This place is a bit of an institution and unique in the Glasgow area. I wouldn't go anywhere else for any quality vintage timepiece - either to purchase, value or service.

Twice now I’ve tried to take watches here for a service/overhaul. One was my late fathers watch and I explained it’s importance to me but got snubbed because it had “a cheap Chinese movement”. Another was a vintage Seiko that I just wanted to be stripped down, cleaned and lubricated which is a watchmakers bread and butter but just got told it “has an obsolete movement” but the movement is so common place you can find whole donor movements everywhere but no I just got turned away again. My impression now from my two visits here is that unless your watch is a luxury Swiss brand then Martins of Glasgow aren’t interested in helping you and will just talk down to you in a condescending manner.

Drop watch off for service quote was told no obligation quote but I had to pay £35 to get watch back!!! And another 2 weeks. Waited nearly 3 weeks for that information will use a proper watch shop no hidden costs slightly cheaper and much much quicker and better service.

Just getting around to writing this review just now. A few years ago I put my Tag aquaracer in for a service/crown issue via Martins. It was fixed and was ok for a few years however the fault re occurred late 2022 just outwith warranty. I called Martins and the owner informed me that whilst I was out of warranty, TAG had extended new warranties in the interim but I was unlucky. The owner spoke to TAG and not only was my watch fixed outwith warranty, it came back with a renewed one. Make no mistake, Swiss watch companies don't do anyone any favours, and that Martins owed me nothing......but they went above and beyond. Frankly, brilliant folks.....God bless the wee jewellers shop on the Maryhill Road

Many thanks to Martin & Graham. Just picked up my Rolex Date 1500. In for a service and a bit of TLC. It certainly got that. The watch is 40 years old and it is now like the day I bought it. Delighted. Great to talk to you. Cannot recommend Martins of Glasgow highly enough. Five star for me ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recently bought a vintage watch that had a mystery rattle within the case. A competing watch repair place quoted me £175 claiming it would likely need a full service. When I took it to Martin's he opened the watch and explained that it was just missing two screws holding the movement in place. Fixed on the spot and saved me from being totally ripped off. Will definitely go back if I need any repairs or services in the future. Incredibly friendly people and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Martin and his team as simply awesome. Very friendly, understanding and their knowledge of watches is second to none. I dropped in a 1970 Breitling Top Time for a service and it was returned to fully working, keeping great time and in practically mint condition. Incredible job. If you are needing a watch fixed, repaired or serviced, go straight there - best in Glasgow and the only one I would trust with my watches (and I include the brand retail shops in that!)

Found my great grandfathers watches which were out of commission on account of them being 100+ years old, took them here and the pocketwatch in particular now takes good time and was an incredible job (see pictures). Staff were always amazing, 100% would recommend.

I went here because of their good reviews. I had a great experience and my old watch is back in use again. I took in an old Raymond Weil watch minus it's strap. The glass was all scratched so I was looking to have that replaced plus have it's new strap put on. The lady behind the counter was helpful and polite. Even when I realised I,d forgotten the strap there was no problem. Once it was ready to collect I received a phone call. The strap was put on without any fuss and there was no upselling etc. I don't know what they did but the old watch is the best it's looked in a long time. Not once did I detect any negativity about it not being a fancy or expensive time piece. Professional, polite and did a great job. Highly recommended

Had my Omega serviced in Martin's. It wasn't sealed correctly and I got some water inside the case. Martin's took it back and completely refurbished it, no questions asked and at there expense. it's better than new. Five star service from a five star team

1st Class Service, I had an awkward job of replacing a Cemented in Glass on a Roy King Watch, Martin provided this Service, but not only that, he found the hour hand movement had a problem and he replaced that too ( no extra charge). I Can Fully recommend Martin's of Glasgow as the Best Service and Best Priced watch repair. Martin is a Great, friendly guy and kept me updated throughout the repair.

What a gem of a place had been looking all over to find someone to remove the links on my Tudor watch as someone previously had chewed the heads of the screws. Popped in here and was done in 5mins. Very very professional, there years of experience really shows. I will be back soon for services on my other watches. Highly recommended.

Absolute brilliant experience with Martin, my uncle has been using Martin for many many years, and recommended him to fix my Rolex Very Professional and really happy with the results.

Like the vast majority of folks here was really impressed with the service. Took in 3 watches and the bill averaged out a c£10 per watch to fix....that is outstanding value....I will certainly be back.

I took my 40 year old Tissot Seastar in to Martin for a service. The watch was losing about seven minutes a week. After the service, time keeping is excellent, more than please his work. Highly recommended.

Hi Martin, just a short note to thank you both so much for the great work carried out on our watches. They also look brand new, Wonderful! My wife had no idea I put her Rado watch in for service and she was over the moon to have the watch on her wrist again. The watch is very sentimental to her. I’m so glad she didn’t go through the drawers looking for it while it was with you being serviced. thank you again kind regards Edward

My great-grandfathers pocket watched was passed on to me by my gran ten years ago, it hadn't been working for years before I received it, the hands were broken and it has lost most of its shine. It really needed some new life put into it. I contacted Martin and took it along to the shop to see what work needed done and to try learn a little more about it. Martin and Gail were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Thankfully, the watch could be repaired and for a reasonable price. Two weeks later, we collected the watch, and the work done to it was incredible. Back to full working order, all polished up looking almost new and both my gran and myself learned a bit more about its history. I can thank and recommend Martin's of Glasgow enough, a priceless family heirloom lives on because of their work! (Before and after pics attached)

Not a place I would trust with any time piece, and I cannot stress that enough. Damaged my watch and acted like nothing had happened. That should tell you what kind of people run this spit and sawdust operation. Enter at your peril.

Breitling battery change - amazing! Have done a super job - super friendly - done via the post from England. 100% recommended.

High quality and friendly repairs, Martin found a matching ruby when one fell out of my antique engagement ring and did a bracelet repair at a very good price. I'd recommend to anyone.

I really can't thank Martin's of Glasgow enough. Very kind, professional, and reasonably priced. I brought in 2 of my dad's watches, one a very well worn Rotary watch from the late 80s, and one a newer Heritor watch that I just needed a few links removed from so it would fit me. I'm over the moon with the work done to both (but mainly the Rotary watch as I really was not sure if this watch was ever going to work again!) I now get a have a little piece of my dad with me every day. Thanks again.

I sent an Omega watch of my late father's, from the early 1950s to Martins. It was in a bit of a sorry state with the dial damaged, the glass and metalwork all scratched and not keeping good time. It has come back today looking absolutely beautiful and like brand new. I am delighted.
