👍👍 Good food, good drinks! Industrial setting which added to the charm. It's down quite a big staircase so be careful if you have access needs. I ordered the hotdog and it was yummy, the chips were also really good! People often mention vegan, good, great, staff, Indian, delicious, friendly, Great, menu, atmosphere,

The food here was so so good! I could have eaten it all over again. Delicious kebab sandwhich- side of coleslaw and chips was perfect. They have boardgames behind the bar if you're so inclined, a great way to pass the time as your food is being put together. We enjoyed some rhubarb sodas along with our food, great for those who don't drink much but want something from the bar. Overall cool atmosphere and very friendly staff. Only thing that didn't match up was the toilets.. they sort of looked like they might at 4am with a crowded bar, though it was about 2pm when there.

We were too busy enjoying our burgers that we forgot to save some for our special girl. The chef tonight was so generous he made a little one just for her. You're awesome man!

An underground pub & music venue with a completely vegan menu. The place is split into two large rooms - one with the bar, kitchen and eating area (they also have board games and a pool table) and the other with a cosy concert hall. The staff were friendly. The food was really good though the menu was a bit limited the day we were there (probably being mid-August and students being away) but we had a nice time. I had to ask for some changes to my dish due to a dietary restriction (in addition to being vegan) and they were happy to accommodate. Despite being next to the music room where a band was playing, the bar and dining area were quiet. We went to the music hall in the next room afterwards for a bit. Nice ambiance...younger crowd.

GREAT ATMOSPHERE WITH GOOD FOOD Was taken here on a Friday evening a couple days after new years. Arrived at around 7:30pm and there were a lot of tables available. Started getting a lot busier later on. I got the Colonel Chipotle burger which was recommended by one of the staff. It came with chips and coleslaw. Both were great quality and very more-ish. The burger was pretty good but honestly I like the sides a lot more. The burger patty was a little to thick for me. Still tasted great! The atmosphere is probably the best part of this place. It's in the sweet spot where it wasn't too busy or too quiet. They're also looked like there was a lot of events going on which I need to go back for! Would recommend going here if you're looking for a place with a decent meal and great atmosphere.

Very, very tasty food! Will definitely come back! Buffy season 1 was streaming for free in the room next door and it's a lovely casual atmosphere for such great food.

Loved the falafel toastie, so comforting!!! And no fresh coriander inside which was great. Amazing muffin and I was so thrilled to find a frangipane tart.

Menu has slowly been going downhill for years. Used to love this place and get excited to eat here, until they changed the menu the first time and everything on it seemed....average. I still enjoyed it to an extent but it was no longer my favourite restaurant. However, the recent changes to the menu is what really caused me to write this review. For example, their"Grilled Cheese" sandwiches are truly, truly awful. The Philly Cheese Steak was literally a piece of normal bread, toasted, with some undercooked seitan and some soggy onions and peppers. This was roughly £10. I swear I could have made it better at home and I'm not even a great cook. Their bathroom sinks are also never working, almost every time I have been there too. Seems to be taking a very long time to fix that. Completely disappointed in their effort recently. Good bar, good venue, maybe eat somewhere else.

Chilled vibe, great service and absolutely delicious food. Everything is 100% vegan and you know when a meal just hits the spot, well the grilled cheese with bacon did just that.

  • 5/5 Noel 4 years ago on Google • 32 reviews
Good grilled cheese club sandwich! The bacon was really good and the cheese was nice. Amazing value, it's 7£ and only 5.95£ for students! I was almost going to get garlic bread as a side when I ordered, but it wouldn't have been necessary as I was absolutely full from the fries and sandwich.

I loved the vibe of the place. It was completely suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It was a lovely setting and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had a Bean Burger with some apple cider and both were delicious. The burger was flavourful and full of a lot of leafy vegetables which was very different and enjoyable. Highly recommended. Thanks!

No contest for the best vegan food in Glasgow! Everything they make is superb and all the staff are great. Not for the faint of heart though, The Flying Duck definitely has a "underground hipster" vibe which might be off putting, but if that sounds intimidating, trust me, you'll be put to ease immediately by the relaxing atmosphere and cool staff!

Been here quite a few times. You could come here for a few pints or for food and feel pretty comfortable either way. The food is delicious. It’s a shame they took the fries off the menu as they used to have absolutely THE best fries ever. Here’s hoping they make a comeback!

  • 4/5 Mateusz O. 4 years ago on Google
Nice enough place, with casual atmosphere. The food is good, we had some loaded nachos and a burger. The nachos are good but don't really stand out, and they would be nicer with more salsa/fresh veggies instead of just mainly the 'cheese' sauce. The burger was ok but a bit bland and the patties could use more spices and seasoning. The chips and salads were good. You order at the bar, and they bring the food to you. The selection of drinks is decent, and the prices are ok. Worth a visit, I would probably give it another chance when in town.

If your looking for a bar to have a munch & a few drinks before you hit the city nightlife, then this is a good place to start. It's a basement vegan bar, I myself am not vegan but I still enjoyed the burgers. They were delicious! Staff were really nice also.

Took ages to get served even though place was quite empty on a Saturday early evening. Booked a table but told to sit anywhere when we asked. Drinks expensive. Food was good vegan junk food but would rather have had restaurant food for same price. Not the best Vegan place in Glasgow. Bonus it's near the cinema. Food was quite good if you like a burger.

Excellent menu, all vegan. Honestly I couldn't tell the pan fried prawns were not actual prawns. The meat substitutes were by far the best I've tasted in quite a few years. Also refreshing to see an establishment with realistic toilet protocol for the world we actually live in. Toilets were unisex and the flying duck has an anti homophobia, gernderphobia, seeing how-it-goes-phobia, so if it could have 10 out of 5, I would give it. Food excellent, cocktails brilliant, quality, friendly staff. Best pub in be found in the city.

  • 4/5 Ben B. 4 years ago on Google
Cool bar tucked away at the edge of the City Centre. Came mid-week and was pretty empty so can't comment on how the place is on a weekend but is quite large so I'm sure there's always lots of room. Not a vegan myself, came with a vegan friend knowing it's a vegan venue but did enjoy the vegan kebab. Food selection is quite limited even for a vegan place though I'd say. Staff were friendly and has a good drink selection. Reasonably priced.

At first you were ve-gone, now you will begone!! That's what i say whenever I eat at this place, the staff are often confused, now onto the important stuff. This place is fantastic, I've eating kebabs, ribs, mac and cheese and other things I have forgotten. All meat free, wowsers trousers. I would recommend anyone come here as in my opinion it's the second best vegan food in Glasgow, next to falafel to go. They do a beer and a burger deal not the cheapest but pretty damn reasonable. Good spot for a first date if they don't mind being underground and like scrabble. Also saw Sun Araw here lol. Thanks for reading

I love the atmosphere of this place; it feels like a secret club when you walk in. It's never empty but never too loud. The food is generally pretty good and will impress non-vegans' palates as well. My go-to are the chilli cheese fries, although sometimes they're a bit but and miss, hence taking one star off. The staff are always friendly and it's just a great place in general to spend a few hours hanging with friends and having a nice bite to eat, especially on a rainy day.

WOW! Quite simply the best hot dog I’ve ever eaten, both Vegan or not. Both the hotdogs and the loaded fries are a real taste sensation, and an especially messy affair so loud up on napkins!!! A great selection of ethical vegan mains, sides, cakes and drink. 5 massive vegan stars!!!

  • 5/5 Graeme Y. 3 years ago on Google
The Seatle Dog was one of best hotdogs I've ever had the pleasure of demolishing...especially when eaten with a side order of Nacho Fries. The fact that everything on the menu is 100% vegan is the 🍒 on an already tremendously good cake.

I don't want to rate as my review is very subjective, I didn't enjoy my 'Mac Dog' but maybe thats just as I dont enjoy hotdogs, especially american style like these. My first and last ever vegan hotdog, not for me, all through eating it I was thinking i cant wait for this to be over. gonna go for 4 stars as the staff were lovely and the shop was too

We tried to visit here today, must have called about 4 times to book a table and left a msg. We made our way up to the venue but found the doors to be shut at 6.30?!? So no idea if it’s still open?!

I've eaten here many times and the food is always fantastic. We had fish pakora, dosa, then slow cooked chicken and lamb with crispy okra for the mains. All of it was fantastic, really delicious. Many intense flavours. The portion size for the main is huge so I was completely stuffed at the end. Probably better to have 2 starters and then 1 curry between two people, that would definitely be enough food. The service was good.

Fantastic Indian curry and more dining experience. Beautiful space. Somewhat formal for children. Spicing is fabulous and though ask if your kids are sensitive to spice levels. Might be a bit strong for them if they haven’t yet developed a taste but oh dear, delicious if you love full, robust flavour!

Consistently excellent (and therefore incredibly popular!) Indian food. Focused menu with some dishes that are a little more unusual - the fish and green chilli pakora and lamb raan for example, which are both delicious. Generous portions. I’ve never had a bad dish here - the butter chicken is unreal. Make sure you book a table on the weekend. The first floor is the best place to sit. Service is always attentive. Popped in today to pick up a lamb masala and all the trimmings to take up to my partner who lives in argyll. He'd been laid up with the flu and i figured a curry would be a nice pick me up. Unfortunately we were left bitterly disappointed when it came to eating the meal. The vegetable pakora was nice albeit quite spiced and hot on the tongue. The naan, chapatis and rice were all fine....the lamb masala resembled a lamb madras, there was no sign of yoghurt or coconut and it was so spicy that my partner and i could not eat it. Our mouths were on fire....very disappointed. Certainly no comparison to the mother india cafe Their food is second to none.!

Coming from India, it is easy to find loads of so called Indian restaurants everywhere BUT very few are actually Indian with Authentic Indian food cooked the Indian way. Mother India is not among the crowd but stands out. The staff are very friendly, food prepared and tasted truely authentic Indian and the price reasonable. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to enjoy the true taste of India and not just something coming from neighbouring countries calling themselves as Indian.

There were the 4 of us who decided to go to this place for dinner inspired by the good reviews. I do not know if the staff/owner changed but it was not a pleasant experience. We ordered the burgers and all of us struggled to finish them, each one for different reasons: who got a too salty hamburger, who a too dry hamburger. All the mains came with the fries that were like those from McDonald (with all the due respect for the McDonald). Staff totally absent and without patience although there were 6 tables occupied so the place was at the lowest capacity. I honestly do not know if I want to give a second chance. There are many competitors who offer way higher food quality.

Went for drinks rather than food or to the venue, so can only speak to that. It was very cold, very uncomfortable and extremely overpriced. Staff were lovely, but overworked and struggling with the lack of signal for the card reader. The game tables are fun, and I had one chip off my friend and that tasted nice. Maybe it's better for food? Honestly, I hated it.

Came here for a live music night to support a friend. Arrived early to have some food first. Looked at the menu and saw classic kebab, bacon ect I was really looking forward to eating....then noticed everything was vegan 🤮. How is a classic kebab vegan? This is new age kebab not classic. Very misleading. Suffice to say I did not partake in that food. Each to their own I suppose but I think they would make more money catering for everyone. Vegans expect other restaurants to cater for them so they should cater for us normal people too, 1 rule for 1 and not the other. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. Beer prices were on average/high end for glasgow City centre. Staff were very polite and welcoming so 10/10 for that. Toilets are unisex with cubicles and open urinals, did not bother me but that could put some people off. On this occasion I went there was no running water in any of the taps so washing hands after hitting the heads was an issue. Good thing covid was around so you could still use hand gel. Free WiFi which was handy as the bars are downstairs in the basement so don't expect phone signal. Overall it was a friendly atmosphere and a half decent place to go, but unless I'm supporting a friend again I would not choose to go here again, unless they start catering for everyone, this in turn would up profits and depending on the greed of the owners lower the price of the beer. Food N/A / 10 Price 5/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Facilities 4/10 Service 10/10

Really nice service, food was delicious. The seitan big mac is my favourite. First time back since lockdown and we'll definitely make it a regular thing.

Hi there, so firstly I adore the flying duck! It’s a really great venue and it’s probably the only place I can think of that does a decent Vegan Mac and cheese! My only upset is that the venue isn’t accessible, it’s down a couple flights of stairs and The the gig venue is down even more stairs. And I know nothing can be done about it but I think having a bit more visibility on that the venue isn’t accessible would be amazing! I would recommend this venue though it’s a lively place and I’ve always felt welcomed! Just from the point of view of someone with access needs it’s tough to want to have events here as I have many pals who are also mobility impaired. But again too venue despite this

Always love the flying duck, feel like it's my duty to update my review now though as I don't believe they serve food any more 👎which is a shame because the vegan kebabs were aaaaammaaazing!
