This is not a five-star hotel, it is ranked as a two-star hotel. I gave five stars in every category because it exceeded expectations by a long shot. The room was super clean and large, it had all the amenities of a fancier hotel, the beds were comfy and the linens were good. there was a safe, refrigerator, great shower and separate sink area. they had a coffee maker and a nice heating and cooling system. The service that we requested from the hotel was quick and professional, the hotel people were friendly and courteous. The help desk for activities was absolutely excellent, and even the cafeteria exceeded my limited expectations. The best thing about Maswick lodge though was the location. Just far enough away from the crowds near the rim, but just close enough to enjoy a beautiful walk several times a day (and evening) to the village. We got home one night to find a large elk guarding our stairs. I could sleep with the windows open and enjoy the fresh air plus step outside for a star show second to none. I really loved this place. Relatively inexpensive but a great value.

The front desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice. Definitely remodeled. They did a great job on the remodel and not just a paint job. Our room has a balcony which was nice to enjoy a morning coffee or late night beverage. It is close enough to walk to Bright Angel and El Tovar. The blue bus stops right in front and was very handy to get around the village.

We enjoyed the stayed. They were very accommodating; They gave us a cot for our son to sleep on. The room was ample and very up-to-date styling and modern wireless keycards. We would go there again. The food court is the most convenient thing at the lodge. It’s moderately priced compared to other places up in the Grand Canyon. Our favorite was the tamales. *Mind you the place is still under construction and it is in its final phase.

I only marked service down to a 4 because only one person was willing to go above and beyond. He was amazing. All others seemed more focused on each other than on helping us. The location is excellent! It is a 10-minute walk to the rim, and it has a trail the whole way. The rooms were nice and very clean.

All about location. Expect no cleanliness or service. Bathrooms were smelly and not clean. Roll away beds had cobwebs and live spiders. By the time replacement was provided, after 4 calls to the front desk it was well past the sleep time. The cafe is horrible - soups, entrees everything bad. The rooms do not match the website pics - they claim the pics are of south side rooms which are only slightly higher in fare. I did not see those and thus do not believe them. Come here just to save the drive and come with zero expectations - get your own bedroll to be hygenic. Best time of the stay for us was when we were about to leave the room. It was a family trip for us with kid and old people - review might differ for solo travellers. But for us it was the highest paid and least serviced/clean stay during the week long trip.

The hotel is new, which means it’s really modern. The beds are very comfy, the A/C works perfectly and the wifi is good. There is a mini fridge and a TV. The bathroom is clean and the shower is really good. Overall, this hotel is definitely worth it if you want to visit the Grand Canyon.

Great location at the Grand Canyon, but don’t expect perfection. We enjoyed the stay overall and took the train in from the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. They provided the transfer of our luggage to the room and it was convenient. The rooms were comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Rooms are in a building ‘pod’ and walking to them is easy. Parking is available as well if you choose to drive. The food is overpriced honestly, for what you’re getting at the lodge, but take the shuttle and go to some other restaurants and you’ll really enjoy better food and selections. The pizza pub on site though was notably better in food and service. Service was standard at the front desk, but they’re not going to win a personality contest. Not rude, but seemed apathetic towards the job. We went when it was buried in snow, so I’m not sure if this is ops-normal for them, but the clearing of the parking spaces and sidewalks could use some work. Operations management needs to evaluate that situation. Overall not bad, I’d still stay here again.

Check in was quick and easy — maybe because we arrived at 02:00. The lady at the front desk appeared just as confused and clueless as us but she was pleasant. Our room was neat and tidy and we were provided by things we needed for our one night stay. Their cafeteria quickly ran out of food but still charged for the same price. I think they should have an idea of how many guests they have and plan their menu accordingly. Overall, I would def re-book here when I visit the Grand Canyon again!

We were a large party with several rooms. All of the rooms smelled bad and made you wake up with a stuffy nose. One room in our party the toilet would not flush and the shower would not drain. Maintenance was called and came while we were hiking and when we came back they were locked out of the room. When they got back in someone tried to use the restroom and the toilet overflowed into the floor. The pipes under the sink in my room was not attached and when I tried to wash my hands all of the water poured out onto my feet. The door for my room was very difficult to open and I was not strong enough to open it I had to have my husband open the door for me. We went to watch the sunrise the next morning and when we came back our key for our room would not work and we had to walk up to the front desk to get a new one. The restaurant inside the hotel is not worth the money. I got the country fried steak for breakfast and it was so hard I could not cut with my knife.

Lodge style rooms, all doors are outside. It is obvious that it's very old but was semi updated to include amenities that weren't originally built in making some things a little awkward (refrigerator in the bathroom, etc). Definitely not ADA friendly as pathways are rough but it's kid friendly and like going to camp. All in all my kids had a great time and felt like they were really a part of the Grand Canyon. The Lodge itself doesn't have a lot of amenities and eating here was difficult. They only serve a few hot dishes cafeteria style. They were out of everything we tried to order one evening. Staff wasn't very friendly or helpful and we felt like we were a nuisance by being there. Overall we had a decent experience because of the location. We didn't have terribly high expectations so we were pleasantly surprised that it was clean and had all the essentials.

This place is fantastic and the 30% off for three nights that they offered was a STEAL. Rooms are pretty nice especially for National Park lodging which is always simpler than hotels you might get in cities. Location is a little farther away than the hotels right on the rim but honestly we were SO close to everything the couple extra minutes it took to get there was nothing especially for the price (the hotels right on the rim are much more expensive). There are no lights on the path to the different buildings, but the park has Dark Sky status so it's what you ought to expect there. If our eyes weren't adjusted we just used the flashlights on our phone and were fine. Absolutely worth it, the on-site gift shop was great, and the food court was so convenient!

The Lodge is very comfortable. I would recommend a stay. The food court does have it's limitations. So here are my complaints: The breakfast veggie Burrito has eggs and cheese. They were out of the Country Fried Steak, Bacon, Biscuits during the breakfast hour. Here are my compliments: Very kind staff. Attentive to guests. In short, I do hope to return, but I won't eat at the food court.

Excellent location. Food is limited as it is inside the village but very close to shuttles. Go off-season when you can drive into every shuttle stop. If you can walk stairs, be sure to stay above or on top floor. Can be very noisy if upstairs people are walking around. Very early risers at the canyon.

The train ride to the Grand Canyon was a slow and beautiful trip. Our hostess Tara on the train ride was absolutely wonderful. The Maswik room and area was very quiet. The room was within walking distance to the Grand Canyon. I would recommend staying here if you plan on visiting the Grand Canyon. All of the shops were very quaint with alot of souvenirs for you to choose from. I would recommend to everyone to make your reservation and stay at least one night!

The main lodging area if you’re visiting the grand canyon. The main registration area with a food court and visitor center is nice. Also a great place to catch the blue shuttle to the Rim and multiple stops to view points and vistas. The rooms themselves are basic and in need of an modern update. Low showers, hanky toilets, old beds, small TV.

The south lodges are newly renovated. Comfortable beds, nice balconies. (Seats need a cushion) if taking a sunset or sunrise tour pickup is in front of the lodge so that is really convenient. A bus stop in front of the lodge takes you around the park.

Very clean rooms with a good proximity to the Rim trail, shuttle and other lodges. The buildings are not close enough to the Canyon to be able to see anything but for the very reasonable price this is a very good deal overall. One of the great positives was that the area is very quiet and comfortable. The buildings were built between 1970s and the early eighties so a bit dated but honestly it was a great relief to be here after a week in Las Vegas. I would definitely come back in the future and highly recommend this lodging to anyone.

One of the best lodges within the Grand Canyon National park. A central place to cover various viewpoints on the South Rim. In-house cafe food is delicious. Family friendly.

We will never stay at Maswik Lodge again. The room was overpriced, absolutely disgusting and smelled horrible! The food court is way overpriced and the food was nasty. The location itself was quiet and nice but not enough to justify spending $350+ a night for lodging. They also allow dogs in the food court and dining area and they were not service dogs! Never ever again!!

Great resting spot for the family during our visit to Grand Canyon. Room was a little snug for family of 5 but we made it work. Conveniently located on the bus line for easy access to the entire Grand Canyon village and park. Food at the cafeteria was okay (was bummed that the pizza place was closed) but there are plenty of other options within the park.

Give yourself time to find parking and your room. Once you’re settled in, it’s a great place to stay! Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. You’re close to the buses and food court which is convenient. Would stay again!

Great experience and the price was not too expensive for the winter months. The area is decently lit, enough to walk around and see where you are going. I went during Winter so there was snow around but everything seemed well enough maintained for being at the grand canyon. The cafeteria was a little on the pricy side and the front desk receptionist sent us on a closed road we ultimately turned around at and just hit the normal winter visiting areas. Overall great experience though, I would just grab food at the town before entering the park. Rooms where clean and nice no complaints there for the price.

Really enjoyed scenic Grand Canyon. The shuttle system in the park was a great way to travel. Booked a train trip into the park from Williams and upon getting to Maswik, we were given rooms in the older units with a view of the train tracks. Very basic rooms, but clean. No microwave which was a problem as we came in winter and our room was a bit of a cold hike to get food and drink. Basic motel food but limited options and consistently ran out of food. Would have liked an option for other hotels in area but when booking online there didn’t seem to be any option other than Maswik.

Hotel looks brand new. EV chargers available. Stove top, full size fridge and utensils for 4 ppl. Heater works great. Comfortable beds and spotless bathroom. No laundry facility available, only at Mather campground. This hotel is in a quiet area of the park. We slept well all 3 nights.

This is not a single lodge but a complex of perhaps a dozen units spread over quite a bit of property. Your experience will depend on which unit you're in. Our room was very basic (think budget motel) but very clean and quiet. The pros: Fabulous location! We were in one of the northernmost units, which were just a short walk from the Grand Canyon rim, and there was plenty of parking right outside our unit. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go; we didn't use our car during our stay. The newer, southern units would have a significantly longer walk...or you'd need to take the shuttle bus. The cons: It was a long walk to get to any food/meals from our unit, even the Maswik Food Court. I wouldn't want to do that walk with hungry, cranky kids. And the property is largely unlit--if it's spring or fall, plan to use your phone's flashlight to get back to your room after dinner when it's dark.

This place was pretty awesome. We were staying in the older section of the hotel so the rooms were a little outdated but we were able to fit an extra bed for a toddler in a two queen bedroom and still be able to walk around which was awesome. There was a ceiling fan even! Staff were great as well. The only downside was the price, for being in the park and so close to everything I can live with that!

Very clean rooms. Friendly staff and great service. Nice location. The hotel is within 20 mins drive of all the great points along the South rim.

My stay was enjoyable, and the proximity to the canyon is unbeatable. Overall, it's an amazing location. My only two complaints are that the bed feels like it is a piece of plywood with a sheet on it. But so do most hotel beds. My main complaint is the check-in process. The lady who checked us in was rude and unhelpful. The two employees next to her checked in two guests in the time it took her to check us in. Then her handwriting was so bad we could not read our room number so we had to try several rooms before finding ours.

  • 5/5 Jay F. 7 months ago on Google
Our room in Maswik South was excellent...modern clean, mini fridge, bathroom efficient. Spacious. Staff are friendly and hard working. Loved our stay here. Location is such a short walk to Bright Angel trail head. Plus a Shuttle stop at the door.

  • 3/5 Mike741776 9 months ago on Google
The A/C kicked on after the room got warm, and also fairly loud. Room was new and clean and nicely furnished. Very dark walking around the property at night ( bring a flashlight). Also, a barn door type slider for the bathroom. 10+ minute walk to the canyon rim. Bus stop right outside if you prefer. Hotel had a gift shop, cafeteria, and a pizza pub.

  • 5/5 Evelyn G. 9 months ago on Google
The first thing I noticed was how beautiful it looks on the way there. When I got there, the air felt so fresh and nice to breathe in. That was a nice surprise! There's so many ways to get around, too. There's bikes, shuttle busses, train, helicopter, and jeep tours. The food costs more than I am used to, but it's probably because it's so close to a national park. One thing I should've brought was a flash light because at night there aren't many lights on outside. They do that for the purpose of seeing the stars.

  • 1/5 Todd C. 5 months ago on Google
Terrible experience. Check in was at 4pm, took them over an hour to check us in then put us in a 50 year old building (renovated maybe 20 years ago), surrounded by construction hazards, that was over a 1/4 mile away from the main lodge, the furthest one away. And no street lights at all, anyone walking to their room in evening or after sunset does it in pitch darkness. You have to depend on your flashlight just to walk back to your room. Because of this my wife tripped and fell and skinned her knee (lawsuit pending). The gift store is grossly overpriced and staffed by a rude old Indian woman who complete ignored me, finally rang me up but it was very inconvenient for her. Kinda the standard attitude for most of the The food court was nice, good selections, the taco salad is generous and priced reasonably but the amount you get depends on the servers mood. The Fred Harvey Restaurant was ok (overpriced at $27/person) great atmosphere, live entertainment, great tender roast beef, buttered asparagus spears, cauliflower etc.great but the Fish, spare ribs and artichoke potatoes all way over cooked, all burnt. The layout of the salad bar was bizarre. Everyone started at opposite ends and met in the middle at the dressings. And since when do you start with croutons??? And desserts are a secret. Not posted anywhere but your server will probably mention their availability at the end of your meal.

Nice place to stay in the Grand Canyon. Lots of building and room options. The main building has a food court with a diverse menu, from pizza to salad to barbecue and vegan options. The room we stayed in was nice enough especially being in the park. The bathroom was recently remodeled, they did a good job, not just a patch job. They have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion in the shower and at the vanity. The parking is close to the rooms. Elk and deer at your doorstep. Overall, enjoyable and satisfying. Again, it's in the park so you can't get any better without camping it.

GOOD ROOM, GOOD PRICE, GREAT STAFF! Let's start with the staff. THEY ALL WANT TO BE THERE! They want to help because they ALL WANT TO BE THERE. This isn't some Hampton or Holiday Inn or even Marriott. Did I mention, THEY ALL WANT TO BE THERE? That means they want you to be there too! They WANT YOU to have a good, even great, experience. This means above and beyond is pretty normal for them - please don't abuse them and don't ask them of something unreasonable. Oh, and me and my 3y 8mo old daughter had a great time! She enjoyed the bike rides and riding in her backpack, and I enjoyed the views. Good Room. The Astoria Hotel this is not. El Tovar isn't either. This is the wilderness where they happen to bring the comforts of indoor plumbing and air conditioning. Set your expectations before you go. The rooms are clean and well kept. Good Price. Book early. If you book late like we did, you have to be lucky. . .which we were, only because we went on the off-season! Why is it more expensive than the local Quality Inn in Wichita Falls at $70 (we stayed there earlier on our trip)? They have to get EVERYTHING down small national park roads in a way that doesn't disturb the beauty of the Grand Canyon and the whole reason you're there - to have a beautiful undisturbed experience. Can you imagine a four lane interstate running through the park? Sure it would make it more convenient, but boy would it ruin the whole point of it. Special shoutouts: Chelsea. Great energy! A smile that brightens the room! Thank you for the trashbag to make my daughter to use as a toddler size rain poncho. It was still too big, but we found another smaller bag . . .and then didn't need it! She already thinks I'm McGyver, but this one was new to her! And speaking of that trashbag. . . Dan. Man, sorry for being disorganized and not bringing enough luggage to pack everything properly that I had to use the trashbag and toss everything there! Let me pay for a massage when you come back to Houston for that drink. Charlotte. What wonderful stories! I told my daughter your stories as best I could remember. There's magic in the Southwest, and you shared the magic you knew with us! EMBRACE MYSTERIES! TJ currently at the El Tovar Restaurant. Michelin 3 star service! You and Conner! How wonderful to run into you when you're not on duty! We were not able to thank your manager for seating us as we arrived just as the restaurant was closing for lunch. We had a train to catch an hour later and she shoo-ed us in. We had a wonderful lunch and my daughter didn't get on the train hungry! I wanted to thank her for being so considerate of my daughter, but she was not at the front as we were leaving. Her granddaughter and my daughter share the same name. EVERYONE. If I gave you my card, that means I found something awesome about you and want to keep in touch!

I went with a tour group as the driver and we had lunch here. The food wasn't all that great but the people and service were absolutely high class all the way. Super friendly. We were only there for the day so we did check into the hotel.

The location is great right next to the Grand Canyon. The staff is rude from the start of check in process, definitely need to bring a personal fan cause the a/c doesn’t work, and you’re better off bringing your own sheets cause they are rough/scratchy as hell. Would not stay at this resort again.

  • 4/5 Holli E. 11 months ago on Google
The lodge is good. The beds were not terrible, but some in our group had trouble with them not being comfortable. The room is nice and clean. Loved the patio, but don't expect a view. Ours looked out at the train tracks.... which was ok since we rode the train up from Williams. There is a shuttle stop at the main building, which is great. The shuttle system works like a well-oiled machine. Overall, the room worked great for us and we spent very little time there....... there's a GRAND view just a small distance away!

  • 5/5 Allen F. 7 months ago on Google
2 nights here as a bucket list trip. The room was nice with a rustic feel to it. Only a 5 minute walk to the rim of the Grand Canyon. Has a great food court with late dinner serving hours.

  • 3/5 Nicole W. 7 months ago on Google
The closer you get to the GC, the less quality food and accommodation become. Front desk reception was a mixed affair - the lady checking us in could not have been more unpleasant, but another co worker decided to answer my inquiries and she was absolutely lovely - informative, considerate, and sincere. The room itself was fine - clean, equipped with accessible outlets, a ceiling fan, an AC that sorta worked, and a shower. I did not enjoy finding a previous guest's sock by my corner of the bed.

  • 5/5 Miks A. 1 year ago on Google
Great location with shuttle bus right outside the reception, the room was modern and comfortable since it is part of the recently built lodges, and there is a food court and tourist shop. I'm not sure how good the rooms are in the older lodges, but we had a great experience. If you're planning to stay at the South Rim, this hotel is a great choice.

  • 3/5 Jim E. 9 months ago on Google
So our group is two older folk, one in a wheelchair but semi-ambulatory, with two teens. We took an accessible room with two queens and a rollaway. The building is dated but ok, but it is at the bottom of a steep and rough asphalt ramp. Not friendly to the chair, really hard to negotiate. The room is close to the registration/gift shop/food court, which is really nice. The busses stop there too. The Grand Canyon is amazing, our hotel experience less so. Be careful and ask a lot of questions when booking for someone with a disability.
