Bar far the best barbecue we had on our trip to Texas. The walls were decorated with cute signs and memorabilia. The tables are red picnic tables. Our waitress was fabulous. She helped us decide what to order. I had a chopped brisket filled baked potato. My husband had a sample plate. Absolutely everything on the plate was delicious, but we both agreed the chopped brisket was the best. I was stuffed, but my husband ordered the apple cobbler with ice cream. It was served hot and tasted like it was made by my grandma. Best lunch in a long time. So glad we stopped!

This place is so so good. Moist brisket, great ribs, best smoked turkey ever, potatoe salad. Beans and green beans are the bomb. Service was amazing.. Definitely great BBQ. We snuck up on this place as we drove thru Glen Rose. Packed house but great all the way around. Chic decor too!

After passing by Hammond for the last 3 or 4 years we finally pulled into try the barbecue. They're barbecue is awesome It is the best around The ribs are some of the best I've ever had. The brisket was lean, the sausage was awesome. We tried potato salad, fried okra and coleslaw all very very good. We had the peach cobbler and a buttermilk pie while a little pricey they were big helpings and The buttermilk pie was some of the best I ever had. If you're wanting good barbecue let me correct that excellent barbecue it is well worth the 15-minute drive to Glen Rose you will not be disappointed.

On your way to Marble Falls or Horseshoe Bay? Hungry? We made a yummy, quick stop without getting off of of 67! Delicious barbecue in a fun, Texas proud atmosphere. Seat yourself and be treated to friendly service almost immediately. Everything we ordered was hot and tasted great. We wanted to try the homemade cobbler, but we were stuffed. Next time…

Ohhhh where to start... well the brisket was so dry I almost choked trying to get it down and had ZERO bark it's like they cut it off or don't know how to smoke a brisket correctly... the sides were mediocre added salt to the beans and green beans the waitress Britt made the experience manageable but if you're a brisket person like I am I'd say pass on this place check my other reviews I've been to some of the best spots in Texas

I have been coming to Hammonds, since it first opened, in the old building, and came back after the fire and the new building was built. Larry & His wife have spent years building the solid reputation they had for good food-great service and fair prices. The new owner has almost ruined the place with cold dry brisket- less than savory BBQ sauce now left on the tables at room temp- and changed recipes on the Pinto beans and Coleslaw from good to lousy! I am sure the new owner had zero restaurant experience and is looking to save money with his investment. However I also see this long established business closing for good due to its poor management. I wish Larry and His wife a happy retirement and now must find a new BBQ place to go to. I hope the new one on 144 opens soon and its food is great. I won't go back to Hammond's after over 40 years of patronage. And THAT is sad!

This was a great place for our huge party. We took up 4 tables and they had room to accommodate the lot of us. They didn't let multiple tickets bother them and the food was delivered hot, fresh, and fast. A loaded baked potato with a generous portion of chopped brisket in top was less than 9 dollars. Definitely will return. And they had the Rangers playoff game on the TV.

The staff ( Valerie and Merae) were pleasant, awesome and quick. The food was fantastic! Hammond's will be on our dining list every trip we make to Glen Rose. It's some of the best food we've eaten. It was so good we ate there 2 days in a row.

Let me start by saying the waitress, Brittany, was fantastic. She was polite and greeted us with a warm smile. The atmosphere was rustic and fun. On to the food. Where are these people getting "melt in your mouth brisket" from? This was the most dry and flavorless brisket I have ever had. I ordered lean as usual and requested specifically that the fat not be cut off, but that's what I got. My coworker ordered moist, guess what, his fat was cut off too. They don't know what they're doing as far as the brisket goes. His moist looked exactly like my lean. Like the cutter didn't know what to do and grabbed both of our orders from the store bought Jack Daniel's brisket you reheat in the microwave. I will not be coming back here, go to Sonic down the street. You will get better food there. The okra was OK, the coleslaw not so much. Do better, be better. That is all....

Man what a huge disappointment todays dinner was. We have been coming to hammonds for a very long time and have never ever had a bad bbq plate or service. Today I received both. I ordered the rib basket as always with a baked potato. Ribs were cold to the touch and my potato was not fully cooked. We only saw the waitress 1 time after receiving my food, I told here I was very surprised the ribs were cold as I’ve always had great experience. She explains they have new cooks and would microwave the ribs for me. I made the mistake and told her that’s fine. When she brought the back out they were smoldering hot and way over cooked chewy at this point. Just smiled and said thank you. As I go up to pay for my meal the lady at the cashier desk was sucking on a sucker and never asked me how I was doing or how my food was which they ALWAYS do but not this time. I’m not the one to raise a problem but I would have explained to her my frustration today. $60 we spent and not a soul asked us how we were doing or how the food was. Guess we will not drive 45 minutes Ike way to go to Hammonds anymore. Sad deal I’ve loved this place the last 30 times I’ve been here and 1 bad experience can ruin it for life. So weird not a soul checked on us but 1 time, never even came back to see if the ribs were better.

Great place to stop by after visiting Fossil Rim. I was actually surprised by the price. It was cheaper than I thought. The atmosphere was great and the service was super fast. It is BYOB so you can stop by next door and buy a beer to have with your barbecue. Brisket was great but the peach cobbler is to die for. Definitely recommend this place.

Saw advertisements for this place at Fossil Rim Wildlife Park, so we decided to give it a try after, and it did not disappoint! Got the combo dinner plate with chopped beef, hot links, and sausage; all the meats were extremely delicious and full of flavor all on their own, but the sauce was also too good not to use. Service was super fast and friendly, and lots of cool vintage signs and license plates all over the walls to look at. When people rave about Texas BBQ, this is one of the places they're talking about.

I love their marbled brisket. However, having a craving for a burger and whataburger closed for remodeling, I made this big mistake. A hamburger from Hammonds. It was a boiled, flavorless paddie with soft, soggy flavorless bread. Please remove this option from your menu before someone else's has a ruined evening.

This is definitely a local spot that you have to try! Every single item we got was amazing. Ribs, chopped beef, ocra, coleslaw, turkey, chicken strips (for the kiddo) & onion rings. All so good! And we had peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler. Save room for it, you won’t be disappointed!

Been going here for 30 years and they have kept the quality as high as ever. Brisket is tender without being over smoked. Pork ribs are - let me put it this way- if I was a pork rib I would want to be prepared this way. The rub is spot on and don't even think about putting sauce on these lovelies. Oh yeah, the sauce is true Texas and the onion rings are crunchy and oh so tasty. Not gonna lie, miss the sawdust on the floor.

Our first visit and was very pleased and comforting. Plenty of space, good people and awesome BBQ (meat was so tender) endless sauce, endless paper towels and sides were plentiful and homemade! The sweet tea was just right! 👍Owner/cook came to our table to check in on us.💛 Good small talk, small town atmosphere, loved the hundreds of license plates and old farm tools!
