We stayed two nights at this hotel back in July 14-16. We made our way to our room excited because it was in the penthouse level of the hotel, however, as soon as we stepped out of the elevator you couldn’t ignore the super hot hallway. We got to our room only to find out that it was super hot and stuffy. The room was huge, it had a king size bed in a separate bedroom and a huge living area with a sofa bed. We turned on the tiny coolers at full force, however, for the size of the room the two coolers were not enough. We decided to leave the room and get dinner which took over two hours. We went back to the room and the room was still super hot and stuffy. We had to request a change of room to something cooler due to my dad’s medical condition. They moved us to room that had two attached bedrooms which thankfully was so much cooler than the prior room. However, this room was falling apart. The bathtub had terrible wear and tear, it’s obvious that tub needs to be replaced. The knobs on the doors were so loose and the shower head was about to fall off. To our surprise, there was no shower curtain in the tub, so we had to wait for maintenance to bring the curtain. The carpet needs some serious cleaning or perhaps needs to be replaced. In my opinion, due to the condition of the hotel, they should not be charging the high rates they are charging. I get that the charm of the hotel is the fact that it’s historical, but that doesn’t mean that the room is falling apart. The only plus to this hotel was the courtyard and the short distance to the hot springs. The restaurant is over priced for the quality of the food. I ordered a well done steak and it was bloody, so I told the waiter about it and the manager came and took the steak to be cooked again. It was brought back, but I was already grossed out by the blood that I didn’t eat it. The waiter told me to order it charred next time. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

What a beautiful gem, nestled in the peaks of the Rockies!! This old town has lots of history, much of which took place within the walls of the Hotel Colorado. At one point, known as "the western White House", Teddy Roosevelt spent quite a bit of his time here. With pictures and stories or sculptures to cute your will learn lots about one of Americas greatest presidents. It also happens to be the birth place of what we now know as "the teddy bear" and many other neat bits of history. The property is beautiful with gorgeous flowers hanging from every awning; it's quite the spectacle. In the summer months the restaurant is hosted on the patio during the evenings and inside for breakfasts. The layout is spacious and reminiscent of an older time when cramming as many rooms as you can into a building wasn't a thing.. The only downside I can speak of is there is no refrigerator in your room, so you can't bring perishables or keep a cold drink. If you're a history buff or just want to experience a regal old building, this is the place to go! The service was top notch our wait staff was phenomenal. We will be back for sure!

I first came here in 2006 and loved it. Had time to check it out again after hearing that it was recently renovated and it was still amazing! Great staff, lots of cool history to walk around and look at. They were careful to preserve all the history while making upgrades in the renovation. Even if you don't plan to stay here, at least walk around the grounds and check it out. You can freely walk up and down the stairs and check out all the exhibits on each floor.

My wife and I had a great stay at the hotel. It’s staff is absolutely top notch, they are service minded to the highest degree. The food was great, the room was nice, and enjoyed learning about the history of the place too. We had our wedding reception in the Colorado room, it hosted 80 people comfortably. The food was great, and again top notch service. Thanks to Kristen our coordinator for all her quick service!

The staff at the hotel is phenomenal, they were friendly and helpful and even answered all of our silly ghost hunting questions. The accommodations were pleasant and a bit dated , but I do realize the hotel was built in the late 1800's and is working on renovations. We had a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The cable was out, not much they could do and we really weren't there to watch TV anyway, but they did give us free breakfast vouchers and it was delicious, I recommend the banana crepes! Thank you Hotel Colorado we had a amazing sister trip! We had a great time we will be back, to stay in one of the suites next maybe we will get some paranormal activity next time!

Check-in was terrible. Someone cut us in line (the setup makes this very easy to do) and it took forever to get our keys. Then, we lugged ALL of our stuff up to the fourth floor, three-year-old in tow, only for our keys to not work. I went all the way back down and waited in line again for the person to tell me they mixed up our room number. We were actually on the third floor. So I went all the way back up to 4, got everybody, and we tried to ride the elevator with our luggage cart down to 3. This process took 20+ min all on its own because the cleaning staff was also using the one and only elevator. This was all after a three-hour car ride to get there. The room was extremely bare minimum with NO WINDOW COVERING except a flimsy and broken set of blinds that did nothing to block out light and had to be halfway up to accommodate the window A/C unit. When you have young children, you NEED to cut out morning light or they wake up at dawn. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful, but everything else was gross and dirty and extremely overpriced. We definitely don't recommend staying here till they get the renovations complete.

Recently, we spent four nights and days at Hotel Colorado, in Glenwood Springs, which we chose because of its historical significance and because it is located within minutes of the Amtrak Station and also the world's largest hot thermal pool, and also because it is locally owned and operated, and not owned by a "chain". Upon arriving at the Amtrak Station, we were grateful to see the Hotel Colorado Shuttle Van waiting for us, especially as it had started to rain. During our stay, all of the staff, from the reception desk, to the bartenders at the beautiful outdoor bar to the housekeeping staff, were gracious and welcoming. As we are interested in history and historical preservation, I had many questions, and the kind women at the front desk, Sydni and Danielle, gave to me a very informative print out of the history of this fine hotel. It was also explained, to what lengths the current owners have gone, to restore this hotel to its original glory, even finding hidden fireplaces and restoring original wooden floors. What a treasure this hotel is! The ambience is wonderful, and we will treasure our memories of staying at this fine hotel, with its welcoming staff.

The hotel needs to spend some money on bringing the structure up to date. My impression was high prices driven by location and reputation not backed by the hotel itself. Both elevators were out when we arrived, and hauling our suitcase up four floors upon arrival was less than desirable. The location is great with a short walk to the hot pools.

WELL, we knew it was a historic hotel when we booked and thought that would be fun. However, we soon realized they may use the historic aspect as an excuse for not keeping the property up. Just a few things: Torn carpet. Peeling faux wood furniture in our room. Once we turned the radiator on, it would not go off so it was a sauna in our room. The suggestion was to open the window, in January. We were also told by Hotel staff the wrong hours for the hot springs pool which was a big deal because, our plans were based around our package that included the passes for the pool. So our evening went a little sideways. Lastly, we had no hot water in our room so we just left the property early without showering. Upon checkout I felt bad with all the complaints. I'm not sure why I felt bad because my expectations weren't very high to begin with knowing how old this hotel is. I was told I would be contacted by the manager, I highly doubt I will ever hear a word. The bar was fun though, great bartender and appetizers! No good enough to sway me to stay here again though.

130 year old hotel with excellent service. The hotel has recently been renovated but you need to appreciate that is still a hundred and thirty years old. Amazing history amazing views and the hot spring pool is located right across the street. As an absolute must. Teddy Roosevelt spend several months here and the hotel was frequently visited by The unsinkable Molly Brown. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the historic value of the hotel.

You’re paying for the location, the food, the service, and the beautiful lobby. It is DEFINITELY an old building, so things like AC and modern plumbing aren’t options. That’s fine. What you’re not paying for are quiet hours that aren’t enforced or respected in an old hotel with no sound insulation, tattered curtains and sheets, and generally run down rooms. If you really want to stay in this historic building, maybe try it out after their renovation, which should be finished this summer.

A Beautiful Historic Hotel! You can spend hours in the lobby alone reading the history and feeling like you are right there in the past. A very relaxed and comfortable lobby sits at the base of a gorgeous grand staircase. The Courtyard is your Gateway to Glenwood Springs which is so conveniently accessible via the Pedestrian Bridge across the street. Overlooking the Hot Spring Pools, you will appreciate an evening adventure to see the colorful lights, steam, and stillness of the pools. The rooms were simple but comfortable. The staff were friendly and courteous. The restaurants were decent and on point for an expectation of Hotel Accompaniments. The only complaint is lacking the convenience of a lobby coffee bar or a guest use microwave. We enjoyed our stay and without hesitation will return again and recommend the Hotel Colorado!

We came from NY for the Jack wedding, we did not know what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised, the hotel has so much character, the team was so pleasant and aimed to please. The rooms were so nostalgic and comfortable . The mountain were breathtaking! had a great time and we will be back!

If you’re wanting to stay in a taste of history with great staff, stay here. Angel at the front desk was ABSOLUTELY amazing. She gave us great recs and took amazing care of us. Angela at the restaurant was also PHENOMENAL for breakfast. So fun. So knowledgeable. Beds were comfortable and the outside area was gorgeous. Be aware you’re staying in older rooms and an older building, so it’s like staying in history, but also that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Historic hotel with lots of stories on display and stuffed critters. Rooms were pretty darn nice. The only downer was that it took 5 minutes of running water in the shower to have it heat up. Not a complaint, mind you, just an observation. We had a great time visiting and enjoyed the restaurant. Everyone on the staff would stop and tell us some awesome history of the hotel. I mean everyone from the maintenance guys to the cleaning staff the the hotel clerks. We also saw the old key desk inside the vault! Soooo glad we stayed the night.

Location is great for everything, especially the adventure park. The swimming pool with a really nice slide and hot tub are great! Parking is plentiful. Staff are nice 👌 👍 Rooms aren't super elegant but very clean and comfortable. The room had a microwave and fridge which was nice. TV worked well with lots of channels to choose from. I would definitely stay here again and probably will. The coffee, juices ,and milk along with pastries, bagels, and cereal made for a nice quick breakfast in the morning.

We love this hotel that carries a tradition of hotel experience dating back to the late 1880's. On this trip, we left a diamond wedding ring and necklace by mistake. Angel, at the front desk, coordinated the recovery through housekeeping. We were so grateful and relieved

We decided to do the Hanging Lake hike and then spend the evening in Glenwood Springs after. We settled on the Hotel Colorado because it's always been an old standby for the family. It did not disappoint. The staff was very accommodating to my sometimes difficult family lol. Angel was terrific. Beautiful bar outside. We actually had brunch there on Sunday morning, and it was very good. This hotel is very historic and if you're looking to spend an evening in an older but accommodating hotel you can't go wrong here.

The front desk associate, Angel, was superb, she was so friendly and gave us local suggestions of what to see and do, her suggestions were our favorite new places to visit! Our waitress, Angela, was fantastic, she served the entire room and kept such a positive attitude! The hotel’s 1800’s nostalgia was epic! Thank you for keeping the hotel as authentic as possible.

Very cool hotel close to everything. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was great at the bar/restaurant. Staff was friendly and attentive, Price was very fair, Parking is in a lot right across the street from the hotel. The only thing we found strange was the lack of a thermostat in our room. Luckily, the window opened, and there was a ceiling fan, so we were able to keep the room cool for sleeping.

Love the ambiance of this historic hotel. They have somewhat recently redone the rooms. They look fantastic while still retaining the historic character we love. We always grab our first cocktail and sit in the courtyard while enjoying the view. We’re able to park the car and walk to hot springs and restaurants. I don’t care for the new parking fee they’re now imposing but what’re you gonna do. The midweek packages with pool passes and breakfast are an amazing deal.

Clearly old time charm and antique type lobby, which wasn't my taste, but with the rooms being recently re-done made up for it. Very small bathrooms, but we accepted that as part of the old-time charm. Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Nice perk that there is a coffee shop in the lobby and the location was IDEAL. It is right across from the Glenwood Springs pool and just a short walk across the bridge in front of the hotel and you are at all the restaurants on the main street.

Every staff member, every meal, and every activity was meticulously planned, leaving me feeling cherished and utterly relaxed. Beautiful historic building just off the river. The decor is preserved in a classic Victorian style with a really lovely outside bar and seating area. Prices are on the higher end but that does make a certain amount of sense given the location and building itself. The rooms were nice though not particularly high end. I understand the whole building preserves the historic feel, but I still prefer to not shower in a narrow bathtub with a shower curtain.

Stayed here while visiting a friend. It's a historically known hotel, so that's cool. I've heard it's haunted, but they do have a Bible! The rooms are very old and the walls are super thin! I could hear my neighbors having a conversation. The housekeepers were friendly and did a wonderful job to keep the room clean. The food was just okay, nothing special. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They have water right by the front desk to help keep you hydrated. They have a walking bridge that will take you downtown. The views are spectacular! I saw my first Bald Eagle right outside the hotel!

We were very happy with our stay at hotel Colorado. In fact, we stayed an extra night because we liked it so much. we were so relaxed and not ready to leave Glenwood Springs. The staff was very friendly and helpful, parking was free, and the hotel itself was beautiful and historic. Our room was big and I believe the bed may have been a California king because it was bigger than our king bed. It was very comfortable, as were the pillows. Food at the restaurant was great and the grounds were peaceful and relaxing. A quick walk over the footbridge to Glenwood Springs which has tons of great dining, shopping, and nice places to walk. The springs are across the street but we went to Iron Mountain which we loved and that was only a few min ride.

Had a great one night stay. Always wanted to stay at this resort hotel built in 1893. Amazing lobby features, furniture and woodwork. Hallways upstairs are amazingly wide. Rooms are remarkably spacious with a "parlor king" having a large sitting room with sofa bed and TV, and then a large bedroom, bath with king bed. We paid $295 which included tax and $10 parking. Walk across the pedestrian bridge into mainstream area with numerous restaurants, shops and museums.

Absolutely glorious location. This hotel is overloaded with historic character. The lobby is gorgeous with dark wood and a fireplace. There is a century old safe behind the front desk and a beautiful courtyard/garden outside, not to mention the famous hot springs. Our room was beautiful and the service and staff are first rate I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I came here on a work trip to teach at a conference. The Hotel is located in the historic Glenwood canyon. Glenwood Springs is known for its Hot Springs however this hotel was built in the westward expansion era. Silver and gold mining was the industry that drew people here and this hotel embodies all of that. Late 1800's early 1900's construction and historical visitors like Presidents and gangsters from the roaring '20s. The staff are amazingly friendly and the amenities abound both within the hotel and immediately within a 5 minute walk. Restaurants, breweries, convenience stores, fast food, hot springs, and downtown shopping...all in a 5-8 minute walk. Being as historic as it is, the rooms still capture the old feel but are updated and clean. Renovations are ongoing and the future look is very nice. Don't hesitate to book and visit.

  • 4/5 Jeff T. 9 months ago on Google
Getting checked in was easy, pet friendly and directly across from the hot springs so a nice walk over to go relax. The only issue was getting room service as no one was answering the phone so we had to call the front desk to order food for the evening. Other than that a great place to stay and enjoy a piece of Colorado history.

Newly remodeled and more beautiful than ever. Pictures are of a double king - 2 king bed rooms sharing a bathroom. Perfect for families! The staff is always so accommodating. Across the street from the pool so it's the best location. Summer nights the bar and restaurant seat outside in the garden. Just a beautiful hotel with a rich history.

Overall a great stay. The room was clean, except the shower had some hair from previous guest on the tub floor. Very cool old building with a lot of charm and friendly staff. Restaurant in the garden is lovely, but the food was just okay. Ashley the bartender was so nice. Bridge walk to small downtown and spring is right across the road and a great little walk. If we ever come through again we would stay here.

My wife and I recently stayed here for a little weekend getaway and this place was awesome. I do wish there was access to the corridor balconies especially since it was just before Christmas. I’ve always heard and read stories about paranormal things going on here but we weren’t lucky enough to get the chance to experience any of it. The Christmas lights were amazing and the whole place was beautifully decorated. Hotel staff were hospitable and pleasant. Such a great piece of history to have the opportunity to visit and explore. There is so much to do nearby as well. Pssst…. hot springs

What a wonderful experience. This hotel is a charming historic building and the staff is so friendly. We loved the hotel so much we spent most of our time here. There are numerous places to sit and relax. My husband and daughter asked the front desk for card games and they lent us a couple to sit and play together. I loved the Grand staircases and huge hallways. You just don't see this kind of architecture anymore. We stayed in a room with a sitting area/ space which was so great for spending time together. This place was so great and I will definitely come back. We loved it.

If you're looking for a cool historic hotel to stay at, this is the place! Love all of the old style lobby areas and the architecture is fantastic. For those looking for a slightly more modern experience, it looks like they're renovating the rooms. Personally, I'm glad I got to stay in one of the older rooms for the experience. Very convenient location, so you can just walk anywhere you need to go, but they also have a shuttle.

Hotel was very helpful and accommodating when our train was late. Very good restaurant though service was very slow. All staff were helpful and accommodating particularly our driver Thomas. He definitely went above and beyond to help us get around. Loved all the history and old fashioned atmosphere. Really enjoyable to just sit in the lobby or out by the fountain. Loved the walking access to the tourist part of town.

This historic hotel is not the place you stay for the cool amenities. There really aren't many. But it is worth staying at for the beauty and overall feeling of staying a few nights in history as it was a military hospital during WWII. Comfortable, relatively clean and the rooms are always an upkeep in progress but not at all challenging to stay in. What must be challenging is keeping a 100+ year hotel up and yet still have it feel like a piece of history. Best location for both the hot springs and to walk to downtown places.

  • 5/5 Alicia A. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful historic hotel. The staff was very friendly, especially the breakfast crew. The hotel was clean and full of historic charm, for example, it took 10 minutes for the hot water to reach our shower. The walls are very thin so we could hear everything in our hall, but we didn't mind. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

  • 5/5 Allen K. 2 years ago on Google
Hotel is older but very quaint. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The dining options in the hotel were very tasty. ( Bonus: Happy Hour with great prices in the bar) Hotel provides free shuttle service which graciously carted us all over town. We will definitely stay here again.
