Ate here yesterday for pre theatre food. Food was tasty enough but we thought we had ordered starters instead of mains as portions were quite small. Not value for money. Also objected to being asked if everything was good as the first mouthful passed my lips.

The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. French menu offering roast duck and other meats as well as vegetarian options. We booked online and used a Taste Card and got 2x1 in our meals.

Nice restaurant; booked a table during the week for the 2/3 course special. The selections were great and the food was awesome. The staff there were also very patient, as we had a somewhat late booking. I got some minced steak as my main and creme Brule as dessert, can't exactly remember what my friend ordered but I've inserted a photo. I'd definitely recommend the place.

The food was awesome as we ate there for 5 nights in a row. The Soup of the day, Haggis croquettes, Sunday roast, Braised beef, Chicken schnitzel, Beer battered haddock, LBA beef burger and their warm sticky toffee pudding was to die for. The negative about this place is that if you get there around 8pm then the staff tell you that they are expecting a large party and then try to deter you from eating there or tell you point blank that they cannot accommodate you even though the restaurant is mostly empty. We were staying at their hotel, so they had no choice but to give us a table, but this occurred every night with different staff. And every night, we noticed that their large party never materialized so I assume they do it on purpose so that they can clean up and go home early rather than have to deal with customer past 8pm.

The food here was fantastic. We had thought we ordered something simple given the menu and its decent prices but was blown away when the food arrived. This place manages to take some classic dishes and adds some real elegance to them. Most importantly, it all tasted amazing. Service was superb. The staff were super friendly and attentive. They managed to get our food to us with relatively little wait when we noticed we were running late for our cinema showing across the street. Thanks again LBA! BTW, the calamari was top notch.

Very clean. Lovely helpful staff. My order was a bit bespoke. I wanted a mix of stuff. No trouble. They catered for my every wish. I even got lots of extra maple syrup on request. Presentation of food was very good too. Highly recommended.

Amazingly friendly staff, very tasty food, and quick service. Fairly limited menu, but everything we had was quite tasty. Prices were a bit high, but we received a discount as hotel guests. Worth a stop if you're staying at the connected Holiday Inn.

Lovely Christmas menu with hot food and hot plates. A real difficulty is selection from a number of tempting sounding dishes. Mist have a twist on the ordinary which makes a repeat visit a near necessity before the festive season ends.

Absolutely AMAZING food, could not even fault it. Cocktails... Well they could have been done better, but you work with what you got. Service lovely. But the food and style were just astounding. Well done to the chefs. Cause the food was bloody fab.

It’s an ok place with decent staff, if somewhat lacking in atmosphere. They don’t sell any Scottish beer or lager though - as a matter of policy. Just another foreign multiple. They won’t get my custom again.

I've visited La Bonne Auberge several times over the past year (so consider that things might have changed since then), dining at lunch, dinner, and in the afternoon. At lunch time, the sirloin steak and pasta dishes I tried were delicious and some of the best I've tried in Glasgow. Conveniently located near the bus station, it made for a tasty pitstop. During my evening visit, the cocktails and food were enjoyable but our main waiter had such a poor attitude, and we felt overlooked by other staff. However, the cuisine was still high quality. Unfortunately, my afternoon experience fell short. The restaurant was noisy and crowded with hotel guests, and we were seated but ignored for 15 minutes by the busy staff until we decided to leave. The dining room also seemed incredibly dirty and unkempt, with pastry crumbs everywhere. So it's been a mixed bag. At its best, La Bonne Auberge provides top-notch dishes and drinks in a convenient location. But inconsistent service and cleanliness make it unreliable.

Nice bar restaurant across from concert hall on the cross roads junction. The menu is short on choice but acceptable for pre theatre and portion sizes , the food is clean and very tasty which I mean prepared by a decent chef ! To add compliment to the chef I also have to compliment the table staff 👏👏👏👏👏 all three waiters/ waitresses At last a restaurant that its staff use manners and decorum as well as table etiquettes, serve from the right etc and clearing table which is basic restaurant practices , I would happily eat and drink here again

Me and my boyfriend were in Glasgow for the Christmas Market yesterday and we thought to try this brasserie. The food was really good, we had bruschetta, chicken and duck breast. We were easily accommodated as we didn't have a booking. I recommend to try this place.

Was here on 14/12/21 for a pre theater meal with my mother . French onion soup was delicious rich and slightly sweet and very filling. I had the sea bass and it was to die for beautifully crispy skin all over and perfectly flaky tender flesh inside the cheddar mash and leek and sweetcorn sauce were the perfect accompaniment to the fish. My mother had the beef bourguignon and it was beautifully rich and tender and such silky smooth mash alongside . Excellent service such polite and attentive staff and a very enjoyable ambiance . Will definitely need to find an excuse to visit again

Friendly staff, clean cutlery. Although this is our first visit to Glasgow, I think La Bonne Auberge is one of the coolest restaurants around here.

Very poor service, was with some friends from the USA and we were embarrassed at the service levels we gave up on asking for water after 4 requests were ignored, the food was disappointing and the two Cesar salads were something you would never serve up at home. food drinks service and the bill we all had to go find staff, expect they might be short staffed,

What a night myself and my husband had for our Golden Wedding thanks to chef Jamie Mac and William for arranging a beautiful and fabulous 6 course tasting menu for us, which actually turned in to 7 courses, from the start we were made to feel so special from sitting down with champagne waiting for us on the table to leaving, The food was delicious as always and all the staff could not have done anymore for us it was an amazing night and ended with lovely card signed by the staff, Thank you all

Just awful…..lunchtime on Sunday.Only good news - nice young lady greeting and serving.Otherwise, really poor, boring croque monsieurs and equally poor thing with focaccia. Absurdly… no wine list…just red or white. Sauvignon blanc chosen - only one bottle available and second bottle completely different, and final bad news,to find these wines charged at £27 each..

Another visit today, one of many , and as always the service and the quality of the food and drink are 10/10 impeccable, a great place to dine out day or night, thoroughly recommend, the staff are second to none . 10/10 A+ Spotlessly clean, impeccable service from very well presented and well mannered bar and waiting staff, a friendly yet laid back quiet space in Glasgow City centre adjacent to Buchanan Bus station. Good menu and good selection of drinks, they evidently have a very good chef in house. Highly recommended any time morning, noon or night for great food and a nice atmosphere, have been several times and will return. A+ Visited for breakfast today, 6th October, service excellent as always. ************** Popped by for breakfast with my mother today December 7th 2019 , great service and very nice food as always. A+ again 👍 Visited again today, 26th September 2021 having also visited the last few weekends , as always spotlessly clean, food A++ and service very very good, all staff very polite and friendly , great place to eat out , even in these difficult and problematic times with the pandemic chaos they have held everything together. Please remember to tip the staff if you can, they are well worth it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐10/10

Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Glasgow in recent years. Menu was different from the website, limited menu access not advised on the website, food had run out, mains arrived cold, food was so late we didn’t have time for dessert. When we eventually spoke to the manager he was smug and insolent and behaved like he was doing us a favour not charging for a coffee and a tiny bowl of ice cream. To say we’ll never be back is an understatement.

Previously a very good place and now poor. Ordered from the Xmas menu and what came was like a school dinner. Service not the best either.

  • 3/5 Doreen S. 1 year ago on Google
The food was lovely but the portion size for my main course, fish, was rather small and didn't fill me, so I was glad I could have biscuits and cheese to follow. My husband and mother's portion sizes were fine so I was just unlucky. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. We were seated in the conservatory area and we all felt rather chilly. This needs to be better heated for the comfort of diners. I do like the restaurant, food is delicious, service good, lovely decor so if the conservatory could be warmer it would get more stars from me.

3 of us had an excellent, leisurely evening. Quiet (no music). excellent waiting staff, no 'hovering' but there when needed. Restricted menu but we had duck, steak and beef stew. Fish and vegetarian also available. Enjoyable starters and puddings or cheese. Fixed price just under £30pp for 3 courses - drinks the equivalent of a 4th person. Thank you for the good food, beautifully presented.

Mixed bag here really as we had both dinner and breakfast. Dinner service was very slow, despite there seeming to be enough staff on, but the food itself was great. Breakfast the following morning, however, was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold and staff going out their way to ensure everyone was happy. And, despite the slow dinner service, we would still recommend it.

I recently visited this restaurant that left me extremely disappointed with the poor customer service received. Once seated the service only got worse as it took incredibly long for my order to be taken, and even longer for my food to arrive. I even had to go up and ask for the bill myself as the waiters/waitresses were hiding at the bar area and also bring my bill to pay at the counter. For the price of the food quality and the level of poor service I would likely not be back again.

Used to be top tier. One of the best places for wine in town. Now they offer wines comparable to a weatherspoons and their experianced staff think an irish coffee is a mug of black coffee and a shot of whisky

La Bonne Auberge used to be one of my favourite restaurants, however, I think we may have visited for the last time. The food and service in La Bonne Auberge used to be exceptional. On this visit, however, both were poor. The service felt impersonal and lacked the standard that you would expect of a high quality restaurant - and that you used to receive. Correcting a drinks order that was taken incorrectly was very much seen as a hassle, despite this having been their mistake. There also seemed to be a lack of care or attention, and I'm unclear if staff had a particular knowledge of the dishes on the menu, but it certainly did not seem so. I don't know if all of this is down to restaurant budgets, and they now regularly use agency staff, but whatever it is, the service really should be better. The food was also a disappointment. I've previously had some of the best meals I've enjoyed in Glasgow at La Bonne Auberge over the last 20 years, however, the food on this visit was average at best, and is the main reason we will be unlikely to look to go back. The menu itself comes across as slightly dated - which is fine, as long as the food is of an exceptionally high standard. It was not. Only the starters that our group had were of the standard that we expected, the mains were all very average, and the desserts were, on the whole quite poor, which led us to question how much of them was made from scratch, and how much was frozen components. Overall the experience was poor, and topped off by the fact that we were placed at a table in the conservatory which they had earmarked for a promotion, and which was setting up as we dined, and starting as we finished. Why we weren't sat elsewhere was another thing which boggled the mind. Adieu La Bonne Auberge, it was nice while it lasted.

We visited this restaurant as we were given a giftcard from a family member. Prior to our visit we had accessed the online menu and selected what we wanted to order. On arrival we were presented with a pre theatre menu while other diners were presented with an a la carte menu. There were no items on the pre theatre menu which we had picked from the online menu. We asked for an alternative menu and we were told the items on the a la carte menu would take much longer to prepare and there was a reluctance to give us this menu. After justifying our need for the a la carte menu, it was given to us. This process left us feeling undervalued as customers as we appeared to receive a different level of service compared to other diners. This really left us feeling annoyed and meant we did not enjoy our time in the restaurant. Also my son was given a chipped glass it was replacement when pointed out to the member of staff, and also my pate has oxygenated all the way around the sides when it was served to me so had been lying out for a while standards were not met very disappointed underwhelmed and upset that we were stereotyped as soon as we walked in and only offered the set menu unlike the other guests.

Popped in here this evening for drinks before catching bus home. Staff were so lovely, loved the decor. The Sauvignon Blanc was very nice and when the server brought my Mums tea over with a piece of tablet, I joked about getting a piece with my wine. He was so nice and brought me a couple of bits. Will defo be back, not just for the tablet though, would love to try the food.

Food is delicious and absolutely recommend the food, especially the French onion soup and braised beef, and place itself is beautiful and friendly staff but the service can be very poor with the kitchen especially for a busy night. Table of four sat at 6.30pm and everything done by 8.45pm was shocking. Huge gabs inbetween starter and main. Although we appreciated deducting all the drinks off the bill which helped our cost and made your review 3 instead of 2, but we were almost late for our cinema showing which started at 8.30pm. Lucky theres 20 minutes of adverts! Dont go if you have a pre booked cinema date!
