We just got to our room and are here for a work conference. If you get lucky to stay in the tower, your room will probably be nicer but our room is on the older side of the hotel and it definitely shows. Bathrooms are in need of a major facelift. Our curtains have huge nasty stains. Bedding has stains and hairs on the blanket. Definitely won’t be staying here again. Only reason we are keeping our reservation is because the room was paid for. For $250 a night, I’d expect a much nicer hotel. You can stay at a Holiday Inn and have a nicer room for cheaper. The room and bathroom are so small too.

NOT WORTH IT! My wife and I stayed here for our wedding and it was absolutely not worth it. We had booked a suite for our wedding night, hoping that it would be a super nice room to come back to after a long day, and for $450 a night there were so many disappointments. Bathroom was smaller than a normal hotel room, floor tile was cracked, sink was cracked, shower head was barely on the wall, towels were so rough, and no fan in the bathroom. The main part of the suite was decent size but the safe in the room didn't work, the grandfather clock in the room didn't work, and the fridge was barely cold. The hotel doesn't have a free breakfast but they do have a little cafe you can buy breakfast at. The only good part of this hotel was the server we had at the bar downstairs. For $450 a night, you would expect so much more, especially for a wedding suite. You are better off staying at a Holiday Inn for $100 a night that at least has better amenities. They also charged me $100 for parking at their garage, which we were told would be validated because we stayed there, but during checkout, the lady took our room keys that let you out the garage and charged us to get our cars out instead. Save your money, go somewhere better.

An excellent location, but lacking service and maintenance in rooms for price point. No features or amenities, which are abundant, were mentioned. Furnishings in room were evidently damaged, with doors that didn't shut properly. All in all, the Skyway features leading to multiple locations and the dining options in hotel are great. The trade off is sub-par hospitality. If you're looking for a location downtown with easy walkable accessibility, this is the place, however, for expected hospitality and luxury features, I'd recommend elsewhere.

This is probably the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. I would rate it lower if I could!!! Front desk staff was not friendly or helpful at all. I downloaded the app and upgraded my stay for a river view and was able to pick my room, and planned on staying near friends. When I got there I was told my room was given away to someone that extended their stay or there was a glitch in the system. I was never notified of anything and they also claimed they had 0 rooms to give me on that same floor. The lady was very rude, refused to give me a manager, offered 0 compensation or any kind of help. It was very sad I was almost in tears at the desk. This was supposed to be a special thing for my daughter and her friends and it was completely ruined. I then called and asked for a manager and the lady I had just talked to pretend to talk to my again and act like she didn’t know what the problem was. I was then put on hold for a long time and someone else offered still no help but was a little nicer. After about 20 minutes. I was offered a gift card for the hotel for $35… I had spent $300 on this room and to top it off the upgrade I paid for to have a river view. Was just a view of a roof. I’m still not sure how my room was given away but both of my friends still had their rooms. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel and the way I was treated was so poorly. So disappointing I don’t even know what else to say. When I went to pick up my “gift card compensation” I spoke to a 3rd lady who said she would escalate my issue because that’s not how guests should be treated and someone would get back to me…. Never happened. Sad.

My room was as expected, clean and comfortable. However, the purpose of leaving this review is to shout out the absolutely amazing front desk staff. My service at check in was great, but Gil and Melissa went above and beyond for me. I needed assistance at almost midnight with printing documents and they did not hesitate to help me with my odd request. Was much appreciated!!! Thanks guys :)

Do yourself a favor and get a room with 2 beds... It was large and space to move around. My friends King room was small and stuffy. We had a ugly view of a rooftop and generators. Just a thought that maybe put some plants out there or something. It would really have improved the experience. Good service. Got extra towels delivered to room promptly. Location great for downtown venues. A bit pricey and paying for parking sucked. Definitely some improvements needed.. A few areas were shabby. Stains on carpet of elevator, no room service, my iron had old water in it, the bathroom drain plug broke and I had to brush my teeth in the shower...not what you would expect for the price.

I recently stayed at this hotel. The staff was excellent. Kam at the front desk was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable and very pleasant. My experience here was very positive. However, i was quite disappointed to find out that they don't clean your room daily while you are staying there. I can understand this practice at a lesser quality hotel, but not at this one. One of the staff mentioned that there were only a few housekeeping staff members, and there's no way that they could clean your room every day. With the amount of money required to stay here, I'm baffled as to why they won't fix this issue and hire more staff.

A very good hotel for many reasons. Every interaction with a staff member was excellent, wish other hotels trained and hired good people like this hotel. Good shopping right in the lobby, mens and women’s, dresses, suit jackets, lots of clothes, also essentials, food, pop, gifts, even a liquor store that was reasonably priced for a hotel. There’s a Starbucks too! The Wolfgang Puck bar and restaurant was excellent, food and drinks were very good. Nice fitness, pool and spa facilities. They have two Pickle Ball Courts! Overall the property is generally clean and taken care of but it is dated, showing its age with signs of wear. Maintenance was very responsive to a number of minor maintenance issues from the group of wedding guests that we were part of. Mini-fridge had a broken door they replaced it immediately, one of the four elevators needed reprogramming, they responded immediately, one room had a spot of mold, they gave the guest another room immediately no hassles. Valet parking is only $4 more than self park so why park yourself. Many many 4-5 Google star restaurants and shops within short walking distance. The view from our room was exceptional. We’ll stay here again.

We got here and had upgraded to a junior suite. Upon walking into our suite we realized our room was surrounded by families with very loud kids - which is fine! But it’s our anniversary and we wanted to be away from kiddos. We went down and talked to the front desk and they moved us without any trouble to a fabulous room with a river view. The service here is fabulous, the rooms are well kept and comfy, and the hotel itself is historic and just makes you feel special while you’re here. Thank you all for a great stay!!!

This property is starting to show its age. Carpets that need replacing, grout that needs repair, elevators that need a good stain and polish, and oddly positioned toilet paper roll holders and shower doors that force you to get wet to turn on the water. In the 80’s, I bet this was one of the nicest hotels in the state. I give credit that they have made clear strides to keep the hotel in good shape, and I do plan to stay again.

Great downtown location in Grand Rapids. I’ve stayed at the Amway Grand a number of times and the service is excellent, as are the rooms. Choose from a traditional room or a more contemporary suite in the new tower, each have this own charm. On the higher floors in the new tower you’ll be greeted with fantastic views. Rings are typically well appointed, very well maintained and sparkling clean. As you would expect from a Hilton, the beds sand linens are wonderful. There was new tech I experienced allowing direct connection from my smart phone to connect YouTube and Netflix to the TV. Staff are generally mid west friendly (a compliment) and the Starbucks on the main floor is open at 7am.

I LOVE the Amway hotel. It's a great mix of classic and contemporary decor. Recently I attended an event there and I was on a very strict diet. I went prepared not to eat due to it but the service was phenomenal and the chef put together a meal that met my needs. I was also told next time call ahead to the food service department and they will have something ready for you because they'd rather you eat than not. I felt so well taken care of and the food was beyond delicious at the event.

The hotel is beautiful, but there are some points that could use some attention. First, you only get housekeeping services if you request them. Nobody told us this. Apparently there are signs on either end of the front desk. If you check in at the middle of the desk, you're out of luck. Would have been nice if the person checking us in had mentioned this. Second, the sliding bathroom door is so heavy one can barely open and close it. Third, the water pressure in the bathroom sink is terrible. Fourth, please use some fabric softener on your towels. It felt like I was drying off with sandpaper. And lastly, please get a more affordable restaurant in the hotel.

Place was lovely. While everyone was helpful, signage was less than consistent. When a convention is going on, the two breakfast venues are swamped. There is no cheap, reliable, available breakfast/lunch alternatives. Great view of the river from Roma on the west end. Lots of good places to eat nearby. Good parking.

This was my first time visiting this hotel and it was beautiful on the inside. They have a lot of small shops on the inside and a few restaurants. The service inside the hotel was great. The valet parking was trash. They rushed us every time and I caught one of them giving my step father a dirty look while he was taking my toddler out of the car because he had to wait to pull the next vehicle up. I have stayed all over from Chicago, New York, and so on and I have never saw valet behave like that. The rooms were very clean and modern. The view was beautiful. Over all I was satisfied with my stay here.

Booked a room for 1000 dollars a night to watch the fireworks. I Was told they can't guarantee a view but would make a note to move me to correct side of hotel if something became available. Received an email the following day asking for an additional 150 dollars to move me to the same room I had already booked and requested but with a better view. What a money grab.

The hotel is nice and clean. Amenities. No where near worth the price. No bottled waters in the room. No robes, slippers etc one would expect at such a price point. There was no where to park to check in, drop bags then park across the street. The front desk was friendly. I was going to give four stars until we were billed incorrectly. The room was booked with one credit card. Upon arrival, we said we would pay with a different card. While checking out, my friend's card was swiped and signed for. Allegedly swapping out my card that held the reservation. They billed, then credited his card, then billed mine. It was an inconvenience for us both. You can also see into people's rooms across, above and below you. Paying for the view then needing to keep the curtains closed wasn't ideal.

I was very disappointed in my stay. Not a good experience. The pool was disgusting and although the slide was out of order, I chose the hotel so my kiddos could swim. We walked in around 10am and there was food, wrappers, and clothes left all around. We turned right back around.. just gave me the creeps. I also ordered breakfast. A fruit cup and French toast. After paying and walking back to my room, I discovered mold on my fruit- ugh! It took 20 minutes for the operations manager to refund my $10 for 1 cup of fruit and when I got to the room to eat our French toast, its was all burnt and cold.. no one ate it. I definitely wanted to head back down and request a refund but I certainly didn’t want to go through that hassle again! I never complain.. I don’t sent back food.. I rarely express dissatisfaction but the older I get, understanding my role as a consumer as well as a good manager of my money, I must be vocal this time.

Rooms were good, within walking distance of food and pubs. Fairly quiet, good amenities in the room. No microwave in room, but otherwise, it's a great place to stay. Personal preference, wish beds were softer. Had to go buy a mattress topper for the week we stayed, but again, that's personal preference. Self parking was a breeze and very close to hotel.

The customer service at the check in was great! The view in the room was pretty cool. They need to work on customer service in the valet parking. We were gifted a room for our wedding night and upon checking out the next morning we had a older gentlemen in the parking ramp exit area who was refusing to let us leave because our last name was not on the guest list. When we mentioned that we were gifted the room for our wedding present and it could be under our friends name, he got VERY rude and said we can’t just guess ransom names until we find one that matches his list. Please work customer service skills with your employees!

Love this hotel! We always stay in the Tower. This time they upgraded us to a corner suite with complimentary wine and valet parking as the last time we stayed, there were a few issues (first time ever). They made sure to make it right! I love them even more for that. There’s a covered tunnel/walkway to the Van Andal arena for concerts and events which is super nice during the winter. They are in the perfect location to explore downtown Grand Rapids.

I was really looking forward to staying at the Amway Grand, given its reputation in Grand Rapids. However, when we got to our room after the concert we went to, we found out our a/c wasn't working. When I called the front desk, they said they'd send maintenance up. We waited about 10-15 minutes, but were exhausted (it was after midnight), but never heard from anyone. So I called back to the front desk and said we were going to bed. We cranked the a/c down to 65 and it finally kicked on. But around 2:45, I woke up, hot again. I cranked the a/c down even more (to 61), and it finally kicked on. When we woke up in the morning, it was once again warm in our room, even though the thermostat read 61°F (yes, I checked that it was F and not C). I was exhausted because of poor sleep. Luckily, I was able to take a nap at home before having to go back to work that afternoon, but it's now a couple of days later and I'm still real tired. The check-in process was great and other than the first call to the front desk, the customer service was good. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, and the hot water was very responsive. We had a great view. So, yes, it was basically a good night. But not having working a/c kind of marred our overnight stay.

Truthfully, I’ve stayed at better quality for less. For $600 for only two nights, I would have expected my room to have at LEAST Air Conditioning…. Our bathroom had no fan so it made the room temperature worse. I originally booked a king room and was giving two queens with A.) the worlds worst view of a river with a big building right in front of my window… and B.) was given no compensation or anything about the inconvenience because they over booked the hotel. When I reserved the room a month+ in advance. the only reason I’m giving it the starts is just for the convenience of location in the city. I was pretty disappointed with the experience of the hotel. Also: it was pretty self explanatory with the tiny plaque they had in the elevator.. but no one told us when we checked in that you have to swipe your room key to even operate the elevator. Struggling at 2am to operate a elevator. A drunken stranger kindly saw us struggling and informed us.

This is the nicest hotel I have ever been too and it was an amazing experience. I went here for a competition and it was fun hanging out during the times when the event was going on. Me and my friends explored the hotel and there were a lot of cool things about it. It has 2 or 3 restaurants and it has a nice pool and workout area. Also if you go high enough in the elevator you can see outside, which is cool because it is a very nice view. There are also plenty of places to eat that are within walking distance of the hotel which is nice. They even have people that greet you at the door and take you bags to your room for you. The rooms were also nice and spacious which mine had 2 beds and a couch with a tv, but the couch was stiff. Everything else was good though. Great hotel but probably expensive if I had to guess. But if your looking for a nice hotel then this would be a good choice.

My boyfriend and I stayed here to attend an event at Devos and it was nice to be able to walk inside to get there and not need to bring jackets or drive/park. The Lumber Baron Bar on the first floor is one of our GR favorites, even though this was our first time staying in the hotel we come often for the great drink menu and atmosphere. The front desk staff was kind and welcoming and got us checked in right away. We parked in the parking structure, which turns out was free and that was a nice surprise. It was disappointing that our shower was not clean, (there was a bunch of hair on the walls!?) otherwise the room was fine. The bed was very comfy and we were given the option for a room on a higher floor which had a partial view of the river. If we had stayed more than one night, not having a fridge would have been a bummer, but we were just there for the event and didn't want to drive after so that wasn't a big deal this time. I would stay again for the convenience for sure.

Great views on the riverside and the room was very nice. The front desk team was very accommodating. Nothing to complain about but if there are certain amenities you want to use the day you check in confirm in advance if they're working. Staff was light so they had to have shorter hours so I couldn't use some. Not a deal breaker for me but I can see how for some it could frustrate.
