Great doctors who I have been a patient with for 55 years when the surgery was in elmvale street , both doctor McLaughlin and his son were their and if you can get by the receptionists who make you feel like a pest and a hypochondriac , make up there own rules as they go along they ,are making phoning the doctor for an appointment a misery in itself , this has happened on numerous occasions with both myself and my family , I’ll now refuse to phone because of the attitude these receptionist have , they forget people are seeking help not a lecture , I am being told by them what doctors will and won’t do when doctors tell you different . I work full time and will be looking at changing my doctor from now on .

I would not suggest this practice to anyone who is looking for their physical health to be taken seriously. I have lost count of how many times this practice has failed me and others I know. I recently had a call with a nurse who laughed at me on the call and told me the issue and pain I was experiencing was “common in people your age” and told me all I could do this time was to take the medication and if the issue happens again I am to “call for an appointment with the doctor”.This completely contradicts what the receptionist told me this morning “these things don’t go to the doctor”. And on top of all this the attitude of the receptionists is horrendous, always rude and condescending. The same could definitely be said about the GP’s and nurses! Good luck if you need an appointment sooner rather than later, the best you’ll get is 2-4 weeks after your initial call.

Called today and spoke to really friendly and helpful staff. dealt with my query over the phone and also called me back to confirm prescription taken to chemist and will be available. Great service!

Moved to this practice due to my previous practice being unprofessional and not caring at all about there patients. Barony has been a breath of fresh air, doctors are very professional and reception staff will go above and beyond to help you. One of the best decisions I have made is moving here and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a new practice.

It is difficult to give a rating when there is such a gap between high and low service. There have been instances with people not listening, making assumptions, leading to several wrong actions- some with serious consequences- I am not talking about an isolated incident but a series of unfortunate choices made over and over again. I hope they improve in the future. At the moment some GPs have left so when you call it’s either emergency or nothing. Expect to wait up to 4 weeks for routine appointments. They have not changed their recorded message since pandemic. It used to be a great practice, I hope they can go back to being at least a good one.

Used to be a good GP, but after pandemic everything changed, rather pass away at home than be consulted there again

I have been a patient with this practice my entire life. I might be biased but the GPs, the Senior Nurse and all the staff are beyond amazing. I could never see myself with any other practice. A beautiful, clean and relaxed family atmosphere is just what you need when you or your loved ones are poorly.

Firstly this is one of the only Glasgow surgery’s with almost 5 stars. There is a reason for this and I’m appalled that I’ve received a text that some people feel it’s okay to disrespect anyone especially those that work in the surgery. Andrea, Katrina, Karen and all the other reception staff are outstanding. They recognise me by voice alone and are very respectful, kind, caring, professionals. They have supported me on numerous occasions and always rapid at getting appointments or any other help needed. The reason perhaps I treat them with the kindness they deserve. It’s not hard to be kind and anyone verbally abusing staff should not direct their anger at them. Secondly the doctors iv met have been direct, efficient, compassionate and gone above and beyond. Dr howatt especially he may come across direct but he is a fair and very experienced GP. Dr McKinley has since left and he was so lovely and caring! Best of luck with retirement you have been exceptional. Dr Hunter and any other doctors are fantastic too! The nurse iv met are always kind and helpful. This surgery is the best iv ever been and I commend them for their effort and support. I cannot express my gratitude enough and hope that others do too. Thank you to all at Barony. I’d give you more stars but it won’t let me give above 5 ⭐️
