Really great food, just took quite a while to get to us. Had some classic rock playing on the speakers, and one gal running around to the 3-4 tables plus doing what seemed to be numerous take-out orders. But, the drinks were cold and the chips & salsa nice and fresh. Enchiladas were delish, rice & beans on point. No complaints.

If you want a quaint, low- key casual dining experience in the heart of Grayslake, give Abel’s a try for good basic Mexican fare or pizza. The menu prices are a great value for the dishes and Margaritas are delicious. The servers are friendly and efficient although our alcoholic beverages were a bit slow due to one bartender to handle a hopping bar on a Friday night and dining room orders. The reasons for rating one less star are the limited hours (Wed.-Sat) and the chicken tacos which seemed to be cubed chicken thigh meat rather than white meat. Enchiladas were fabulous and other dining patrons seemed happy with their meals. Give Abel’s a try if you want good food at super fair prices and love smiling servers!

Abel's is excellent. The food is tasty good. Staff friendly. The night my family went , the people at the bar were singing and having a good ole time. 4 people ate for a little over $80 with tip. Food was taken home for next day. Yummmmm Go try Abel's , you won't be disappointed.

I didn’t get sick- that’s the positive. Otherwise, this was probably some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. DH got steak tacos and he said they were ok, and service was attentive, so two stars for that. Dining room was packed and everyone waited an eternity for their food to come out- some people walked out. Our food -when it showed up an hour later- was also cold. I ordered the chimichanga and it came with a slice of Kraft cheese on it- ewww..cold,soggy pile of ewww

A fantastic restaurant that can satisfy my wife’s craving for Mexican food, amazing tacos for myself, and kid-friendly options for my 2 picky eaters (and, ironically, the youngest -- at just over a year old -- is content to share whatever mom and dad are eating). Large serving sizes and reasonable pricing. And you can never go wrong supporting a local business!

Great place for a get together with friends, family or both. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious I highly recommend to check out their pico de gio its awesome. Their chips are always fresh too. Never had any issues with services or food with this place.

Great place to hang and dine either at the bar or get table service. I was happy they had Negra modelo on draft instead of bottles. Got a fresh batch of chips and salsa. I had a steak burrito and it was pretty big. I was full and satisfied with just the burrito. I also tried the fish tacos and they were seasoned well even with lettuce and tomatoes as toppings, it hit the spot. The wife enjoyed her steak tacos with cilantro and onions. We will definitely return many times and hope to enjoy some time out on their patio when summertime comes around!

ABELS HAS FOOD?! I thought this was the local "Cheers" style bar. Until I finally walked in. It doesn't have a super inviting entrance or sign, which typically knocks a star down, BUT... The food here is incredible. The price/flavor per bite is tip top. The service is AMAZING and personable. I highly recommend adding this to your rotation.

Don’t use their online order system. Closed at 7:00 but charged my card, sent an order confirmation through email and text. Arrived and lights out!! Hours posted said OPEN.

Did not eat here but friend's say not so good. Went for a friend's band...too loud for a small place. I think that I will not be returning.

Good food, rear service, local family business…not sure why they are closed on taco a Tuesdays?

GRACE WAS AMAZING, even in the face of absolutely chaos. She prevailed. Went with a very large group and they didn't have the staff to handle it but the did it. We have been there ateast 3 times the past week. Food is great, all the servers are friendly and quick. Love it here. We will be back.

Damn good Mexican food and really good prices. This is like my favorite cheap place to eat! Pablo Salad is gluten free and paleo too (I think) simple salad, but really good! Update: The pizza is really good. Over the years, this has become my favorite pizza place. I like thin crispy/crunchy crusts and good toppings. I especially like sausage and garlic pizza. So good from here. The sausage is so flavorful and the garlic muat be fresh chopped. It smells so good to walk in and smell the garlic on the pizza cooking. Tastes even better!

The staff at Abels give you the best service along with delicious food and drinks including the steak tacos, shrimp and garlic pizza and variety of margaritas. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the downtown Grayslake district. Five out of five stars

How many Mexican restaurants have you been to in your life? Me, hundreds. This place caught me by surprise, I honestly can say they have the best tacos, their corn tortillas are the best I’ve ever had, constantly craving them! Good service is always a plus! 🤌❤️🤤

Stale chips, the waitress said I’ll microwave!!! My daughters taco had the worst meat. Definitely spoiled

Definitely not a pizza spot worthy of a visit... Everything else is excellent!! Pizza is overrated on the reviews. This was not expected after seeing many "amazing pizza" comments. Being a pizza lover and literally trying every spot on the north shore, I was dying to try. I would like to follow the bandwagon but I have to be honest. I'd say at best a 1 out of 5 as a true and honest opinion. Tacos on the other hand are delicious with generous portions all the way around. Drinks are awesome and fairly priced! I have heard amazing things about their taco's from several people on a positive note. Finally had the opportunity to give them a try and I was not disappointed.

We went there to see a blues band that was fantastic. Other than that, I wasn't impressed. The service was slow but friendly, and the whole place in general lacked any real ambiance. The food was OK, but nothing to rave about.
