Unfortunately, the place is not well maintained with weeds dominating most if the flower beds, graffiti on the walls on the east side of the park, and dog poop on most of the paths. The city should reach out to community organizations (perhaps appealing to the 80,000 university students, staff, and faculty) and ask then to "adopt" portions of the park and maintain them.

I really liked this park - alot better than many of the parks we have back in the UK! I did have quite a scare though when i sat down on one of the benches next to the fountains, looked up and saw a beehive above my head nesting in the top of one of the lamp posts! Fortunately we didnt bother each other however i would advise anyone going to this park to check the very top of the lamp posts before sitting near the fountains as i get the impression that they didnt like to be disturbed!

The trees and plants are lovely to look at and the lawns are somewhat manicured however the main walkways aren't paved so they turn into veritable mud tracks at the slightest rain, of the 4 or 5 gates rarely can 2 of them be found opened, the drinking fountains often don't work nor are they adapted for people with disabilities nor dogs, the children's area is outdated and lacks variation while the dog area is ill-equipped and embarrassingly small and rundown. My only reason for only four stars is simply that there were no bathrooms. When you have kids playing that far into a park a bathroom emergency is tough. It takes four or five minutes to walk out of the park to find something. But, there is a chance I missed a bathroom somewhere in there. I didn't have the luxury of looking around.
