I could give 10 stars to Bushmere Arms if I could. The last time I went to BA was in 2002 and left the place just as impressed as I did in Dec, 2017. You know when the managers of a restaurant have made an effort for their guests. The gardens surrounding the restaurant are a joy to walk in. Roses, lilies, fruit bearing trees, fountains, arched hedges, sculptures - it is really like the Garden of Eden. Food is delectable. It is awarded for beef and lamb but as a vegetarian, I was not let down whatsoever. Mushroom ravioli came in parcels wrapped like candies. Tomatoes were so sweet, they actually tasted like candies. Carrot and ginger soup - I could have had vats of it and never be satisfied. Then came lemon surprise - the most sublime creation that ended the dinner in the most memorable way. I had to choose between at least 6 other puddings and I can assure you my other guests' tummies too were humming in perfect harmony. The only downside is the wait but it is EVERY bit worth it. There are very few restaurants where the Chef has been around long and the management takes pride in making the place as beautiful. It is absolutely the most exquisite restaurant I have ever been to.

5 stars on principle. I've never been there, but someone important said it was their first choice. The news implies the owners a good sorts. So, I wish the owners the very best for their hard work and determination. More importantly, the owners took the moral high ground. Good job guys, I wish your staff the very best too.

Nice quaint pub. Great for a beer or a bottle of wine but I wouldn't order food there if you are not prepared to wait a long time. We gave up after nearly 2hrs waiting and decided to go elsewhere.

Order an hour before u arrive for food. Robin does it all alone so don't be surprised if your food takes more than an hr to arrive. Food is like home-cooked nothing special, very conservative no music. But better than driving to and from town if your not time poor

The food was really nice but slow in coming out. There is only one person I the kitchen so it took a long time. Slow service with ordering and drinks too. It took us 2 hours and 40mins for dinner, over an hour waiting for entree and another for main. The place is nice and so we're the bar staff/waitresses.

Owner is a real piece of work. Wouldn't give him a smile let alone my money. Save it and go somewhere else.

The gardens were amazing! It was raining, but it still looked wonderful outside. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The food cooked and presented was beautiful! The appetisers that were served tasted lovely. My Favourites being the minted pea and mozzarella balls and the fresh crumbed fish fingers. The main course consisted of chicken, ham and beef fillet with various salads warm and cold. Cooked to perfection & tasted yummy! Dessert was cheese cake which was also yummy. The wine available was beautiful local wines and selection of spirits and beer were like all pubs good range. Would recommend to anyone looking to have an event.

Robin Pierson the proprietor of Bushmere Arms is a very accomplished Chef, I have always enjoyed eating Robin's food because he cooks from the heart plus he strives to makes everything from scratch. It's refreshing to find such a talented and passionate Chef like Robin in Gisborne. "Keep shaking those pans Robin"

Brilliant host and perfect spot for a Winter celebration. Excellent pre lunch nibbles around a fireplace. Very good function room for lunch. Fantastic wait staff. Quality menu choices and superb cooked meal. Understanding & accomodating staff, when two extras arrived. Will use again.

A local suggested we visit the Bushmere Arms and I am so grateful she did! We had the most scrumptious lunch in the most magnificent setting. It’s a nice change of pace - we enjoyed walking the grounds and admiring the expansive gardens. We loved the food and local wine. Would definitely go back as I can imagine at night it is magical.

😠 Poor service from reception desk. We were ignored for 15mins. She was sorted how to use til but didn't acknowledge we were there. Entrées were nice but chicken mains one was undercooked other tasted as if the stuffing was off.

πŸ‘ Very efficient and friendly service. Eggs Benedict with Salmon potion size was good - not too little or much - just right and the ciabatta was crunchy on the outside and soft one the inside. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. Good first time experience

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great eclectic decor. Guy opened early for us, lit large log fire, turned on pretty lights. Can be opened up to outdoors. Only there for one drink so don't know how it does, but I'd go there again, for sure.
