The lobby is so awkward in when you check in ... it is pretty shabby if you look closely around especially the ceiling. Also in the rooms the windows were filthy and smelled very foul. My room smelled different bad than my mom's adjoining room which was odd. The rooms are nice though esp the bathroom configuration. We also had a very helpful bellhop and the man who checked us in was also very good. They do need to let guests know the elevator takes a key...and the railing at the elevator bank needs to be higher seems so low for being 9 stories up. I slept really well here which is priceless. The luncheon buffet was good, and the evening bartender really went the extra mile and was very attentive. Breakfast was also good but a tad $$$. $50 for two meals and 2 coffees. Good brewed house coffee.

We've stayed at numerous Marriotts but this was our 1st stay at a JW and we were absolutely delighted! The location, the staff the ambience and the rooms are above excellent. The spa was wonderful and so was the pool area. The river view is fantastic and the river side bar is wonderful. Rooms were spacious and well appointed and the bath had a spa-like feel to it. No hesitations in recommending this JW 5/5!!

No room cleaning available during my stay, no gym, no pool, no hot tub available due to construction. Honestly how is the price justified with no amenities available? Myself and others received unauthorized charges on our credit cards from the hotel. I would avoid this hotel, stay else where.

This hotel is beautiful. It is very clean. The staff is very friendly. One staff member went out of his way to bring me the water I preferred each day because I advised on day one I didn't care for the Voss water my company selected for us to have. The food served at their restaurant is delicious. There are things to do within walking distance. I was on business but plan to return on leisure as soon as it begins to warm back up.

Just visited the JW Marriott for the first time yesterday. I met up with a few friends on the 10th floor and shared some drinks with them. This establishment offers you a riverside view to sit back and have a few. The staff was very friendly. The location is beautiful. The views are priceless. I would most definitely recommend this establishment for long term and short term stays.

This is a great JW hotel in the heart of Grand Rapids. The rooms could be a bit larger, but they were as expected in a city. We were blown away by the service! Everyone was friendly and super helpful as we've never been to Grand Rapids before. I have to really call out a special thank you to the staff in the concierge lounge. They were truly the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people we've ever met! The valets and front desk staff were great also. What a great experience!!!

We had a block of 30 rooms for a business trip and were extremely disappointed in the service we received upon arrival. Working with the sales team to arrange the trip was great, but it seems that the front desk had no knowledge of what had been arranged. Out of the 30 rooms, we had only 4 special requests and they were all ignored. We expected better. Definitely will not stay here on our next trip.

Weekend wedding, 2 suites & several Deluxe rooms. All guests said beds were very hard and not restful. Suite bathrooms not ADA compliant with no grab-bars by toilets, made it difficult. Also issues during guest check-in's. Breakfast buffet & valet were excellent. Overall, fell below Marriott expectations.

Great downtown location. Very nice room. Like the view of the river. Service was great. Bed could be softer, but that's personal preference. Pillows could be fatter ... again, personal preference. Breakfast buffet food good choices. Definitely recommend.

This place is very nice. You have an outdoor area, which are enclosed domes for individuals wanting to eat or just hang out pretty cool. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom is very nice with a separate tub and shower. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff were great. Right outside of the lobby are restaurants and pubs all within walking distance. If I had to rate it, I would give it an A+ Great job

Excellent rooms. We personally had a less than desired experience overall be ause of security issues in the parking garage, but hopefully this is not typical.

Comfortable and clean hotel. Location is very good. One of the drawback is that it has very less vegetarian options. It would be nice if they add some more vegetarian (eggless & without fish) options in the menu. Overall it’s one of the best hotel in grand rapids.

My room was absolutely gorgeous and extremely comfortable to stay in and very clean. Staff is very helpful and there's so many wonderful spaces even outside your room to enjoy the hotel. Our group was there for the RE/MAX convention and they had a wonderful and huge space for us to enjoy dinner together as well as dance let's loose and have fun. The wait staff, bartenders and food was just impeccable. I don't even know how they got those carrots to taste like that but it was amazing 🤩 Definitely an A+!

I've stayed in the hotel room as a guest with my wife and we've been here attending a banquet in both instances the staff was great. The hotel is very nice. It has Starbucks on the first floor if that's important to you. If you're looking for a hotel this is definitely one you will enjoy.

Top notch. Service was professional and kind. Employees as attentive and quick to ask if they can help (desk, restaurant, valet, cleaning staff…). Margaux desserts and breakfast buffet is a great experience. Thank you!!

Downtown fairly easy to get to with decent river or city views. The are has some issues with homelessness and those associated types of run ins. Several restaurants within walking distance but everything closes early so actual nightlife is basic bars. Hotel has one restaurant, no room service so that is limited. Room was gorgeous however and well appointed. The hotel and area are great for corporate type trips but as a vacation place? I would not recommend.

Rooms are very nice but hard mattresses. Loved the shower. The pool does not have stairs to walk in u must climb down ladder or jump. Tile is very slippery by the pool area. Limited seating. The exercise room is great. Lots of options. Need room key to work elevator. Parking in parking garage or valet option. View is great of river. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Felt safe in hotel area.

This hotel is the top of the line in the Marriott chain and holds itself to those standards. The service and knowledge level if the staff is fitting with these expectations! No complaints about being short staffed or limits to service, valet, restaurant, housekeeping, etc! Thank you for another great stay. See yoy soon!!

My Husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and We used JW for our room blocks for our wedding. they were so accommodating! I wish I got the receptionist's name but on 8/13/22 our bridal party came to the hotel after our reception and we were all soaked from the rain and just wanting to sit and chat while we waited for pizza to be delivered. while we sat in the lobby the receptionist brought us cold waters and plates and napkins for us to use! these little gestures went a long way! THANK YOU!

We had the pleasure of working with Olivia during a wedding in July 2022 who was absolutely phenomenal in every single aspect for all 48 hours of the event. From our arrival on Friday early afternoon to our Sunday departure, Olivia or her team accommodated and made arrangements to ensure success throughout each function. Her team with Turner, Jake, Jim (from Valet), David & Aubree from reception, and several other members were constantly working and on their feet making sure all guests and vendors were taken care of. The international ballroom the JW Marriott has is gorgeous, their food is incredible, rooms are excellent and the staff working at this hotel may be the kindest hospitality and hotel staff in the state of Michigan. We fully support staying and hosting at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids!

Very surprised this is widely considered the best hotel in the city. Bell hop guys didn’t approach me when I pulled up. I had to walk up to them. Hot tub is closed. Ordered food for delivery and front desk wouldn’t drop it off to my room. The rooms are nice and especially the bathroom but not up to standards. I wouldn’t pay this price to stay here again.

The staff was very professional and kind. Shout out to the front desk guy who checked us in last night - he was a manifestation of an amazing front desk associate. The place appeared very well cleaned. Our room was beautiful. I very much enjoyed staying here. Plus the Starbucks is a bonus. 😎🥰
