The brisket is seasoned perfectly. For me the meat could have been more tender but it still had great flavor. The sloppy Juan is a sloppy Joe in a taco but with brisket and a flour tortilla. The pico de gallo as a topping is a plus. The sides were potato salad and I like the roasted potatoes and the touch of dill with bacon. The cheese hominy was a great take on Mac and cheese but with more flavor. The banana pudding is very fluffy but it was so so compared to other banana pudding I have had. Not much indoor seating but a good amount of outdoor seating.

First time here on a Saturday morning. We arrived around 1130am & there was a line outside the door! Parking is a bit tricky too but not impossible. Plenty of room towards the back. Since it was our first time we got a bit of everything. The brisket, beef cheek and beef fajita were our top favorites. All these meats are seasoned and smoked beautifully, very tender and lots of flavors coming through with every bite. Brisket sausage and the jalapeno & cheese sausage were amazing too, each link was generously filled with meat and the smokey flavor comes through. Lastly, we had the sloppy Juan, i think the meats were a combination of pulled pork and chopped brisket- it was perfect. The bottled sloppy Juan sauce added a bit of tang but both meats were so flavorful that it didn't really need the sauce. Tortillas come in 3, 6 or 12 pcs - definitely get 'em!

After seeing Zavala's BBQ on Netflix we decided to drive from Houston just to have lunch and drive back. We loved it!! I tried the brisket, beef rib, and sausage accompanied with potato salad and banana pudding. The staff were super friendly and the food was even better. You'll be paying through the nose compared to other spots but it's their time to milk the good marketing happening right now. I will definitely plan on coming back next time I'm in the area.

We were 1st in line. The joint is a very small funky place, but so full of life and energy. The food should be top 5 on Texas Monthly in my opinion. The food is OUTSTANDING, the service is great and extremely friendly, and the atmosphere is awesome. Do yourself a favor and go over to Brisket & Main in Grand Prairie and enjoy this very underrated gem!

We ended our BBQ tour this morning at this delightful little spot and I could not be happier. Yes, the food was delicious (anytime you give me hominy I’m happy, and tacos are for every day, not just Tuesday’s - the Sloppy Juan was delicious). The food was pepper forward, which we all enjoyed, and the jalapeño cheese sausage was the best we’ve tried all week - loved the texture. But by far, the best part was being served by Joe. He was serving his customers like they were family. Chatting and telling stories like we were at thanksgiving dinner. Thank you Zavala Fam for welcoming strangers into your home away from home. 10/10.

I've been wanting to get to Zavala's for awhile now, finally got the opportunity today! The brisket was delicious, nice bark, seasoned well, fat was rendered nicely... It was just great. And the Sloppy Juan was outstanding! Surprisingly, I think it was even better than the brisket. Great flavor, unique, innovative idea... man, it was exceptional! Three service was good, friendly folks in line & sitting near us too - felt very much like a family restaurant. Exactly the kind of experience I want, friendly Texans everywhere. The atmosphere is fine, nothing wrong with it at all... just know it's not fancy. It's not meant to be, the food is the star!

Let me begin this review by saying that I've been through every state in the U.S. my job allowed me to eat wherever and whatever sounded good. The Best BBQ was my quest, so along with my co pilot we toured the U.S. My first time here at Zavalas, a big lunch crowd. Not much indoor seating lots of outdoor though, and kind of bad in the 100 plus Temps. So I got a 2 meat plate to go; The plate was brisket ,sausage,2 sides and no drink- $24 and change. The brisket had great bark but way too much pepper for my taste. Sausage was good; beans were great! BBQ sauce was really kind of hot and took away from the flavor of the food in a way. I like spicy foods but not when I'm eating BBQ. Portions were kind of small for the price, maybe inflation has a part in price but I will stick to my go-to bbq places. Check em out if you want

Smoked Meat for those w Money to Burn... Nice, heavily peppered brisket and smoked meats. Limited, although sometimes remarkable sides... I'm a fan of the food. That said, the price of barbecue in D/FW has gotten ridiculous and Zavala's is no exception. I suppose brisket w tortillas rather than sliced bread IS something of a novelty on some level. And the place does have a certain charm. I want to be a fan but, the economics of the meal are prohibiting. The Grand Prairie store has a small, often crowded interior full of folks willing to pay what are mostly $70-90 bills. If you're a party of one, expect to pay $25-40. For groups of more than 4, it's likely outdoor seating will be your only option. Pleasant perhaps in the spring or fall but, at these prices, really unacceptable in the Texas heat (as evidenced by the wilted diners keeping an eye out for refuge inside, however slight it may be.) It would seem our humble barbecue has become something else entirely.

You don't hear about this place in the BBQ reviews but you probably should. This tiny little hidden gem of a place knows Mexicue. I was meeting a friend here for lunch and tried the cheesy hominy and banana pudding on recommendation from a very good source and was not disappointed. As for the meat, the brisket was oh so juicy and tender and a little spicy! In the best kind of way. I also got the pizza pepper sausage and man oh man... that was my favorite thing. If that's not a regular part of the menu it should be. With that said... The only thing I was disappointed about was that I didn't get more but I'll be back and I'm coming hungry!

First time at this BBQ spot. Enjoyed eating in the outside seating area. Really enjoyed the sides, the coleslaw and hill country potato was SSOOOOO GOOD. Ribs and brisket was a good call. To top it all off a nice cold beer 🥰

This was my first trip here. This is whatTexas BBG is all about. It has thats all town BBG feel with wooden tables out side. Not open mon-wed but worth waiting for. The brisket is amazing has a great pepper bark on it. You can tell the owner is always in the house. If you can try a little bit of everything, its all amazing. Great sides. Love BBQ come here.

This place is so good! I travel all over Texas for great barbecue, and this place instantly made it into my top five. The brisket was amazing, and you must try the Sloppy Juan ! Make sure you ask for a tortilla and put all of your extra meat in it. And then try their tasty salsas that they have at the table.

A small craft bbq joint delivering some of the best bbq in the state! Service was exceptional (loved the free Lone Star) and the food was incredible. I wouldn’t be surprised if this makes it in the top 5 Texas Monthly list next time around.
