Having
read
all
the
raves
about
this
fish
bar
on
the
seafront
of
Great
Yarmouth,
and
being
a
huge
fan
of
fish
&
chips
when
done
well
myself,
I
needed
to
visit
the
place
...
and
was
disappointed.
Granted,
the
cod
itself
was
excellent,
if
not
as
huge
as
I
expected
given
I
had
ordered
the
large
cod
&
chips.
The
cod
was
firm
and
flaky,
the
crust
crunchy
and
delicious.
However,
the
chips
were
flabby
and
undercooked,
as
they
are
at
oh
so
many
British
fish
&
chips
outlets,
and
the
baked
beans
of
the
standard
Heinz
pre-made
variety.
Also,
there
was
no
tartar
sauce
that
came
with
the
dish,
which
mystifies
me
as
it
is
an
essential
part
of
fish
&
chips
(You
can
order
them
with
curry
sauce,
which
I
don't
think
is
very
suitable).
The
price
is
also
at
the
upper
end
of
the
spectrum,
only
partially
redeemed
by
the
better
than
average
seating
inside.
Drinks
are
expensive,
too
-
and
there's
not
much
variety,
which
is
sadly
normal.
Service
was
efficient
and
quick,
but
not
terribly
friendly.
Summing
up,
I
find
the
popularity
of
Fish
&
Grill
to
be
mystifying,
considering
the
many
alternative
options.
The
fish
&
chips
at
The
Pub
on
the
Prom,
which
is
closer
to
the
Britannia
Pier,
were
much
better.
