Taqueria Campeña

Restaurant Mexican restaurant

👍👍 What is there not to love about this place. The owners are so extremely nice, the food is priced great for the portions you get. And the flavor is spot on! And the chips, holy cow you get so many. And they don't charge for sour cream like other places around! People often mention good, chips, salsa, time, restaurant, delicious, tacos,

By far the best Mexican restaurant in Grayslake! I had the steak sope and IT WAS SO BIG AND DELICIOUS! If you are looking for home cooked Mexican this is the spot you must visit. If you are looking for some great posole on the weekends, please do yourself a favor come try it! I will definitely return for the attentiveness, taste of food and amazing prices!

We got the taco dinner. The steak and ground beef were delicious!! The chicken taco was a little spicy for my taste, but that's on me. I don't like much spice. When you eat at their place, you get salsa and chips, which are also delicious! We love to come here!

Some of the best (if not the best taco's next to Dos Amigos and Burrito Bravo) in Lake county! Barbacoa and al pastor are absolute 🔥🔥🔥 I definitely will be returning! The Rice, beans and corn con queso are all off the charts... I can't wait to come back and try more food off your menu. You without a doubt are the best Mexican restaurant in the area!!!

Great food for a great price. The green and red salsa are what sets this place apart in my opinion. Very few places have such great fresh and satisfying flavor. Definitely worth checking out if you like Mexican food. Al pastor tacos were my favorite.

Ordered a Chicken Milenesa torta and asked if they wouldn't mind putting on adobo chipotle salsa if they had it and they said sure. Got a steak milanesa torta without the salsa. It was good, I just ordered chicken. Thankfully, I have no dietary restrictions for that to be an issue. Hubby is diabetic so he only drinks water when out in order to be safe. They were out of water, except for one sparkling mineral water left. His tacos were double tortilla. We did think they were good. The green salsa was thick and flavorful, really liked it. Red was less spicy and was watery. It is a bit chilly in the eating area and there are no napkins sitting out for customers, in case you're eating out with small kids. No public restroom. All in all, not bad! But may not work for families with small children, those who need a restroom readily available, or those with dietary concerns.

I had the chicken fajitas to go. Chicken lacks seasoning and tortillas tasted like they were warmed up in the microwave. Beans tasted like they came out of a can. The price on the online menu is not updated but it is in the restaurant. Nice customer service, only complaints are about the food quality.

Family owned. Moving from Chicago which is taquiria nirvana. This is on par. Chips are made in house and are light, airy, and not over salted. El pastor taco greasy like it should be. Suggest adding crema and cheese. Ordered chips and salsa to go on way back to city and was presented with extra generous container of salsa with paper lunch bag of warm chips. Which had spots of oil soaking through. A sign of awesome chips. Happy to have a go to after leaving the city.

What a gem. Very unassuming from the outside. Very friendly; fresh, hot, flavorful food. Four cozy indoor booths and one outside table when we visited. Reminds us of our trips to Mexico. Will definitely be back again and again.

Cute Hole-in-the Wall restaurant. The place has 4 tables. I had the enchilada dinner - very good (sour cream on the enchiladas gave them extra flavor). Black beans instead of pinto beans -nice change. Prices were reasonable. Give the restaurant a try.

The food was delicious, we had shrimp and steak fajitas with rice and beans. The place is small, has 3 booths for dine in. After they brought the food out they never checked on us, no plates, we ate over napkins. We could have asked I guess but we didn't. No public bathroom. Anyway, the food was worth it, next time just carry out.

First time visit, it was good. I had the Cubano sandwich which was interesting, not your standard cuban. The menu has some unique items. Appears to be family owned and operated, Mr and Mrs Owner were very friendly and gracious hosts. Would have preferred something other than Paw Patrol a little too loud on the TV. Overall, I'd go back but likely do take out.

Best tacos around. Quality of ingredients and perfect taste. It is well worth your time to check this place out. I've included a picture of the food, but it is after I started diving into it. It was so good. They add specials from time to time that are well worth trying.

The food here is fantastic!! After driving by often we decided to stop in and we sampled a bunch of items: chips and guacamole, quesadillas, and flautas. The food is so fresh and delicious; we are already planning our next vist.

We tried this place on a whim...at 8:20 at night....on a weekday. The dining area is small. The woman working the counter and serving the food was EXTREMELY nice. While we were waiting for our taco's, 2 people came in for their carry out and 2 more couples came in and sat down. I can see why this place is as busy as it was. The chicken tacos were better than good. I wouldn't say phenomenal, but I'd DEFINITELY order them again. My girlfriend got the ground beef tacos. If this was a competition, she would have won...without batting an eye. I would recommend Taqueria Campeña. Next time I'm getting the Fajitas!!!!

We love this place. The tacos are great portions. They also have a good variety of choices. Their corn on the cob is really good.

Incredible Italian Beef! The owner was very warm and welcoming and the inside of the restaurant was very clean with ample seating inside and outside. I had the Italian Beef dipped with sweet and mild peppers which are homemade
