😠 A year ago I was in here I was shocked at the lack of care by the staff .couldnt sleep at night because staff were talking and laughing . I am type 2, diabetic and hadnt had anything to eat since 5pm ...at 10pm I asked if we were getting supper .ie. a slice of toast I was told by a nurse as she walk... When I was a Patient in Tate ward I felt 10x more depressed and there is no proper support all they done what restrain me and give me a jag up the back side and filled me up with loads of different tablets that made me sleep all the time I was so scared the whole two and half weeks in there the staff where not one bit friendly all I wanted to do is go home where I felt safe the ward was not one bit home lay I was not allowed my window open at night time and at night time I like the fresh air because it helps me sleep at night time I was not allowed to see my friends or my family and I was not allowed to see my support workers and i was crying every single night because of how scared and lonely I was and I was put under a 28 day detention under the mental health act and if I never contacted my lawyer they probably would have not let me out they knew I would not go down with out a fight

Some staff are nice enough and caring but others are plain rude, offensive and inconsiderate to unwell people trying to recover. There is no therapeutic work available here.

I think this hospital is in the dark ages if your disabled walk very slow it's easier for patient to walk down to hub to help with things to take back to ward plus biggest majority of patients are bored out there mind I just hate going there to visit family member

Staff at the hub extremely kind and empathetic to very vulnerable patients, more so than most of so called professionals.

Very large grounds with a lot of different buildings . The general hospital is the first building you come to from the main road and the others line the road on the right hand side .

First time at this hospital (Tate ward) for a very traumatic experience that needed some special therapy/treatment and I’m ever so grateful to the staff for their help and for being so efficient. It’s a fantastic ward and very safe feeling with a lovely vibe for a psychiatric hospital compared to one I’ve been in overnight that felt similar to what I imagine a prison feels like. This place is lovely but I do think there could be better communication esp when there are shift changes. It would be helpful to get a booklet on what to do if feeling a certain way (when to approach staff and how often and what the limits are etc). It’s scary going into a psychiatric ward as it’s when you are most vulnerable but taking that help is so courageous and important. No shame in that at all. I met some lovely patients on the ward and I’m really glad I accepted the help I clearly needed. If the NHS was funded better I think the staff and patients would benefit much more. Very helpful ward and staff. Good environment for the type of place it is. Lovely consultants and duty doctors in my experience. Everything is patient centred so it’s even more helpful. If anyone sadly needs a mental health hospital I hope you get this one as it’s fantastic. They have no set time for visitors either but just request visitors respect meal times (midday and 5-6pm). Hope this helps

I would suggest to parents of a young person who is having difficulties with their mental health to take a different path. I have for the most part recovered which has been achieved by taking control of my own life. The marie trust in glasgow offer psychology courses and volunteer opportunities. This is the path to take not this hospital. The book the drama of being a child y alice miller will explain to you what the psychiatrist knows . Destroy your tower begin to build your bridge and start the jorney on your path to your life.
