I ordered the 3 egg Greek omelette with bacon. It was very large and very tasty. The server was excellent with great customer service. This was my first time here. Very cozy and family oriented atmosphere. I will definitely go back again.

Three generations of my family have enjoyed Gabe’s for over 20 years! Gabe set the standard for delicious chicken and waffles. He laughed when I used to order both at the same time, but it was a hit! Now his lovely wife and daughter continue the personal touch with every meal served. The staff is both friendly and focused on getting each guest exactly what they ordered. The food is great and the service is wonderful. Golfers, neighbors, visitors from near and far are greeted with big smiles! Arrive early and be ready to take a box home because the servings are quite generous!

Gabe's Place is a very well-known and respected diner located in Glenwood, Illinois. It's a safe, warm, and welcoming place to gather, chat, and enjoy a phenomenally cooked meal or simple cup of coffee! Regardless of your circumstances, you will be treated with the upmost respect by the hardworking team there! Many things have changed in that region, but this particular diner has stood the test of time by continuing to deliver superior customer service, amazing dishes cooked to entertain every taste by top chef's. It is always worth stopping by - or calling ahead - to order!

My husband and I decided to give Gabe’s a try based on the good reviews. He ordered an omelet and I had a skillet. I must say I was thoroughly disappointed with my meal. My food was extremely dry and my hash brown was burnt. To the point I just had to pick them out due to it making everything taste charred. Unfortunately, I found myself just eating the meal solely because we paid for it.

    1. NO HOSTESS to greet and seat you. 2. Rude inept waiters 3. VERY Poor service. 4. NO parking. 5. NO refills on coffee. 6. VERY EXPENSIVE for the food served. 7. NO manager present. 8. OVERALL run by INEPT IDIOT Hispanic waiters who do not know how yo satisfy nor take care of customers. 9. Owner's are not there and the help has run down the restaurant. 10. CHEAPEST FILTHY CLOUDED WATER CUPS: DISGUSTING.

Reasonably priced with a menu that has something for everyone. Chorizo Benedict was good, a different take on the standard ham benedict. Hollandaise could have been spicier to compliment it though. Home fries were tasty and made to order as I requested. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Decor inside felt like I was eating at my grandparents house, homey and inviting.

Great family style restaurant. You can tell most of the staff has been there for years. The food is good, can't really complain about it. But the atmosphere is top notch. Just an enjoyable place to take the family and friends for a nice breakfast.

Went for breakfast on New Years Day with one family member. Due to it being holiday the restaurant was quiet. I had stuffed French toast and family member had skillet. Reasonably priced. Owner and his family were the waiters. Very happy with the cute xmas decorations. Nice atmosphere. Definitely will return.

Their breakfast was a disappointment. I got biscuits and gravy. The gravy was lukewarm and bland and the biscuit was hard. My husband had the corned beef hash. It was sliced out of a can and barely fried on each side, hence being barely warm. I won’t be back for their breakfast. The Friday night all you can eat fish is good

I haven't been to Gabe's in over 10 years. We were visiting and were pleasantly surprised to see Gabe's was still opened and appeared to be thriving. The outside was very nice and clean with their signature hanging flowers. We went around 10ish on a weekday, it was busy but not overly crowded. The hostess seated us right away and immediately a waitress came by with menus. We ordered a variety of breakfast items to share and everything was great, nothing over the top it's just good standard breakfast. I like that!

I've been here a few times and the breakfast has always been good. The service is great. This last time I went I had a sore throat and couldn't talk much so I wrote my order down before I went inside so I wouldn't be a complete pain! Fron the owner to the waitress who helped me, I believe her name was Elaine, they were both so understanding and patient! Elaine especially was so super patient since I had to write everything down when I realized my original order wouldn't work! Great place, awesome breakfast, amazing service!!!

Very cute family run diner. They were gracious and welcoming even though we got there soon before closing. The food was yummy and generous. I had an excellent patty melt. Also they were selling baked goods by the door and we got a huge brownie that we shared later - it was AMAZING!

Great service and great food. My relative comes here often and they know him hy name and what he orders he usually doesn't even have to tell them. I ordered the country skillet and boy oh boy does their food taste good! Pancakes are quality and the syrup is hot. Their menu is lengthy so take your time looking over your options. Just a really nice family friendly atmosphere.

Great place for great food. Their pricing is better than most restaurants, and their portions are of decent size. They have plenty of room no matter what size of party you may be bringing. Thanks for the awesome dining experience..

Awesome fish fry on Friday night! This is the best perch that we have had in the whole region. Service was excellent and the family style salads were great. We will be regular rerun customers on Fridays.

Friday night fish fry is very popular. It's all you can eat, Whitefish. Perch, Fried Chicken, Shrimp. That is only day they serve dinner. Otherwise, they are open for breakfast and lunch. Family owned.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch after Mid-day Bible study, it was about an hour from their closing time and the food was still served fresh and properly cooked. Our waitress was very friendly and personable.

I’ve been coming to Gabe’s for literally my entire life (and months beforehand while my mom was pregnant with me). It is really one of the best, and most consistent “small town breakfast” type of places. Sure it’s nothing fancy, but the homemade muffins especially and the genuine hospitality of the staff are really a cut above the rest.

One of the few places near by that advertises that they open at 6 am.... and actually opens at 6am. The server was polite and friendly. Our order was accurate and the food was delicious and brought quickly. I would definitely recommend.

Myra was our waitress and we enjoyed her recommendations and warm welcome. It was our first time and we will be back! Foods good. Great space. Parking available across the street. I enjoy the vibes here.

Lordt. This was the worst. I never ever leave reviews. It was my first time at this place. New to the area and thought I give this place a try. I ordered take out of the country skillet. I asked for my hash brown to be well done and as you can see they’re burnt, dry, and not chewable. Well done does not equate to burnt. The sausage I expected to be cut up or diced into the skillet but instead they sliced the entire sausage once and laid it across the burnt hash brown mixture and scorched the cheese on top. It is also burnt and dry. I have never been more dissatisfied with anything in my life. To add. The guy at the front desk was more engaging with the old yt people that were walking out instead of the patron standing in front of him. There was not a thanks or any verbal communication. Makes me feel we aren’t welcomed in the establishment. Update: after posting my initial review, looking at the other reviews and not finding a reply to any of them, I decided to call the establishment. I thought hmmm there aren’t that many bad reviews and so depending on how they handle this I’d consider removing my review. I immediately asked to speak to a manger and Marie promptly picked up the phone. I explained to her what I ordered and what I received. She apologized and said the “next time if I’d like my sausage diced then I could ask for it that way”, she also agreed that “well done does not equate to burnt”. I was happy to hear that as I waiting silently on the phone for her to offer some sort of resolve. Nothing! Finally I asked “well how can we resolve this, do I get my money back or the meal made over?” Maria’s response: “well if you bring it back and once I look at it and if its what you say it is, then yes you’d have a preference. But, we’re closing soon so when are you coming back?” Me: I’ve also posted the pictures online and so you can also see them there. Angry Maria: why would you do that without giving me a chance to fix it? It makes new customers think we aren’t willing to fix the problem. 🤔 Me: I posted my review after noticing there wasn’t a response to any of the other reviews namely the other review that is much like mine. Which is what prompted this phone call. And depending on how the interaction went, I’d then consider removing my review. Maria: Sometimes I respond to reviews privately. Me: No Maria, not responding publicly to a public review, not offering a resolve until the customer asks, and stating that not until you see the food then options are given, makes customers think you aren’t willing to fix the problem. Also Me: Welp, I guess I’m out of $15. 🥴
