What
a
beautiful
hotel
with
a
disastrous
lack
of
focus.
Let's
start
with
what
is
good:
It
is
beautifully
decorated.
The
dark
decor
makes
for
a
lovely,
moody
vibe.
The
shower
is
great
and
easy
to
use.
The
coffee
bar
worked
well,
and
the
towels
are
perfect.
It
is
nicely
quiet,
and
the
restaurant
and
bar
are
great.
But
here's
what
didn't
work,
and
it
was
significant:
1.
The
mattress
was
completely
worn
out
with
two
worn
ditches
where
people
have
slept.
It
was
literally
visible
to
the
eye.
We
decided
to
try
to
struggle
through.
Bad
decision.
2.
The
dim
lighting,
while
beautiful,
is
completely
insufficient
for
daytime
activities
such
as
packing,
unpacking,
or
reading.
Even
with
the
lovely
blackout
curtains
open,
it's
too
dark
during
the
day.
3.
Malfunctioning
lights
abound.
One
lovely
wall
sconce
bedside
the
TV
was
burned
out
for
three
days.
No
one
noticed.
The
light
in
the
closet
area
flickered
nonstop
and
had
to
be
turned
off.
No
one
noticed.
4.
The
television
turns
itself
off
every
ten
minutes
on
its
own.
The
engineer
said
he'd
check
it,
but
if
he
did,
it
was
neither
repaired
nor
replaced.
5.
And
all
this
ended
with
a
missing
white
nightgown
that
had
been
hand-washed
and
left
air
drying
behind
the
bathroom
door.
They
said
they're
looking
for
it,
but
I
have
three
more
weeks
of
travel.
I
want
this
lovely
place
to
succeed,
but
someone
is
going
to
need
to
focus.
