TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE + INCONSIDERATE POLICY + IRRESPONSIBILITY I booked an ensuite room from Jan to July 2021. Due to the Covid-19 variant, my plane was cancelled in Jan which made me unable to travel to Glasgow and the room remained empty for the whole tenancy. They had a flexible-checkin policy that enables a partial refund to customers, but finally I got nothing back because I didn't move-in! I don't think it's a considerate policy for international students whose schedules were interrupted by the travel ban during the Covid period. As I know, many students lost all of their rents(one year) for the same reason. What annoyed me most was their customer service. I sent them at least 6 same emails to ask one simple question, they used more than 2 months to get back to me! They only replied on Monday and every time they had different staff asked me to verify my identity, and then I needed to re-send the message and start again! I also booked a £65 arrival pack from their commercial partner on the United Students official website. When I got back to them and asked for a refund since I don't need that any more, the Unite Students told me that they couldn't find the booking information or the pack, however, their commercial partner told me that they had delivered the pack but now is unable to track it! Thank god I didn't really move in or it would be a total disaster when I arrived, and the arrival pack really made non-sense! I should donate the money as I won't really get what I paid for from the United Students! If you are seeking economical and lovely accommodation, I strongly recommend you to consider university accommodations at first, which really value students' experience and enable you to complain that help them to enhance the service. The United Students could only be a compromise. You can't trust such an irresponsible agency.

The stated weekly price is alright but the way that the payments are structured means that you pay £600+ month. You can get the same style of room in other places for a cheeper rate. Rooms get very hot easily and it is difficult to cool down the room. All vents are connected between room and controlled by a master search connected to the extractor fan in the kitchen. If you are cooking when someone is napping, turn on the extractor fan risks waking them up. Showers are fixed to the wall making it hard to clean the shower.

I left the accomodation today and it was the worst experience in my life. We got a parking ticket during a 5 minute drop off and the staff gave me a sarcastic smile when I asked why. So my brother had to wait in the car whilst I took everything down, which was hell. The staff was not supportive and I heard them say, "now that they don't live with us, we do not need to be nice". Honestly I advice living else where.

A bit expensive, but the staff is nice and supportive. It's also quite quiet despite being next to ScotRail. The Appartments were small but very clean and functional. All in all a pretty good experience.

Did building work all year, keeping you up from early morning to late at night. No recycling bins outside but just general bins full of rubbish and rats running around. Most of the staff are miserable and completely unhelpful. No sound proofing between rooms so you can hear the everything. Really would not recommend living here.

Booked a year ago and wasn't made aware of the work that was scheduled to be done this year. Constantly got noise going on, not even quiet, it's the most noisy thing I've ever experienced. Happened early morning to late at night. And then it got delayed and now it's going on on Saturdays, just what you need as a full time student. Really badly affected my year of studying so now have to resit the year I am in and because of this I have to pay my own tuition fees. So thank you unite truly. And the balcony view is obstructed absolute joke

It works. Cheap but the washing machine and dryers are expensive. The dryers are kinda bad so make sure to buy a coathanger. The people are great and in the initial Covid wave they took care of us. Great location too. Just get yourself a dryer and you'll be good. Kinda out of the way for shopping too but it's nice. Aldi and pharmacy are close too. 2020 review.

They don’t care about the noise at all. They do lots of work building while you are living in. It is supposed to be a student accommodation and we cannot study neither sleep. These are videotapes to show how is it like. It happens all business days monday to friday 8AM-5PM.

The drilling is beyond unbearable and is going to continue going into the next fall semester. Book here if you want to spend over 200 pounds a week for the most obnoxious construction noises you'll ever hear in your life every day from 9 to 5.

Living here for a year. The rooms are small but in a reasonable price and in a very good area in the heart of Glasgow next to all nightlife. Its a quite place and there are many student accommodations around.

+ Great location, competitive prices, friendly stuff, big workspace desk within the rooms, relatively quiet environment - Lacks amenities other student halls offer, ISP is hands-down horrible Lived in the building for three years.

Lack of support when noise complaints are made. Wouldn't recommend here as I've been ill for over a month because I haven't been able to sleep or anything.

alright place. had a very strange experience though in my bathroom. started to call it bug of the month.. without fail every month for my entire stay at this student accommodation there was a random, unidentifiable insect just hanging out on my bathroom floor. there was also a roach infestation at one point and a bunch of rats chilling in the car park. overall, it was funny.

Just moved out after a year of living there. The construction was a constant, ranging from a mild annoyance to complete joke, making your entire room shake (this most likely won’t be an issue with newer tenants but just a warning for any future work). The walls are very thin, allowing you to hear every word your next door flatmate is saying. At many points during the year the heating in the building is cranked up to such an uncomfortable degree that in October the building was disgustingly humid and warm (I had a 4th story room, may be less of an issue on lower floors). Bathroom facilities seemed to be constantly faulty, with my sink and shower both becoming blocked several times throughout the year. The bin situation wasn’t ideal, with rats being pretty common, but I understand this was a direct consequence of the construction, but still wasn’t the nicest before construction had started. Laundry facilities were expensive and were often out of order, making it hard to plan large washing loads. The location of the building is very very good, placing you in the centre of the city with great public transport options. In my experiences all the front desk staff were absolutely lovely, including both day and night staff. Overall would not highly recommend Unite Blackfriars as it feels like the cons out way the pros.
