I don't know about the rest of the rooms - we were given two rooms that were at the time of our arrival (two hours before official check-in) far from fully refurbished - several men were still busy painting and sawing and fixing things. So we had to leave again. When we came back at five, the rooms looked nice, but smelled so strongly from paint and other chemicals that we were sure to get a headache if we stayed. The manager at no point had any word of apology, but just said that if we had not arrived early we would not have known and anyway, we had supposedly been unfriendly to her staff - which was not true and besides had nothing to do with the overwhelming smell. We had to look for place where to stay for the two nights we had booked. The manager ignored the fact that this strong smell might harm our health and refused to give us back our money. The hotel might be nice, we don't know, but pray that you have no problems and might need the help of the manager.

This was a great experience! Our plan was to stay here for one night, but we ended up with 3 ๐Ÿ˜. Excellent service, very well maintained and refurbished old building. Good continental breakfast. Beautiful garden with tables. And very affordable. After 3 weeks traveling UK, this was certainly the best hotel we had.

The hotel sits in a central position in the village. We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. Room was beautiful and clean, the shower powerful and hot. We had evening meals including the welsh roast beef dinner which was excellent and the welsh breakfast in the morning was perfect, the sausage and bacon being top quality. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Very dog friendly. Would definitely recommend and stay here again

Room lovely, very modern clean with an excellent shower. However!! Breakfast reasonable for continental but not really good enough for a ยฃ130 a night! Staff and management really are the issue. Booked 10 rooms as my daughter got married nearby. Very poor communication. Often did not reply to emails and phone calls. Not one member of staff congratulated the bride and groom...in the morning simply asked to settle account..very poor and such a shame. Two guests emailed to request in good time gluten free breakfast option. No replies. No gluten free available. My daughter (not the bride) ate nothing! Very disappointing. Think some body needs to take charge who cares. This is a service industry.

I genuinely don't know where to start! This place is a rare find! The rooms are immaculate and so comfy. The best thing about this place (even better than the sticky toffee pudding!!) is the staff. Super friendly, super efficient and they really do care about the guests. It was our first night away with our dog and she was welcomed with open arms, literally. Even before we fully checked in the treat jar was out and she made a best friend in Charlotte! Thank you all for making our last minute get away one to remember and can't wait to be back..... Lyra is going miss the cuddles ๐Ÿบ

Lovely bar and restaurant area. We popped in for food. Husband had sausage and mash, really nice. I had steak and ale pie with chips and greens. Chips, greens and pie filling were lovely but the pastry was almost completely raw, microwaved from frozen? We were going to have desert and more wine but we left.

Super restaurant that never fails to deliver. Excellent, chef-prepared food, served up by a really friendly team. Tonight my mum was made to feel very special on her birthday meal out. Highly recommended.

The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, surrounding area was amazing. Menu was basic and slightly expensive for what it was, nothing wrong with the food just expect a little more for the prices they charge. Was a nice pint of the black stuff. Breakfast was continental only. We really liked the place and would certainly stay again, prices for rooms were very fair and my mates cottage was awesome!

This is a very lovely hotel with extremely friendly staff and they were all very professional. The whole hotel has been recently decorated and refitted to a top quality and modern design. We would definitely stay there again it was great value for money and the food in the evening was amazing. The starters were a meal in themselves. They are very dog friendly but unfortunately charge ยฃ25 a night for the dog. We stayed in one of the suites for one night and it was very comfortable and nicely decorated to a modern standard. There is a childโ€™s play area just over the road which our daughter loved. The bar service was excellent and the beers were lovely. A fabulous place to stay if you want a nice break in a quiet village surrounded in hills and walks.

Cheapest hotel we stayed in on a trip and easily the best. Only downside no hot breakfast but we knew that before we booked. Very friendly. Had a bath and a shower something even the 5 star Lowry couldn't manage on the same trip. Thoroughly recommended

Fabulous location. Rooms have everything you could need. Are spotlessly clean and I stayed 2 nights, room cleaned after first night. Lovely hotel with excellent staff and service. Food is excellent quality, varied, caters for all diets, arrives in a timely manner, well presented and piping hot. Continental breakfast is well stocked and more than ample to set you up for the day. Cannot praise this place enough. Found by accident when searching for dog friendly hotels in the area. Will definitely be back. Bed very comfy and slept really well after a day in the fresh Welsh air and a good quality glass of wine. Bar well stocked. Thank you to the knowledgeable, friendly, professional staff.

We didn't know what to expect but we mainly booked the hotel due to being dog friendly. We were so pleasantly surprised. The rooms are fantastic, clean rooms and fresh. I'd ve happy with that room in a top end 4 stars Hotel. The lady who checked us in was so charming and hospitable. Amazing hotel and great value for money. Highly recommended.

We booked a one night stay purely on the basis of convenient location for our trip and previous good reviews. So glad we did! We received a warm welcome and highly professional service throughout our stay. Our room (separate entrance outside rather than in the main building) was modern, comfortable and spotless. We stayed on a Sunday and both had the Sunday roast - both the meat and veggie options were superb. Somehow we found room for dessert and the syrup sponge & custard did not disappoint. With well-kept real ales at the bar to boot we were very happy! Would definitely recommend.

Really nice hotel and staff to match! Rooms were super clean with amazing views. The food..... Wow! I've had more than my fair share of steaks but that was a perfectly cooked med rare sirloin and the calamari was super fresh with homemade sauces. 100% would stay again!

had no idea what to expect staying here. It's in a small village with a shop and the hotel amid the beautiful countryside of North Wales. The hotel itself is a real find. The rooms are very good with ensuite facilities. There are stairs and they have rooms attached to the hotel which are disabled friendly. There's a bar and restaurant and there's a very good free continental breakfast available in the morning. In the summer there's a space outside for tables for drinks. Prices are really reasonable and WiFi is also available. Recommended. There's a small car park if required

Have put a 3 โญ๏ธfor location as we hadnโ€™t realised that although only 3 miles to Llangollen this was only via a very steep road. We hadnโ€™t noticed this when booking. We tried the local bus but sadly a no show. Great for a hike though but we were only prepared for a walk. Otherwise a fantastic place to stay

We stayed here last minute. Absolutely amazing. The room was a family room, had plenty of space and was absolutely immaculate. Thr staff were very friendly and went above and beyond. The food was amazing. Waking up to the sound of just the river was just the icing on the cake! It was amazing. I'm definitely going to book to go back soon.

We have moved locally so went up for a Sunday dinner, we both had the carvery and sticky toffee pudding. Both was very nice and the staff are very nice and helpful. It looks like it has just had a revamp for its nice and clean inside. Not over priced and good value for money. We will be going back very soon.

We were staying very locally so paid several visits. The hand-pulled local beers were very good. Had the Sunday carvery lunch (Beef) and was excellent with a good plateful of food to enjoy. Had another Steak Night Wednesday which was seemingly good value for money, although we felt that the steaks were not up to the standard of the Sunday Road Beef - and the choice of veg was very limited which was a shame. We also had several choices of sweet not available (which was slow to tell us) - which was a real shame and left us disappointed. But to be fair, the Bar Manager was very fair and quickly offered to reduce the cost. Thank you for that - redeemed with good service. We would go back again for the Sunday carvery still.

Whilst staying nearby, it would have been rude not to have visited! Reasonably good selection of ales available and a nice new beer garden to the rear to enjoy - or if you like watching village life passing by, then sit out front! We didn't eat here so can't comment on food, but staff were very friendly and welcoming!

Just stunning! Thanks you so much to the owners for their amazing hospitality - we were lucky enough to arrive when the summer BBQ, bouncy castle and live music (who doesn't love a welsh singer) was on in the beer garden. Beautiful scenery, stunning walks and activities, very reasonable bar and food prices make this place one not to miss! Enjoy, we sure did and we'll be back soon x

Pros and cons. The pros are good location, friendly staff and a decent accommodation. The cons are if your expecting the usual cooked breakfast you will be disappointed . It,s a self service continental affair. At ยฃ90 a night we felt it came up short. You can have a cooked breakfast at weekends but at an extra tenner . Please check your bill before you leave as on receiving my credit card statement one week later and found an overcharge of ยฃ10. when I asked why they put the phone down on me.

I spent the weekend at Glyn Valley Hotel with some colleagues who I had not met for over a year. The hotel and the owner were very very accommodating and hospitable. The room was pretty decent with all the usual amenities and even a bath! The beer garden was superb and allowed us to enjoy some of the lovely weather. There was some live music and a great bbq which was excellent value for money and far too much for us all to eat. The surrounding areas were also beautiful with so much to explore. Overall, a fantastic experience and will definitely return some time soon, hopefully very soon.

I was told that this hotel was under new management and had had a full transformation. I went with my 12 yr old son & 8 yr old daughter. We were met with such a friendly and bubbly, happy welcome that we knew this would be the sort of place we would like. During our stay, the staff changed shifts but their kindness and helpfulness did not. Everyone we encountered were fantastic. It makes such a difference to your stay. Our room was the suite and it was beautifully decorated with stunning views. (The hotel also has a stream running out the back where the beer garden is.) There was ample room for the three of us. It was all immaculately cleaned and so was the bedding and towels. There were lovely touches in the room including posh coffees and chocolate bars. Even toiletries came in a lovely material draw string bag. We found no faults. Oh, and the window seat was great to sit in and admire the views. Food: I cant really say anything other than delicious. We had an evening meal and breakfast. We also opted for the full Welsh breakfast and pancakes. The food looked stunning. Presentation was spot-on and it certainly delivered with flavour. The pancakes were home made and you could certainly tell, nothing like those multi pack ones!! I would also recommend the hotel for food if you are just passing through that way.....llangollen is only a short drive away. Thank you to all the friendly, helpful staff that made our stay extra special...we will certainly be going there again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ๐Ÿ˜€

Dear all, Just got back from a great stay at this hotel. Popped over for single night with Mrs W. Brilliant value for money, reception warm and inviting. Good beer by the wood fire. Service was spot on, friendly, engaging, timely. Just set up a tab for the room and that was it, sorted. Room really clean, well presented, bed very comfortable, shower bang on. Had tea and breakfast there as well. Again, great. Recommended. Enjoy. Simon W

Beautifully refurbished. High standard. Room was larger than we expected. Clean, comfortable nice touch of the welcome basket. Maybe needs some curtains not just a blind to keep the light out in the early morning. We had evening meal in the restaurant. Amazing high standard of quality food. Staff friendly and polite. Don't be put off my the low prices it's an absolutely high standard little gem.

Lovely staff. Good value room and food. Two adults and two children greatly enjoyed their meals. Room clean and comfortable. Absolutely nothing not to like. Helpful and accommodating of gluten-free guest. What felt like an epic journey in the fading light to get there going up to 1200 ft and back down to 600 on very narrow road was worth it! Continental breakfast never going to be as exciting as a cooked one - but the croissants were really nice and we were all satisfied, happy with overall cost.

The staff so welcoming. They welcomed my German shepherd with open arms. Cause it was a sunday the chef came outside and gave my dog a huge bowl of leftover meat. The rooms were excellent and clean. The food was amazing. Would highly recommend this venue. Thank you to the staff.

Staff friendly and very welcoming, accommodation is clean and modern. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was very nice and good value for money, breakfast the next morning was just as good. The only complaint we would have is that the window in Room 9 didn't open so it did get very warm and it interrupted our sleep, but we can live with that as everything else was great. We would definitely go back ๐Ÿ˜Š

Stayed a night this week. The room was really nice, the decor lovely, comfy bed. The staff were excellent, really helpful and friendly. The food was really good, both the evening meal and the breakfast. Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for a couple of nights. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the bed was comfy and the room was beautiful and clean with a great view. We had dinner in the restaurant. We had some amazing pizza. (We were told that the chef trained in Italy, and it shows in the awesome pizzas!) My girlfriend loved the piano in the reception room. It was a lovely touch. All in all, we loved the stay here, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

Whatโ€™s there to complain about after staying the night. Not a lot! Located in the centre of the village, surrounded by rolling hills, fulfilled with trees, walks, and quietness, just a short drive away from some of the more popular destinations in the area. The staff were welcoming, and very attentive to our requests. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a modern touch. The food was nothing short of what we expected for the price, with the added bonus of an open fire in the bar, crackling away while I washed down a couple of nice kept pints.

  • 5/5 CLW 1 year ago on Google
Really lovely place and I think it's going to be very popular once word gets out. The only slight grumble is that the bed wasn't very comfortable but as there's renovations going on but I am sure that will be addressed at some point. I'd have been very happy to have paid more to have more choice at breakfast as well, even if it was just something simple like crumpets ๐Ÿ˜ We would definitely recommend and will be back.

It was good to visit the Glyn Valley Hotel pub restaurant again after 6 years or so since I last was here. The decor inside and outside has been transformed, toned down neutral colours, new tables and chairs and the bar counters are more geared for busy sessions. There is great seating and tables area outside and a covered timber framed porch with big seating benches was perfect for shade against the hot, scorching weather. The young staff were friendly and welcoming... Will visit again as it's in the very pretty Glyn Ceiriog valley and beautiful scenery all around you makes it ideally located..
