There was a man in black pants with a $2 baseball cap "Security". He told us that it was Sunday and that we could park here for free. But we had to get a voucher, just around the corner at an ATM! At that moment a car with four black people drove beside us! He told them the same thing! We should just follow them and then get a ticket. The car drove slowly in front of us and turned into a side street! I stepped on the gas and went straight ahead and never came back! That was close! I don't want to know what would have happened to us if we had followed that car! Watch out, don't trust anyone! Remember, you are in a developing country with a high crime rate! Trust your gut. An amazing experience having the privilege of climbing up to the top of this lighthouse. Views of the city are breathtaking. Climb up and down is a bit nervy as it is a narrow vertical staircase on multi levels but well worth it. Sadly the great SA flag was not on when we visited. Also a mention for the individuals that keep the area and park clean, not a piece of litter was found.

Great lookout over a wide area of Port Elizabeth

The view from the top is worth the climbing, there is just so much to view from the seaside docks then inland, I enjoyed every minute.

Great place to visit when in Port Elizabeth. The view is stunning. A great bit of history that you will appreciate which is portrayed through art.

It's quite a narrow journey going up but totally worth it once you get to the top and view Gqberha from that point. The place is also packed with mosaics and sculptures that are accompanied by some historical facts.

Stunning views of the bay. Going up the lighthouse is definitely an experience worth trying. Memorable!
