There aren’t many bars as impressive in design as this in Glasgow. If you are looking to show foreign visitors the city or find somewhere with some privacy it’s a great venue. Old wood, stone and brass and a traditional Scottish feel. Has the authentic ye olde world vibe. On the downside it can also feel a little closed in and warren like as it has so many rooms and stairs.

ALERT... BEFORE ANYTHING, ASK TO OPT OUT OF SERVICE CHARGE WILL SAVE YOU 10 PERCENT ON YOUR BILL, PINT OF HEINIKEN £5 WITHOUT SERVICE CHARGE £4.50 1526, Friday afternoon, staff very miserable and with no manners, WiFi doesn't work and when I asked the staff the answer I got was.. "Well the staff one os working okay". Then she asked her boss to which he replied "hasn't worked for ages". To top all that off, drink is expensive, warm and flat. Please see pic for a 3 minute old pint 28th Jan 2022 Thought we'd give It another go, lager still very flat and warm as you can see from pic 2, and...... even though its no longer table service they are still charging " service charge ", ask to "OPT OUT of service charge" before you pay and you will save at least a pound in each round.

One of the most amazing pubs I’ve ever been to. It’s like you’ve walked into Lord of the Rings in Ireland. Bizarre but beautiful! Please go if your in Glasgow, there are so many dimensions to this place, it would fit most people! Has a whole other vibe when your 5 pints deep! 😂

I am very disappointed by my experience at the pub. I visited the pub regularly before covid and I was really looking forward to sharing the venue with my two friends. On arrival the customer service was poor, no eye contact, no smile, it took ages to be served. We stayed for two drinks, the staff who collected our empty glasses just pointed. No smile, no verbal communication. The bar staff looked as though they hated being there. Plus the bar was not fully stocked. It was early evening. We left very promptly and went onto to have a great evening else where. I would not recommend this pub following my experience. If you like poor customer service then please enjoy. But believe me there are some amazing places in Glasgow, don't waste your money going here !!!

Great pub for drinks before a big night out. Great atmosphere. Funky interior design. I actually bumped in to an old friend of mine that I hadn't seen for 10 years when I first went in here so I have nothing but good memories from my first visit here. I would highly recommend anyone to stop off at Waxy O'Connors

Really dope pub!! We enjoyed our visit here. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the decoration of the whole store is also very pleasing! Everyone working here are kind and friendly. 😝 It feels extremely great on rainy cold day. This place is highly recommended to anyone who is visiting Glasgow. You won’t be regret once you come.

Unbelievable bar staff letting people order drinks but not telling them they don't take cash was totally embarrassed by this luckily my friend had a card to pay for the the drinks this should be displayed at the entrance of the pub

A place not to be missed if you are visiting Glasgow. It is an unusual pub. It is quite large and gets very crowded, but it has a lot of nooks and crannies at different levels to give it a cosy feel. Live music, Great atmosphere.

Good atmosphere and great location, there was a band playing and rugby world cup England v South Africa on the TVs. I had a chicken pie and it was hot, well portioned and fresh but too salty imo. My girlfriend had the all day breakfast and also felt it was a wee bit salty too. We expected a few more options on the menu from other reviews like haggis neeps & tatties and Irish stew but they weren't available. Otherwise food arrived quickly and was reasonably priced.

A great, quirky, multi-roomed pub with live music, little alcoves, and a friendly atmosphere. They're a small chain but each are individual and unique. They do a reasonably priced Guinness too, which is always helpful, at five pounds a pint. If they did food, they'd be even more popular than they are. Highly recommended.

This is without a doubt one of the strangest but coolest pubs I have ever been in.Even if your not into pubs the next time you pass by,don't go in for a wee walk around,I guarantee you won't be disappointed but astounded by its AWESOME weirdness and quirkiness.

I first came to Waxy 11 years ago and I have the best memories of having a good time, in a place full of good whisky and beer options and great environment. I came back in 2022 and I was glad to notice this is still my favorite bar in the world and keeps its good energy. The food is good, the sizes of dishes are great, the service is kind and the environment is still one of the most beautiful ones I have ever visited. I will come back for sure every time I am back to Glasgow!

I would have given 5 stars as the staff were great, but the business takes 5% of the staff tips as an "admin fee". Poor show ☹

The menu is very sparse with poor choices. The food is average and overpriced. It is very clean though and nice inside.

Next to the queen street, it was not much from outside even the first floor but when you go down the stairs, it opens up a magical place. It is quirky, live music, great Guinness.. Hidden gem, service was great nice vibe

    Good selection of beer

  • 4/5 Evelien W. 3 years ago on Google
The menu only shows alcoholic drinks, so I was afraid that they wouldn't have good non alcoholic options, because I am pregnant, but they made a great pineapple mock tail, which amazed me, it was very good! It's quite expensive, but you get a fancy drink, so it's worth it :)

Lovely place in the heart of Glasgow to have some food and beers while watching football.

Wow! This place looks so plain on the outside but it is amazing inside. A rabbit warren or labrynth of bars with themes. Attention to detail in each. The church bar a favourite.

This place was great! It was fun exploring all the floors. The live music was on point. I definitely recommend visiting here if you come to Glasgow!

Great bar and perfect to watch the F1! Also a great selection of Gluten Free food which was great to see - the Fish & Chips where delicious. Bar man was very kind and turned the volume of the music down just in our section so we could enjoy the TV as much as possible! Also reasonably priced for the location! Loved it.

It’s a great place to be on a Friday night. It has lots of little bars on different levels, a bit of a warren really. I liked it because there were loads of friendly punters just having fun. Lots of twenty somethings a forty somethings. A good mix. I enjoyed it

An enchanting venue, like a maze at times, full of character and atmosphere. Right beside Queen Street train station. I just walked in without booking and was lucky enough for find a free table for 2. The food was great; I'd highly recommend the seafood cowder as it reminded me of my favourite Scottish dish called Cullen Skink.

Cracking pub. Incredibly busy but the service was brilliant. Great atmosphere, decent live music, excellent beer.

Had a pint of Guinness in there. Worst poured pint i have ever had. You'd get slapped in the bake if you presented it like that in Belfast lol. It did taste fine. Didnt have food but it looked fine judging by other peoples plates.

Stopped in with friends, no customer service from man behind the bar. Waitstaff was rude and condescending. Fish and chips were good had to wait a long time had to ask for manager to resolve issue with non edible items.

The best pub I've ever been 🙂. The amazing decor gives this place an unforgettable atmosphere. Wooden elements give the place warmth and charm. Great selection of beers, good food. Many levels of the premises mean that everyone will find a place for themselves 🍻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Great Irish pub with loads of floors and space to sit/stand. Fantastic interior and loads of nooks & crannys to explore! Not the cheapest prices in town (up to £5 a pint) but worth paying the extra for the atmosphere. Live DJ playing Rock/pop/indie/dance on Saturday nights. Live traditional Irish folk bands on Sundays & some week nights. Unusual but high quality pub food. with traditional Scottish & Irish dishes (Clams, haggis, muscles, etc) Some outdoor seats at front and rear but very limited. Good for large groups or if wanting some space to stand at the weekends. Toilets are very small in comparison to the size of the place but generally well maintained. Highly recommended pub visit if in Glasgow for a short period of time.

Such a fun pub experience in Glasgow. There are so many hidden rooms and the interiors are incredible, including trees, stained glass, wooden staircases and a small balcony where the live music is played from. The drink prices are reasonable and the selections are great. There are multiple bars throughout the pub so the queues are never too long. Phone signal is a no go and you may get lost but that’s part of the fun.

I went on a Thursday night. Not busy but just right. Easy to get a drink and the staff is attentive. Beautiful architecture and a fun maze type vibe from the multi level set up.

Staff and food amazing. Was there for my granddaughter's graduation. Very attentive from the minute we went in till we came out. We had 2 courses, very hard to choose as too many choices. Prices were fantastic especially it's location, could see all the decorations at George Square. Fantastic day.

It's a beautiful warren of stairs and reasonably priced. I love the inside and listening to the brogue coming through from the friendly efficient staff.

Have just been to Glasgow for a meal and went into Waxy O'connor for a drink with my partner we had 1 drink before going for lunch meal at charcoals restaurant where we shared a bottle of wine after which we returned to waxy O'connor for a final drink before our journey home.At the door of waxy O'connor the doorman asked for my name etc before asking my partner how much she'd had to drink which I found to be very insulting when my partner replied to his question he said Obvoiusly you can't hold your drink.Although very annoyed we went in and ordered a drink when the manager appeared and he to was very rude.I will never be back ck here my partner works for NHS.

Love this place normally, always good craic & vibrant atmosphere but the food was a let down, pastry under done, colcannon cabbage not done properly & my glass of wine was awful. Clearly from a bottle that had been open too long.

Waxy's is a signpost of the city centre - to he always observed! I come here often with workmates, friends and travel buddies. Great service and good company! Covid measures are careful and well planned! Would definitely return in the current climate and beyond!

I have always loved Waxy's but not been for a year or so. Went back yesterday and it's lovely to see that the service is still brilliant, the decor is as it always way - whimsical and interesting - and the new government health and safety measures are being followed to the letter.

An amazing place with lots of nooks and crannies. My favourite pub in Glasgow. Visited earlier this year whilst staying at the George Hotel. From intimate places under the trees to live music and dancing . Amazing night out. Plenty to address all tastes. However if you want to eat need to be there early as stop serving around 8. Love it.
