were lucky, but there were not many people today. If you weren't there, I really recommend coming, it's a great once in a life experience.

Beautiful. I made no plans to visit here, but glad I did. Very wonderful experience. Very colorful and moving. Beware the wet steps though. I slipped twice. Didn't fall, but very scary.

Very simple but super cool. And a great place to see monkeys! The cave itself is pretty awesome. The angel in the cave doesn’t require an exaggerated imagination - it really does look like an angel. The cave itself is beautiful and they’ve done a great job using lights to accentuate the beauty. I really love that they cycle through the lighting effects to all white lighting so you can also see the natural beauty of the cave. And we saw lots of monkeys outside there as well. A very enjoyable experience!

The best cave exhibition and a unesco level experience. The lighting of the caves makes the experience so beautiful and tranquil and makes your head spin. It is gorgeous and stunning and the cave itself is very energetic and beautiful. Would recommend if you’re visiting Gibraltar! You can also see the monkeys just outside the cave, they are very friendly! Recommend buying your ticket in advance to avoid long lines

A definite must see whilst in Gibraltar. A stunning and beautiful natural wonder. It has so much history. They even do concerts there, which I would love to go to someday. Music and like show. Worth the nature reserve pass just to see this. A gem in Gibraltar.

This was hands down the best part of the whole cave experience for us! It's so magnificent that pictures don't do justice. Don't miss the show at the auditorium played every 7 mins or so. There's also a small cafe at the entrance serving a variety of small bites and drinks.

Very beautiful 😍! Sadly enough we had only 20 minutes to be there because of the tour we had. And it's not enough in my opinion! The music with the show at the end is so beautiful with the combination of lights, it's magical! They really did a great job on the light work 👏 😍 and at the end of the cave there was a monkey sitting at the exit! Very nice surprise 😍

This really is an incredibly beautiful cave. The stalagmites and stalactites are epic in size! The only distractions are the green and purple lighting and continuous light show which are tacky and distract from the natural beauty of the cave. Luckily, there are reprieves between these shows when white lights illuminate the walls, providing an opportunity to take great photos.

We had not expected this at all. After deciding to get the cable car up and walk down, we had to buy the nature reserve tickets as well. What we did not realise was that this allowed us entrance to all areas on the rock top. The first one we hit after walking down was the cave. Absolutely stunning light show and auditorium, wish we had been able to hear a concert as well had we known to check and book before hand

A truly stunning experience. The cave is a wonder of nature that saw many natural transformations through the ages. Make sure to stay for the movie projection on the rocks at the auditorium. It’s an amazing way to interactively learn the history of the cave and its formation.

Very unexpected visit, but really Beautiful! 🤗 Be careful when walking inside - lots of slippery places. Also, don’t touch the surfaces - lots of bacterias. Tip: recommend buying the Gibraltar Nature Reserve ticket to visit many places for the same price :)

Absolutely stunning place a must for any visitor. The largest of the vaults is impressive, the number of seats is enormous and all in one mountain. The play of colors creates impressive images that you will forget for the rest of your life.

A shift from the sweeping vista of the Pillars of Hercules, this cave offers a cool break from the higher temps outside. A well developed cave, with plenty of space (it's a local musical venue). People with disabilities or trouble walking may have difficulty with the stairs. A common hang out for the famous Barbary macaques, awaits you at the gift shop exit (be careful, seemingly tame, these are wild creatures). Also, a common tourist destination, so try to time your visit at off peak hours to enjoy the music and light display.

Very likely the best cave exhibition I ever saw. Not the largest but an amazing overall experience of light & sound show coupled with amazing stalactites & stalagmites. A must see when in Gibraltar! Tips: -wait for the white light before taking your photos. It comes for around a minute every 7 minutes. It's worth it! -when you get to the auditorium, find a seat (plenty available) and wait for the show! Don't miss it! It's not the usual lights and relaxing sound, it's a light show and dramatic music combination. It happens every 7 minutes (followed by the white light which you should be using to take photos inside the cave ;) ) Hope this helps and enjoy!

A must visit for any visitor to Gibraltar. Saint Michael's Caves form part of a tour up the Rock where you can take in The Pillars of Hercules, the caves, the Sky Walk, the tunnels, see the monkeys and more and you get to experience the amazing views on a clear day. I would recommend you take a tour with one on the taxis who you will find either in Casemates Square or up the high street or if you are feeling very fit and adventurous then you can take the cable car to the top and walk but it's not for anyone who isn't used to alot of walking and who can walk up steep inclines. The light show in the caves is fabulous to see and really helps bring the caves to life. It takes approximately 8 minutes to watch and there is seating within the caves to watch it. There's a shop and a cafe/restaurant at the caves, where you can get refreshments during your tour and the caves provide a great stop off point on your trip up the Rock. There are also many other things to see on your tour, so please leave a good couple of hours or more to complete your tour if going in a taxi and a whole day if you plan to walk.

Amazing! This is a fantastic place to visit if you are on the rock. Plan your day well as a wrist band will get you in to all of the attractions (check the band you buy). Give yourself time to really enjoy the caves as these are spectacular!

Stalactites and stalagmites have formed in the caverns and they look amazing. Worth a visit to see those and the auditorium. Nice and cool inside, particularly when outside temperatures are high. Shop and restaurant are nearby, too. Tickets are required for entry as there is a QR code to scan.

What an amazing place to go see. It is overwhelming the deep the caves really are. The trip was well worth the money. They even do a light show every 7 minutes which was interesting as well.

Didn't see the light show but the caves were amazing pure natural nature. We heard the light show brings it all to life spectacular really is worth the trip if you can walk a few steps then visit the caves

This is a great experience if you like walking inside caves. This is no ordinary cave walk as it is ornate with lights and music. That makes the experience a little more special. No extra cost was added beside the £16 entry fee when entering the nature reserve. It takes no more than 10 minutes to walk through the cave which is also used as a concert place.

Stunning and well maintained with a great fabulous light show. Very cool inside a reprieve from the very hot sun! Great to find out that the caves were discover by a Royal Engineer!

Beautiful experience and the new light show is really good. So atmospheric on there, and it's so cool, whatever the weather. A must see if you are in Gibraltar at any point

Wonderful caves with sound and light show. Top tip ! They use a ‘green screen’ to superimpose different backgrounds on to the photos they take as you enter - don’t wear a green T-shirt if you want your body to appear on said photos.

A beautiful cave with an interesting light show. The crowds make it less intimate. There is no guide and Montour is available, it's simply a walk through.

A very well done and we'll preserved cave. It is easy to access and not claustrophobic in the slightest. I will take you about 30-45 minutes to visit and experience the entire upper part of the cave.

Impressive cave but a very touristy experience (which is why we came if course), so much that the cave soort of becomes secondary. Nonetheless worth a visit.

Incredible cave with the moust standing stalactites and stalagmites. Greatest show of light's and sounds. Lots of monkey make sure you watch yours staff.

Hieno kokemus ja paikalla hieno historia. II maailmansodan aikaan sotilaille kunnostettu luolasto, joka tänään palvelee turisteja ja vieraita erilaisine tilaisuuksineen. Mahtava akustiikka ja valo- ja videoshow:t.

  • 5/5 Robyn J. 4 months ago on Google
Very beautiful. You can only access it with a ticket. They have lights and music inside, but every 7 minutes, the lights turn white and you can see the rock plainly. We only spent 20 minutes here on a taxi tour, but they do have a bathroom. Somewhat handicap accessible if you just go to the auditorium. There is a small store that sells gifts and food.

  • 5/5 Josée F. 1 year ago on Google
I love nature and the caves were a treat. The light show at the end of the is worth taking the time to see it all from start to finish. If you arrive mid-way, stay for the next full presentation.

  • 5/5 Jay P. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome place to visit. So nice and cool inside and the music and lights show is a must. Just remember to sit as far to the back as possible to get a better view and fuller experience!

  • 4/5 Ellie W. 1 year ago on Google
The walk through the cave can be damp so be careful when walking through. Walking through you can see the formations of the rock. There is an awakening light show - light to music on the rocks - every 7 minutes. There is a public bathroom - that doesn't always have tissues - and a gift shop here.

Great, but charging 20 euro for a picture is a rip off. We got up with a tour, hence not sure what entry price normally is, but it definitely is overpriced, it is a natural cave and it is interesting however, but you are through In a few minutes, as they are light by different colours they look amazing, ( but not real)

  • 5/5 Darius 1 year ago on Google
Interesting cave, beautiful colors, you can have a water down there. It is very clear they know tourism. Monkeys outside are a big plus

Very interesting cave, could have spent much longer looking around but we were on a bus tour so literally had 10 minutes. I stupidly forgot to change my glasses so wore my sunglasses which I do NOT recommend 🤦🏻‍♀️ We didn’t get chance to watch the film in the seating area.

Absolutely loved it here! It has such special, pleasant vibes that I'd love to feel more often. Music and visual effects are nicely produced in the cave environment and it was such a nice surprise!

  • 4/5 Timothy K. 2 years ago on Google
Only four stars because while it's beautiful, it's a 10-15 min walk through. They literally dynamited a new exit to make it easier to get though. Stalactites and stalagmites were heavily damaged but show clear signs of reforming, which is actually pretty cool. Very very commercialized but the light and sound show adds something that you don't often see in a cave.

Astounding caves located an easy enough walk from the cable car station. Remarkable to find and known about since the roman times. Impressive drops and lightshows.

  • 5/5 Hugo C. 1 year ago on Google
Simply astonishing and beautiful. The cave itself is trully an incredible natural wonder, but what they have managed to achieve with the lights show is a masterpiece. The show is called The Awakening and it really stirs feelings of wonder and magic. I highly recommend this. The views from outside the cave are also spectacular and let's not forget the wild monkeys lazily roaming around the grounds.

  • 5/5 Rachel H. 1 year ago on Google
We'd bought our tickets via our tour operator, we got to the tunnels and already had wristbands so entry was quick. The caves are amazing, beautifully lit & great music accompanying. Though there are alot of steps & stairs so may be an issue for people with mobility issues. There is a gift shop and public toilets. The monkeys were literally all around the entrance of the caves - so 2 treats in 1!

  • 4/5 Paul S. 1 year ago on Google
Very interesting cave system with an easy walk in and out - although does involve steps. The light and sound show is an interesting addition as is the fact that they have a theatre/auditorium built in underground.

  • 5/5 Darryl N. 1 year ago on Google
You can’t miss this, it’s one of the most astounding places I have ever been to. Be sure to watch the show which is every 7 minutes from the start. It will leave you with goosebumps at the end.

  • 5/5 Vaidotas Z. 1 year ago on Google
Take a full tour you will not regret it. Get a cable car both ways. Keep in mind you will have to walk a lot especially upstairs at the final stage. I would not use trip companies to drive you gy car unless you cant walk a lot.

This was a wonderful experience! One of the places you can visit in the Gibraltar nature reserve when you buy your ticket. This was absolutely worth the big hike! It's such a wonderful place. The audiovisual experience was absolutely breathtaking. We were lucky enough to come by just at the time of a light and sound show, which took place in the auditorium part of the cave. That was one of the most beautiful things I've experienced. You can also take a photo in front of a green screen in the cave and then you can customise and purchase the photos in the souvenir shop at the exit. The photos are quite expensive, though, at around £15 so we ended up not buying them but the option is there. I highly recommend taking the route to this place and going inside to see it for yourself.

  • 5/5 Paul F. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely place to visit and the caves are brought to life by the clever use of atmospheric lighting. A good location to also stop over and take refuge from the hot weather as well as any refreshments from the café, which being the only one in the area can seem slightly expensive, but then most folk are probably on holiday and expect tourist prices I guess?

  • 4/5 chef i. 2 years ago on Google
Good experience, not as cool (temperature) as I've experienced in caves before , very good stalegmites/tites.

  • 3/5 David R. 1 year ago on Google
Five stars plus for the cave but it looked so much more natural and beautiful in the 1980's when the lighting was just soft warm white lighting. Personally I think the garish colours of the current "light show" detract greatly from the unbelievable rock formations. Thinking back to when I conducted a military band in the cave, the stage seems to have shrunk, or maybe age is playing a trick on me. Still worth going to but somewhat of a disappointment for me personally.

  • 5/5 David 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful cave found on a van tour at base of the tram. Tram was closed so do yourself a favor and take the van tour!! Better and you get to see so many more sites!!

  • 5/5 Kim N. 1 year ago on Google
This was the highlight of our trip in Gibraltar! The cave was absolutely beautiful, the light show made it even grander and picturesque, and the show near the exit felt like a masterpiece! The show near the exit was like a mini auditorium and the actual show depicts how St Michael’s Cave was formed with dramatic music and animation projected onto the walls of the caves. This was incredibly special! You don’t need to buy a separate ticket to access the cave as your Nature Reserve wristband costs to enter the Rock includes all the attractions and St Michael’s Cave is one of them! This was the highlight of the Rock!

  • 5/5 Chris W. 1 year ago on Google
We went to the caves as part of a shore excusion from A Mediterranean cruise. The caves are amazing, it's only a 10 minute walk around but magical. The lighting has made a stardard Cave structure into a wonderful experience. We'll worth going to and you will probably see the apes as you come out of the caves as the staff from the gift shop give them food.
