Today, I am saddened to give the park a two star for one simple reason: TRASH. EVERYWHERE. We had not been to the park in a long time and decided to stop by today to enjoy the fresh air and water views. We were so saddened and disappointed by what we saw that we didn’t even stop or get out of the car. The photos say it all. Trash everywhere. Overflowing dumpsters. Ducks and wildlife sitting right next to piles of beer cans. We were absolutely appalled. We only saw one City worker picking up trash. It would have taken 30 people to pick up all of the trash before it made its way into the lake and nearby woods and creeks. Hopefully we’ll venture back in the future, but this was a disappointing outing. And it stung even more because we paid $20 to get in, just to sightsee a bunch of trash.

EXPENSIVE PARKING! CROWED! MULTIPLE ACTIVITIES! The one pet peeve I have about ANY PARK is parking fees! The City of Grand Prairie should be ashamed to charge $20 per car, and then RECHARGE ANOTHER $20 dollars if you happen to loose your ticket for reentry. That is nuts! I attended the park for a family reunion. Man, it's June, 2022, and the weather was 102 degrees! VERY HOT! Fortunately the park allows you to rent pavilion space, and if you do your setup properly, you will be up under a significant amount of shade. The park does open up to a very impressive lake. They have even in marked areas where children and adults can swim. You can also boat here with ease. I assume it is a good place for fishing. It is quite an impressive lake, but again due to the parking, the congestion, and the overall trash I saw around the area I would not want to visit this place again anytime soon.

Beautiful lake and playground. Clean restrooms. A lot of tables for picnic. A lot of charcoal grills( you need to bring your own charcoal ). 20$ entry fee. For residents of Grand Prairie there is no charge. Once you pay and entry there is no re- entry. So bright Everting before you come. I don’t like texas lakes to swim in (water always looks dirty). But kids swim in this. Beautiful view. They have boat ramp. So you can see boats while you cook your hamburgers.

Had such a great time this past Sunday. We may make this a Sunday ritual. Love living right around the corner from the lake.

I love this place! My hunny lives here and we make it a priority to come here and have our picnic on a blanket. I'm from Waco & hopefully I'll be moving this way.

Absolutely an amazing experience. It’s so beautiful in April. The water is cold but refreshing. Lots of tables, shade, and many many cook out grills. Bring shades as there is real sand on the beach and is very reflective. And allergy meds! I’m not sensitive to allergies but there is lots of nature here so be prepared. The trees have many spiders and ants. Be safe and have fun!!

I visited the park on Father’s Day of last Sunday. I took my 2 daughters and 3 of their friends. They charged 40 dollars no in and out no problem I’ll pay if I have to leave. Which I did have to leave to go get my daughters Asthma pump came back and park was closed. The gentleman at the the light entrance was terrible to me, horrible attitude and the way he spoke to me concerning my children, Told me I would not only retrieve my children and their friends. He didn’t have a resolve for me or explained proper steps or channels because I was told there was none and I was told to have 5 little girls walk to the Main Street! I called the gate office and was on hold for over an hour, no one ever picked up. A random woman brought my belongings children and friends to the street. I never ever want to experience someone this rude again.

They are surely not as friendly as they used to be, but I guess I'm not going there for their friendship we're going there to fish, or to walk out there and have exercise. And if you're trying to do those two things it's a great place.

Low review due to price increase. More to say about overall experience below. Please pay the $15 for your kids life jacket- too many drownings at ALL lakes. My “big kid” swimmer understands that in a lake, it’s Non-negotiable… even in 1 ft of water. I have been going here since I was little and have always enjoyed it. That being said, the entry fee price has gone up so high, I can’t visit as often nor can my friends and family. They would make more money if they dropped their prices back down to $10… It’s now at $20 per vehicle and no reentry which is also wild to me considering many people do tend to need to make quick stops at the store for items. Another option, offer cheaper weekday prices. We paid $60 on a third afternoon for our three cars because everyone was coming in from work. Ridiculous! Areas are clean for the most part. Guest really suck about leaving bottle caps everywhere but that’s about it unless you go on Monday (then it’s dirty from the weekend party crowd - still not horrible though all things considered) Bathrooms (they are all over the park too) are clean (for a lake park) and stocked. I have always been impressed with that!!! Sooo many shady spots in the picnic areas that also provide grassy and sandy grounds. Great playground at the designated swim area. This park is set up nicely. Be nice to the security!!! They are simply ensuring the park stays beautiful and safe. Please just lower the entry fee and come up with a friendlier policy. What used to be my “go-to” park is about to not… Grapevine has become the cheaper alternative and offers more technically… just a litter further north than I prefer and it’s not my loved Joe Pool.

Lovely, clean beach. Even though there is a small play area, my kids preferred to play at the beach. I love the fact that there is a boundary (as seen in the picture) to keep kids away from deep area. There are couple of picnic tables with canopies. Bring your own camping chairs just in case. No pets allowed. No life guard on duty.

My home away from home. Peaceful and tranquil. The water de-stresses me and it’s my favorite place to clear my mind and reflect.

We went Aug 28, 2022 to celebrate my daughters birthday. We got there around 10 am and got a pretty good spot with three benches under shade in front of the swim area and by restrooms. Restrooms were decent. Everything was wonderful until the sun set and we were bombarded by millions and millions of mosquitoes!!! You also cannot reenter if you leave and have to pay another $20 - which is ridiculous.

Haven't been to Joe Pool since I was young but I really wanted to go back and glad we went ... Kids really enjoyed the water, husband and I enjoyed the atmosphere.

It was ridiculous that the parks and recreation increased the park fees from $15.00 dollars per car, to $40.00 per car for the holiday. Cities on the north side like Frisco, Allen, Mckinney, and Prosper do not increase fees for events and venues and price gouge people visiting their cities. They encourage tourism because they understand the benefits tourists bring to the city.

Great family fun in the water spot, free for local residents, first come for park covered picnic table areas near water, or bring your own canopy tents and floats, great place for kids at the beach area that has blockade from boats and jet skis, bathroom facilities and great play park for kids all waterside😄 Clean water!

I thought I would try to find an easy walk next to this lake. Scenic, but trail nonexistent or sucked. Review said hiking trails, but I must have been in wrong area. Bailed after 30 minutes. Again, place is nice, but don’t go there if your looking for a 3 to 4 mile walk on a nice trail.
