One of three identical statues from 1867, the other two are located in Central Park, New York City and Les Jardins Tuileries, Paris.

Created by Auguste-Nicolas Cain, this statue depicts a Tigress returning to her cubs with a kill. It stands atop a granite pedestal designed by John Mossman and was unveiled in the park in 1867. The tigress stands proudly over atop the pedestal as if announcing her place at the apex of the food chain. In that way, it's a little odd because the focus is the majesty of her stance rather than the return of a kill for her cubs. A great statue nevertheless.

This early 20th century Park is a gem nestling in the city with a world class museum and gallery as just the start. The monuments speak to the scholars, industrialists, engineers and warriors for which Glasgow is world renowned and there is a pleasant Riverside pathway which will take all the way to the city's Botanic Gardens. All in all, its a great place to spend a day come rain or shine.
