The only positive thing about this place was its great location. I booked this place after reading the good reviews. It's barely a 3-star and the rude staff pushes it down to 1.5 or 2 stars. For example -The hotel website boasts they are 4.5 stars but don't even give you a toothbrush. I spent more than $600 and the staff asked for $2 for the toothpaste. Then offered for free as a big "favour". I am not the only one with a bitter aftertaste. My other colleague had a similar experience. The rude staff dares you to complain if you can. When you book a 4 or 5-star, you have certain expectations. A fully packed public hospital gives you better service than the staff here. Spend your $$$ elsewhere. There are plenty of nice hotels in GC

This is hands down the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. The carpet in the rooms is dirty, their was mould in the fridge which I repeatedly asked them to come and clean - it was never done, in the 5 nights I stayed there our room was only cleaned once after I complained to the manager. We had to ask for fresh towels everyday because they seemed to never replace the towels or do anything even if I left the ‘please clean my room’ sign on the door. There is NO POOL, do not be fooled by the pictures. The staff are useless and unhelpful, if you try to explain your issues to then they couldn’t care less about resolving any problems you’re having. Our bins were full and I asked for them to be replaced, someone came to the door and asked me for the bins then I had to go and get the bin bags and bring it to them, they then proceeded to hand me the bag to replace the bins myself. AT A HOTEL. ON A HOLIDAY. We had 4 rooms on one floor and every single room had the same problems, we had piles of towels sitting in the bathrooms for days because they weren’t cleaning the rooms. This place is NOT deserving of 4 stars, 2 would be generous. It’s actually a disgrace and I strongly recommend against staying here if you’re a family with small children because it is unhygienic. If I didn’t have 8 guests and no where else to book because of peak season I would have left on day 1.

Wouldn't recommend this hotel for a young family or travellers looking for 4.5 star quality. This hotel is absolutely not 4/4.5 star quality. The hotel is falling apart around you. When you walk into the lobby you are treated to a beautiful hit of smokey air. The whole place smells like smoke, if you are sensitive to that (or an ex-smoker) this will probably bother you. Room is damp, carpets are dirty, cabinets chipped, mould in the bathroom, haphazard and low quality repairs to everything. The rubbish on the balcony wasn't even removed from the previous occupants. For a non-smoking room (and hotel?) there was an ashtray on the balcony... The hallways and rooms need a major renovation and deep clean for this place to look anything like the photos displayed on the website. We won't be staying at a Mantra-branded hotel ever again, put it that way.

Stayed for 3 nights. Reception staff were friendly and helpful 😀 our room was serviced daily. Had a great balcony view of the city and the beach just meters away. Didn't get a chance to have buffet breakfast but the hotel is within walking distance of various shops, restaurants, clubs, pubs and public transport. The room had minor damage to cupboards, the bodywash soap was empty and never got refilled, and the shampoo was definitely not enough for 3 people over 3 days but i always travel with my own just in case I would stay again.

Room was very smelly, carpet stained, fridge cabinet mouldy, linen didn't seem clean (hairs on blankets and pillow) cigarette holes in curtains. I'd expected better considering reviews but room needs a good clean and maintenance (paint chips everywhere). Quiet despite close location to centre surfers and good if you want a party room but I wouldn't stay again.

Very disappointing stay for a two day conference. Check in would not accept a digital card for the deposit. I do not carry physical cards with me so had to get a photo of the card I wanted to use. The room was smelly and stale on arrival. I immediately opened the door to the balcony. Stains on the carpet. The cupboard which housed the fridge was disintegrating what looked like wet damage. The beds only had a blanket and sheet, no doona. The bathroom had a loud noisy fan with no apparent off switch which meant to kept running all night even if I took the card out of the reader that powers the lights. I was looking forward to making use of the outdoor spa deck but was disappointed to find the spa’s were lukewarm at best and the buttons to power the bubbles didn’t work. The food was very mediocre. I paid $32 for breakfast but the quality of food on offer was poor. I also had lunch at the hotel as part of the conference on both days the food ran out before everyone was served. Some of the dishes were of poor quality and standard. I won’t be staying here next time I’ll find a better option in the multiple options close by. I’m not one for writing reviews especially negative ones but I really expected better considering the amount spent on the stay.

Definitely not a place I'd recommend. The paint is peeling off the walls sheets and blankets aren't clean they have suspicious stains on it from before check-in. What appears to be mould growing in the bathrooms, and the shower hear isn't properly secured and had to be held to use the shower. And when asked for a full room clean and left a note next to the stain saying (please replace as stain on blankets) just tucked it all back in and moved to the next room. A full clean I would assume was a strip and replace all linen, vacuum and replace all toiletries milk etc. None of which were done. It was cheap and location was good, staff overall seem friendly but that's honestly the only things going for the place.

Pros & cons. We were travelling with a big group. We all had a pretty similar experience at this Mantra. Pros - The buffet breakfast had a lot of variety and seating was inside or outside, with some ocean view. And the bin chickens are always entertaining. - Comfortable beds. - Easy access and lovely staff. - The large conference room has terrific air-conditioning which was perfect for our dance event. Our organisers brought a dance floor with them and lay it on the carpet. Cons - No pool. Their website is accurate, but the Google photos are out of date. - The four spas vary from completely cold to tepid. They are not faulty. This is the temperature they are set to. - The hot water in the bathrooms sometimes took several minutes to arrive. Most people gave up, assuming there was no hot water. I used the opportunity to wash some clothes. The hot water turned up eventually. - The room had a frosted window between the bathroom and the bedroom to help brighten the bathroom. However it meant that if we used the bathroom at night the light would light up the bedroom. - The bath doesn't have anywhere for your head. You can sit in it, but can't lay in it. The view from our 'Ocean view' balcony. Plenty of ocean and also plenty of buildings.

This used to be a good hotel, but not anymore. The rooms are very outdated. My room had a bed with a big slope, so it was impossible to sleep on. Luckily they gave me a new room with a better bed. The hotel used to have it's own big pool and spa, but now it belongs to the Cali beach club (must have sold it), which is a huge pity.

Friendly staff, check in was very easy and quick. Breakfast included was a great bonus and yummy. Room was very clean and tidy. Pillows were probably the nicest I've ever experienced. So much so, I've just looked them up and ordered one for home 😀

Great hotel for the price. Mantra on View is usually on of the cheaper hotels on the Gold Coast without being a hostel or motel. The hotel is a bit older and on the smaller side, but it is perfect for a weekend away. Reception has been really well renovated and presents as a nice hotel. Cali beach below was quite loud, however with the doors shut the noise wasn’t an issue, while we stayed, someone famous was playing at Cali Beach so we had a free concert on the balcony. Will happily stay here again.

Great service, great location, pity about the room. From having to get some foreign object wiped off the bathroom door to no hot water today, it was very reactive rather than proactive service. Cannot fault the staff, as they did get us another room to shower in this morning, but cmon, about time you spent some money on the rooms.

Great staff. Perfect location! Great price! However, room was old. Carpet was disgustingly stained in my room! No hot water at night! Room took forever to unlock every time we tried..it acknowledged our key card but wouldn’t unlock. Honestly was stuck outside the room for a minute or so trying and trying again to unlock the door every single time! But the worst thing of all was when we left the bags there, we put the bags in an open room. No security, anyone could walk in and multiple people did walk into the bag storage room. Did not feel safe leaving our belongings there. When we picked it our bags up (6pm) the room was admittedly locked but in the morning (10.30am) it was not! No pool but 4 really big hot tubs, all cold! And there was no hair conditioner!!!!! Would not recommend Mantra on View!

The hotel is very strategic, only steps away from the tram station and a couple blocks away from the heart of Surfer's Paradise. Facilities are plenty, they offer free parking and luggage storage, swimming pool, gym, game arcade, restaurant and lounge. The room is okay, some furniture already shown its age and may require refurbishment but cleanliness is up to standard.

Had a nice view- that was about the best thing it had to offer. Stained carpets, average rooms- no utilities. Two microwaves on the ground floor does not suffice for an entire hotel. Would not recommend for long stays (not very practical as you are supplied with the bare minimum)

Fantastic views and comfortable bed. Very convenient and walking distance to surfer paradise. There is only limited parking and going in to the hotel is a bit hike since you need to drag your bags in the elevator of the car park that joint to the hotel then with the stairs going to the hotel by using your key card while holding your baggage. So you juggled between your bags, key and heavy door with automatic lock (that's the only fault that I can say ) apart from that Overall experience are amazing, Highly recommend this hotel.

We had an awesome stay. Room was made up lovely everyday and it was a clean room. Staff were polite and helpful. View was amazing. Spas were a little cold. It wasn't noisy on the sea view side at all. We would stay at Mantra on view everytime. 😘

The service we received with reception, they met our expectations every time. When there was an issue, we had dripping coming from above the shower and maintenance they were quick to fix it. The buffet breakfast was very good, lots to choose from. Housekeeping was great. I would recommend staying.

Stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days. The staff/service was great however, the condition of the room wasn’t the best, burnt carpet, dirty/old carpet and the paint job of the room was old. The AC was something out of the 90’s and was not working initially until the maintenance dude had to restart it from the main switch board. The hotel definitely needs some work and it felt more like a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. By far the worst 4 star hotel I’ve been to. If you have the money go elsewhere, you’ll be better off.

The hotel is well situated and close to beach and shopping and food precinct. Car park access to the lobby/reception is a bit of a maze. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The room decor and amenities are a little dated and don’t reflect a 4-star rating, which makes it difficult to understand why the hotel takes a $200 security deposit at check-in for incidentals or damage. I would only recommend this hotel if you are able to get a reasonable room rate at off peak period.

It isn't an apartment. It's a Hotel. I had an apartment expectation. If I had a hotel expectation, it would have been better. Great spot. Great scenery. Walking distance to everything. Clean and comfortable- if you like your bed and pillows medium to soft. The staff were fantastic. Thoroughly recommend the Day Spa level 4 for a treat. I left feeling pampered.

Super lovely location and hotel, close to tram, market, beach, and theme parks! They cleaned our rooms every night which was so nice to come back to. Also great view from the balcony, even though we got a city view we could still see the beach!

Came here for work - stunning views! Clean and tidy room. First time I've been to a hotel that doesn't offer slippers however so that was interesting. Haven't travelled too much since COVID but perhaps I should prepare slippers from now on. Otherwise fantastic location and service! Decent amount of vegan options in their breakfast buffet, not too bad if you don't feel like going too far out early in the morning yet Gym is a bit small but decent enough for a quick workout - shame the pool is no longer apart of Mantra! It looks wonderful from my room view

I write this review to express the gratitude we have for staff member, Athena. We rented a private room and an issue arose. We spoke with Athena, understanding she would likely not be able to help, and she did everything in her power to help us. We sincerely appreciate Athena’s time, understanding and kindness. With her assistance, we were able to resolve the issue, which was of great relief to us and it will mean our stay is a comfortable one. Our many thanks go to Athena. Your customer service is unmatched.

They don't answer the phones, I've given them over a month to send me a tax invoice from my stay and they haven't despite multiple requests. Never returned my bond but claimed they did. $200 stolen from me and no one has bothered to follow it up or have it returned. I was a long time loyal client of the Mantra but I will never stay here again through fear of having more money stolen. Also the rooms are right above a very busy nightclub that plays until 2am. Don't stay here for business.

We spent 2 days in this hotel. The room’s cleanness, breakfast and location was really good! BUT!!!! The hotel management is awful! Fist of all, when I booked my room, called the hotel just to check if everything was all right, but they were not able to find my booking.. they told me that “madam, sorry, I can’t find your booking so there’s nothing else I could do..” and hang up. After this, I sent 2 mails to check again and it took them 2 days to realise that the booking was saved on my middle name… 2. I tried to call they several times about the check in time and parking info but they were totally unavailable. No one answered the phone, never. Not in the morning or afternoon. This is unacceptable in a 4* hotel. 3. When we arrived they had a problem finding the booking again. I had to show them the mail what they sent to me about confirming the booking…. 4. They charged us 5$ for toothbrush…however this should be a basic equipment in a 4* room All in all the location and room was good but this service is so low and unprofessional that makes you think twice if you need this extra stress before your holiday….

View was alright. Room not too bad. Exhaust fan in bathroom going constantly was quite annoying. Shower went cold a bit and has a poor design that allows water to go everywhere. On our last day we watched 5 people walk into the breakfast buffet without paying. Three staff members at the desk and no one monitoring. Quite irritating since its $32 per person for a subpar breakfast. No coffee machine, just urns, and food was somewhat cold.

Everything was great, but after checking out, I was surprised to receive an email stating that $50 would be deducted from the deposit due to the room not being clean. The real problem is that I was not informed from the beginning that the security deposit would be deducted if I left the room unclean. In addition, during my stay, the fire alarm was activated at 10 pm without any reason, which caused my children to wake up from sleep and cause them to panic and cry. Instead of the guest being appeased for this mistake, on the contrary, an amount of $50 was deducted for leaving the room unclean. This is my last experience with this hotel; Because it is clear that the goal is to collect money and not to satisfy the guest.

Not happy at all we called before booking to see if we can get in the room earlier than 2pm and late check out due to our flight times and didn’t receive either when we got here. The bed had a spring sticking out on my side of the bed and the soap for the shower was empty but was filled up when asked, the moisturiser wasn’t filled up once when when we were their either. The spas didn’t completely work either one was broken, 1 was really cold and the other 2 that were warm not all the jets were working. Really disappointed with the hotel.

Great location in Surfers with a view of the ocean and the busy streets below. Customer service was excellent at check-in and very helpful with parking which was a bit challenging and confusing at first. Short walk to Surfers for the night markets and to get something to eat. The room was well appointed with coffee and teas. The bed was comfortable with fresh linen, although there was no duvet or quilt (just a sheet and no extra blanket or anything in the room) so I felt cold at night. My favorite thing was the balcony which I thoroughly enjoyed - having a coffee while sitting out there and taking in the views. I actually did some reading late into the night with the sound of the waves crashing in not too far away. The bathroom left a lot to be desired if I can be completely honest. The tub was a bit dirty, and there were stains in both the tub and the sink. The bathroom floor tiles were cracked and chipped and dirt building up in the cracks. The bathroom sink also had a huge chip in it so general maintenance needs to be done in the bathroom. There was no hot water. Open the hot water faucet and either get freezing or lukewarm water. Not even warm - just tepid. Not enough towels supplied either. There's a pool and some hot tubs - but couldn't use them because some young kids were hogging them all. A nice to have in any case. Apart from the bathroom issue, I had a lovely stay and would visit again for the views.

I stayed here for the Pacific Airshow 2023 in August. The whole place was decked out in airshow themes, there was even a Pitts Special biplane in the lobby. Good location. Beach view if you crane your neck. You really need to be careful about which side of the building your room is on, though, because there’s a rooftop night club with live bands playing ‘til the early hours directly under the balconies on the southern side. There’s a breakfast buffet, but it’s almost certainly cheaper to walk a couple of hundred metres down the street, where there are plenty of cafes who’ll sell you an omelette or bacon and eggs.

  • 3/5 Michael 7 months ago on Google
The TV didn't have access to Ch.7 and 7Mate. A hotel of this standard should have all free-to-air channels at a bare minimum. Other than that, the room was nice and the view from the balcony was great. However, there was a noisy fan in the bathroom and it seemed impossible to turn off.

Stunning views, lovely helpful staff, good parking, clean and tidy with good furniture. Rooms are spacious. Beds comfy. Firm pillows are excellent. Bathroom is a good design. Only issue might be suggesting more seating to the right of the entrance as there is some on the left.

Ideal location, close to everything and close to tram & bus stop. Parked our car for the week and enjoyed the Gold Coast. The lift from the carpark was broken which made the initial trip annoying with a baby and luggage we couldn't get down the stairs and had to walk down the car ramp. Other than that, no complaints. Had an enjoyable stay and it was great value for money. Paid for city view but could still see the ocean.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights for a local convention. The hotel was decently clean (minus the dead roaches we occasionally saw), but the room was tired and smelled musty when we walked in. The biggest complaint I have is the the absolute 0 noise canceling. You can hear EVERYTHING and anything going on outside or on all sides of you. As I'm typing this at 3:30am, some other guest is having a party directly above us on their deck and we can hear EVERYTHING. It's been like this the entire weekend with noise from the street to other guests staying here. You can hear people talking from the parking lot across the street. I don't think I'll stay here again. It's dingy, musty and the noise that you can hear from inside your room is unbelievable. The biggest plus of this hotel is location, but that's about it.

Mantra on View Surfers Paradise is located in close proximity to the beach, which is a short stroll down the road and shops are close. Rooms are clean but need a touch up of paint. The decor in our friends room was quite outdated and definitely needed a revamp. Our friends needed to change rooms as there is a beach club (Cali Beach) right next door to the hotel which was very noisy. We didn't have any issues. Staff were very helpful and accommodating when our flight was cancelled. Would stay here again because of the price and location.

Everything about this place is great. Large pool right next to the ocean, rooms are tidy, big bathroom and balcony. Extremely cheap especially because I got three person room. I was expecting something much less for the price but it was amazing 🤩🤗 LOVE the location, near shops beautiful view of ocean and city😊Definitely Recommend 🙌

  • 3/5 Billy C. 2 years ago on Google
If your room looks out to the south side, the music from Cali beach travels straight up and will penetrate the glass doors for many hours of the weekend. The rooms are a bit old and the doors to the balcony don't block off much noise at all unlike other hotels. Card access into my room stopped working a day early for some reason so I had to regain access. The staff were friendly and service was good, The hotel is close to the beach and shops/restaurants.

Updated review from last visit (from a 4 to a 2). The standards of the rooms has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY as has the services offered. No longer a pool area, towels like sandpaper and smell like massage oil, mould in the bathrooms and tap fittings falling apart. Feels like they’re running the place down in preparation to knock down the building. Gets a 2 star for closeness to the beach and ocean views from some rooms

Staff was amazing and so friendly, but the hotel wasn’t up to expectations… first of all I had a couple of clothing items that had been taken (I’m guessing they got taken with the linens) I had called reception and told them and they said they will look into it but I did not get a follow up after that. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as I hoped as there was rust around parts of the bath tub and shower. Other than that the cold spas were very nice and the bed were very comfy.

We had great weekend event. The location is the best so close to everything; beach , bars , tram…room was basic though but breakfast value and area just great! The morning staff are all great specially Lola the host she was so welcoming and friendly. We would go back again

Unfortunately the hotel is located right next to an open air pool nightclub that pumps music on Fri, Sat & Sun until 1am - not great when trying to get my 14 month old to sleep as well as have a relaxing sleep while on holiday. Lots of road noise too. Seemed like a bit of a party hotel although not advertised as such on their website. Couldn’t move rooms to the other side of the hotel as they were fully booked. The buffet breakfast was nice enough but the rooms & furnishings are old don’t seem super clean and housekeeping only provides one face towel and one hand towel for 2 adults and a child. Definitely wouldn’t choose to stay again.

Excellent hotel with a actual king size bed not two singles pushed together. At most hotels the bed sheets and pillows are so loud and noisy when you move but the ones here are comfortable and silent. Been here when it was outriggers and it has improved so much

We booked a room for three adults during Easter holiday in February, but unfortunately the hotel provided a room with just king size bed for 2 person and there is no enough space in the room for 3rd person, we asked for changing the room, hotel managers declined due to fully booked. and we had to figure out the other place for our son! at the end we asked for compensation and refund for 3rd person, but they did not accept that. We paid for 3 adults accommodation, but received the service just for two!! What I can say they ruined our holiday. Never will back to that Hotel and will not recommend it!!

Great hotel. Whilst there was a wait to check in, the agent was warm and friendly. The hotel is in a great location for anyone who wants to be central in the surfers paradise location. My room was clean on arrival. Was provided with the information required on my stay. A shame that the restaurant/ bar wasn't open during my stay, but I was very happy with my stay. Just note, check in can get busy, so can the lobby and lifts, but I'm assuming the hotel is running on reduced team member capacity. Please be kind to them, they are truly doing their best! I will defiantly be back

Just about to check out from the Mantra after staying for 3 nights on a work trip. Overall I’m pretty happy with the place and would highly recommend it for anyone staying on the Gold Coast. The biggest highlight is definitely the breakfast. For just $30 an all you can eat Buffett with everything you could possibly want is like a dream come true. It was all cooked to perfection as well, I have to say 5 stars to the chef and restaurant staff because they were amazing. The location is terrific too, right in the heart of surfers paradise, great views of the ocean from my balcony, really close and central to all the shops, hotels, public transport. I wasn’t too pleased though to find out each day hotel staff were coming into my room to clean towels etc when I wasn’t there. I understand that they are probably just trying to be helpful but given I’ve had a lot of valuable possessions in my room it doesn’t make me feel that safe. My laptop and clothes were even moved into different positions from where I had left them. Honestly I’d feel far safer having my room cleaned when I’ve actually left then when I’ve got my possessions still in the room. The room it’s self is a bit dated as well, a few cracks in the wall especially where the closet is. Does have a real 1980s feel about it. Overall though I was very happy with my stay!

Stayed for the weekend, location was amazing however, at the minimum of staying in hotel I would expect free parking and wifi however I have to pay for those things uninformed before hand. Parking is $15 per day. Asking for a $200 bond straight away without clear information of what time period that would be “unfrozen”. You are told about a breakfast buffet however if you room did not include this, it’s $33 each. The lady at the front desk was flustered but overall lovely. Other then that I didn’t see or have anyone speak to me that actually works at the hotel (not a complaint just an observation) my overall stay was nice but the getting out the car after 2hours of traffic and being expected to pay $230 without warning was not enjoyable probably won’t stay here again.
