We have ordered pickup a number of times from Tonno when staying in Gloucester and decided to try it for dinner on a Monday night. Our reservation was early and the restaurant had a good crowd at the bar and quickly filled by 6 pm. I'd advise a reservation. We opted for indoor seating though they have a nice spacious outdoor covered area. Indoors is bright, understated but anicely decorated: modern vibe with two rooms with exposed brick. Our waitress was excellent: friendly and attentive but not overly so. Small basket of ciabatta and focaccia served with olive oil was very good. Our cocktails were superb. We had ordered their flatbread in a recent pickup order and it was excellent so decided to start with this. In the past, we have had the meatball app, garlic bread and arancini and all were excellent. Salad options are few and the Caesar was just average with romaine leaves served entirely too large to enjoy. I would not reorder. Our entrees were someehat disappointing. It was not that busy so it was surprising that both were overcooked. I'm not sure how chicken parm gets overcooked in a popular Italian restaurant but it was. Great potential and the perfect size but the chicken was dry and not tender. The same with my husband's pork chop entree. Both were disappointing after a great start and our prior experiences here. Any restaurant can have an off night so I'll chalk it up to that. It was just surprising after our prior experiences ordering takeout the prior night. We enjoyed dining inside and our waitress was great but I think in the future, we will stick with apps and some awesome drinks at the bar.

Everything was delicious! My favorite thing was the burrata and beets! My fish was perfectly cooked and the capers elevated my dish.

Visiting area and were craving oysters. Tonno was recommended from the place we were staying at. They have $1 oysters in the afternoon (forgot the times) and some more specials at the bar. Our servers Paulo & Ryan were great. Amazing drinks and delicious food... highly recommend this place!

This is our second visit to Tonno on our yearly visit to Gloucester. Both times we had exceptional food and service. We were particularly impressed that, even though it was extremely busy, we had attentive and quick service. Our waitress Brie was awesome and had great recommendations. I would recommend anyone make a reservation to enjoy a tasty seafood meal!

Nice spot. I really enjoyed the octopus, it was different but very tasty and flavourful. The pasta Bolognese was a big portion but I didn’t like it very much. Service was good

We have been here twice now and both times incredible service with amazing food. We sat at the bar the first time and had a lovely bartender, And then we sat on the covered patio with the heaters outside and had a waitress named Sarah. She was exceptional always be to come back and check on us with drinks and very friendly. Both times we've been here. The food has been amazing. Calamari is so fresh & light! Chicken parm with bolognese, roasted chicken, swordfish, and a porterhouse steak all cooked to perfection and super tasty. A must have is the pistachio martini! From the hostess to the bus kids, everyone is so nice! You just don't get this type of service anymore- one of our new favorite places we will definitely become frequent flyers!!

I was there back in the summer. It was a terrific evening. The food was scrumptious; the service was attentive; the atmosphere was lively. (The reason for 4 on atmosphere is because I found the tables too close to each other.) Would definitely go back whenever in Gloucester!

We went to this restaurant and a waitress spilled the pitcher or cold water in my son’s head while he was eating, he is 8YO and she didn’t apologize, I didn’t see it happen because I was eating and talking to my cousin who was visiting the area. I told her what happened and she apologized offering a paper napkin to him , not to mention my son was crying because of the incident, I don’t believe you can spilled water on someone without realizing it. Then our waitress told me oh your son must be so sensitive ! This comment was so out of line! To make the story short they brought the kids pasta undercooked and unseasoned I sent it back to the kitchen , it was not al dente it was undercooked! Waitress came back I told her what happened and she said she was taking it out of the check , without offering anything else for the kids to eat , it was late kid waited over an hour for it and she didn’t apologize or offered anything else, I spoke up talked to the manager and told her the whole incident, she brought new pasta that was better also gave my son a new shirt! But after all the kids didn’t want to eat anymore, the service was so bad and I payed my bill, they took the pasta out of the check but honestly I think the service was the worse I ever experienced! If that was my restaurant I would have apologize since the water spill should have brought free dessert for the kids instead of offering a paper napkin and told the mother her son was sensitive! Restaurant owner should be aware they work in a service business and we come to feel welcome and taking care of instead of mistreated.

We use to love Tonno’s. We would go regularly. The food and wait staff were wonderful! The past few times it is more of a fast food restaurant. As we put our forks down from eating our salad our dinner arrived. Mine was cold. The waitstaff are not warm and friendly anymore. Tonno what has happened?

Oysters on the half shell were very fresh and they served two nice varieties. Fried calamari was crispy and well-made. Good selection of Italian wines. Attentive service.

Amazing restaurant! The service is incredible! Ezio really made it a great experience, by being so friendly, informative and helpful. I visited during the oyster happy hour --- and the oysters are some of the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend this place --- and if you aren't an oyster fan, the rest of the menu is great as well.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. A little pricey but well worth and you definitely get your money's worth. I had the lobster rigatoni special- generous portion of lobster and the pasta was delicious. I'm not sure if it was house made but it tasted like it was! What I'm always hoping for but can rarely find when going to the North End in Boston. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in Gloucester

I’ve been to Tonno in Gloucester twice now and both times were great. The food is delicious and they have a good wine list with a variety of options and price points. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable (Erica, our server, was amazing!) and it’s always a fun, vibrant atmosphere. Both times I went were unplanned but they were able to get us a table relatively quickly for a busy Saturday night. Definitely worth a visit if you come to the North Shore.

To the manager: if you have 2 customers asking to sit at a larger table at 4pm on a Sunday while restaurant is 85% empty, you have to sit them at a larger table! Also the food is below average. So the overall experience absolutely doesn't worth the $. We drove all the way from Boston and we won't come back again.

Great for a date night! I got the caesar salad with a filet. It was good! But the portions here are small (probably normal for Europe) but I could have had 2 portions of an appetizer myself lol. Overall, the vibe, food, and service was great! Reservation recommended.

Service was outstanding. My swordfish was outstanding my son loved his salmon. My other son loved his tuna. Overall it was awesome. My only suggestion would be perhaps a little more starch would be appreciated. The food was great, but it wasn't cheap. And a few more potatoes would have been filling.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Food service was well paced, not rushed. The menu is seafood forward but also many other Italian dishes. Calamari, gem lettuce salad, then tuna steak with white beans in tomato sauce for husband and cod with leeks and potatoes for me. Our server was very attentive and helpful with food choices. Highly recommend. Will need a reservation.

Decent brunch experience here, although I ordered for a take-out to eat in my car on my long drive home. Staff was hospitable. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. Loved the Hardwood smoked salmon on the house grilled bread. Google recommended this based on my tastes, and it was a good recommendation. Will visit again, if I am in town. Recommended!
