Beautiful views and fascinating history, as in most places in Alhambra. We enjoyed an evening visit, with less people (no wait to get up to the tower), and no problem getting photos without throngs of tourists - even on the national day. Highly recommend the Alcazaba for its stunning views.

Alcazaba is another part of Alhambra, also very beautiful. The views were so great and you don't want to leave. You see the whole Granada from the top and also Sierra Nevada mountain. A lot of stairs, but it is worth it and unforgettable.

This is the oldest part of the Alhambra and is the site of the original military fortress. It is not the easiest place to walk around if you’re unsteady on your feet. But it is worth it for the beautiful views of Granada and the rest of the Alhambra. The walls of the fortress are very thick and there are walls within walls making it impregnable. Within the centre courtyard are the remains of the dwellings that the soldiers would have used. There are several tall towers to climb that give different vantage points.

An alcazaba (Spanish: [alkaˈθaβa], Galician: [alkaˈθaβɐ]), alcáçova (Portuguese: [ɐlˈkasuvɐ]) or alcassaba (Catalan: [əlkəˈsaβə]) is a Moorish fortification in Spain and Portugal. The word derives from the Arabic word al-qaṣabah (القَصَبَة), a walled fortification in a city. The term alcazaba should not be confused with alcázar (Spanish) and alcácer (Portuguese), which have their etymology in the Arabic al-qasr, which in turn derives from the Latin castrum, and denotes a fort or castle.

One of the best view point for photographers. Historical fortress.. You will see the whole Granada from the tower plus the mighty lines of the Sierra Nevada. You can use the same ticket as in AlHambra.

The Alcazaba is a huge, magnificent fortress and part of the Alhambra complex. Not only is it impressive in itself, it offers great views over Granada. Bring I.D. with you as they ask to photograph it, I suspect in case of COVID track & trace necessity.

The Alcazaba is a stunning ancient fortress part of the Alhambra complex. Originally it was a military fortress, and is set overlooking the rest of area. It has stunning views of Granada and the other parts of Alhambra. It is a little difficult to walk around, especially on ht days, so bring lots of water and wear comfortable shoes. In the centre courtyard you will find the remains of the soldiers quarters. the fortress has very thick double walls, and several tall towers to give great vantage views.

The perfectly preserved structure and the entire complex create a monumental building that can be admired from a distance and directly by walking around it. The Sierra Nevada Mountains and the city of Granada create a truly fantastic panorama!

Great views and lovely walk along the castle walls. Not a lot of descriptions about the place unless you have an audio guide but worth it to climb the stairs up the towers.

Included in general admision, they will scan your passports and check your bags upon entry. Beautiful views from the towers

IMPORTANT: There are quite a few checks for passport and your ticket in this area. Make sure to bring these with you or else they’ll deny you entrance. Would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. If you’re a history buff then you will enjoy this experience more than people that have no idea what’s going on. The audio guides make it very helpful and you learn quite a bit on your journey through the fortress. It took my family about an hour and a bit to see everything in Alcazaba. Bringing a water bottle is highly recommended and going earlier in the days is also advised, so you can avoid the large amount of rush that flows in around noon.

A building of protection. You will have a great view of Albayzin. It is also a must visit site if you are in Alhambra palace. Don’t miss this when visiting.

The Alcazaba has the best views of the Granada. From the watch tower on the far end you can see all of the city below. It also has some of the military living spaces.

Everything has been said and written on this site, so just take a look at the pictures. HOWEVER! Pay attention to this You must bring your ORIGINAL PASSPORT with you to be allowed to enter the site, and NOT ONLY at the main entrance but all along the different parts of Alhambra. We've been asked 5 or 6 times to show it. We didn't have it with us as we are EU citizens, but then you have to explain that otherwise you'll be denied the entrance. And of course, buy your tickets online as soon as you decide to visit it, and be sure of the time since...NO refund in any case of cancellation (yes, we had to reschedule and lost the tickets).

The Alcazaba is the icing on your visitation cake to the Alhambra. Your complete ticket covers this visit but you'll need to go through a separate line. Going here later in the day is ideal because most people will be arriving to visit the Palace while you're now ready for this shorter line. The best views of Granada can be found on the top of the highest tower which does require a significant stair climb of ~60 steps and is no wheelchair accessible.

You should plan at least 30-40min to come here for the view prior to the Nasrid palace visit. Pretty nice view of Granada city.

66 (52 from entrance) steps of climbing to a beautiful view of the city. Sun can get strong even in fall at midday

Included in the general admission, this tower delivers the best panoramic views of all of Granada. Be prepared to walk and use very steep stairs to enjoy this gem!

what a cool place to enjoy and taking picture. The place is uphill, so you can see the city around and it is so beautiful. If you have a baby, you cannot bring a stroller here. You have to leave it at the entrance. The place is quite big and nice.

If you are out of time this is the part you can skip to see. The tower gives you a fantastic over the city of Granada. And that’s about it

  • 5/5 Viktor L. 5 years ago on Google
Must see. If you're visiting La Alhambra, don't forget to take 15-30 min for the fortress. You will enjoy the best views on Granada the complex has to offer. Given that the is no defined time to visit the fortress, in comparison to Nasrid Palace, you may check it out when deemed suitable.
