Pleasant overnight stay so we could enjoy a night out in Chester.....we wish we had stayed longer! This hotel seems to have had a partial refurbishment since the pandemic and very tasteful it was too! We ate in the bar and even though it was a bit pricey the food was welcomed and tasty. Staff at every level were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, and the toiletries provided lush. However, the shower was not very powerful.....its alwaysthe same! We had breakfast in the morning and this was delicious and plentiful. Definitely on the list when we return!

Friendly receptionist. Tidy room, very compact, as described, with a huge television. Nice food, dinner was pricey as D,B&B offer only gave £22 credit, which barely covered the cost of main course. Excellent breakfast.

The experience was just okay. There were a few let downs. * There was no lift at the side of the hotel where we were placed despite having a buggy and stating ahead that we needed a cot for a toddler in our room * The room looked very tired and dust particles were visible on surfaces in the hotel room * There were a few occasions where the reception desk was unmanned and it took up to 5 minutes or more before anyone popped out * We asked for a replacement remote control or rubber band to hold the faulty battery cover on the one in the room in place. * Despite having a late checkout booked, the keys to the rooms got deactivated much earlier and as it was a very long walk to the reception from the room, we just managed to always keep someone in the room till we eventually checked out. Some of the positives were * Staff were generally observant and helpful especially with carrying the buggy up and down the stairs * The breakfast was quite nice and we enjoyed it Overall, the stay was just alright but expected more from a 4 * hotel.

From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming professional and very helpful, it has been a long time since we last visited Chester and the young lady on reception was very helpful explaining that the park and ride was a very short walk down the road, she even printed a timetable out for us with was very helpful. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean the breakfast was very varied and of a high quality, we also ate at the hotel in the evening and the food was to a high standard. We will definitely be returning to this hotel and thanks again to all the staff for all the help and the welcome received.

I am greeted by the exceptional team at reception who always ensure I have a comfortable stay. Bradley and Sue always go the extra mile to ensure that I have a good stay in the hotel and all my needs are catered for. The team at breakfast are also very friendly and catering. The cleaning and housekeeping team are also great! Thank you Mercure Chester.

Enjoyed a night at The Mercure, Chester on 1/12/23. The staff were lovely, very friendly, helpful and polite. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was great, very good selection of items in the cold section, several types of bread and pastries and the cooked food was fresh and hot. One of the best buffet breakfasts I’ve had. Thanks to all the staff on duty, your customer service was noticed and it makes a difference. When we are next in Chester, will definitely stay with you again.

Myself and my partner stayed last night as this is where we met 4 years ago so it was our anniversary. We got complimentary drinks which was lovely. Bradley on reception is a breath of fresh air, all the staff are lovely and helpful. We ordered room service which was lovely but if I could make 1 comment is that it needs a cover over it as the curly fries where cold when it arrived. All in all it was a lovely room, comfy bed and apart from a little dust here and there (tv and inside windows could do with a scrub) it was great and we will be back again soon xx

Great service from Susan on reception, really friendly and helpful. Breakfast time till 11 amazing. Daryl at breakfast was so professional, helpful, and friendly couldn’t do enough for you. Thanks for the great service. Sue who greeted us at breakfast was lovely too. Our room however had a very bad musty smell and the room was very tired and in need of an upgrade or deep carpet clean/ windows. Lovely surroundings. Wouldn’t stop us from coming back.

Lovely hotel, amazing friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Lovely bar area. Only issue, the dinning evening menu was not restaurant dinning. It was the same as the bar, basically burgers, burgers and more burgers, basic choices of usual, fish and chips, steak and pie. Half the dishes, sides and sauces where hot and/or spicy. This is not restaurant dinning and quite expensive. Would stay again but eat out. Also, park and ride 2 mins walk from the hotel, perfect for 2 sisters weekend in Chester

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for a night this week as we were visiting friends locally. We were delighted to find the hotel is dog friendly so our 4 year old collie came with us too. Check in was quick and efficient ( thank you Paula). Once in our room we found it was impeccably clean and there was a lovely dog towel model on the bed (thanks to Denise our room attendant and Liz for the creativity). After an evening out and a good nights sleep we went down to breakfast where there is a specific area for dogs and owners to sit together. Dave was running breakfast and did a great job. This is one of the best buffet style breakfasts we have ever had with plenty of choice and good quality options. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Chester.

I'm very torn about the hotel, I'll start off with the positives which were the staff are absolutely lovely, in my experience the attitude of staff can make or break your visit. Susan on reception and Richard who worked on the bar and at breakfast, really stood out to us. They were so helpful and friendly, so thank you. Also, the buffet breakfast was lovely too, really well set out, lots of selection and fresh tasty food! The negatives for us were the fact the lift was broken and we had 2 young kids and a pram to get up a flight of stairs. That was pretty inconvenient. Also the hotel could do with a lot of updating and slightly more attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness of the rooms. The showers were constantly changing from boiling hot to freezing cold too. And lastly we used the pool which was lovely for the kids, but the changing rooms and the pool itself had a funny smell and again, looked a bit grubby as though it could do with some updating. That been said, the wonderful staff and lovely food totally outweighed the negatives and we ended up having a really lovely stay. When the staff are this good, it's easy to look past minor negatives. Thank you!

The hotel was great with a great nice sleep. The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and bed comfy. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice. My friend and I had a great weekend at this hotel. The room was clean and warm, the only downside was the lack of a wardrobe for hanging our full length dresses in. The toiletries smelled lovely and there was even real milk on the tea/coffee tray. We had a lovely couple of hours in the health club before our murder mystery dinner. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Susan on reception was amazing.

What a friendly helpful staff team, everyone was welcoming and lovely. Food was good, lovely breakfast with great staff who were very efficient. The room was clean, with great products. My colleague brought his dog and we were welcomed with special areas to dine with the dog and no one made us feel uncomfortable. Great place that I would highly recommend.

This is not a four star hotel. We have stayed in better budget hotels. Where to start. Room was extremely dirty, cigarette burns on the curtains, dried blood on the pillow cases, hairs found in the bed and all over the bathroom including in the shower. Felt dirty sleeping on the bed, was worried about bed bugs it was that bad. Rooms were extremely dated and the mattress was rock solid. The only positive about the hotel is the location. Would not hurry back.

A dog friendly hotel with dog friendly staff who made a fuss of my fur ball. Bed was very comfortable. Room clean. Park and ride into Chester a couple of minutes walk from hotel. Food delicious. A special mention to Susan on reception, Howard, Gemma and Daryl in the brasserie and Kieran on the lounge bar. Will definitely be coming to stay again. Thanks to all.

Amazing place. Susan on the desk was so friendly and welcoming, Richard on the nights team amazing and what a team player. Howard and the team in the restaurant outstanding and so professional. Sue the food and beverage manager stood out from the crowd. And of course Liz in housekeeping a credit to this hotel. We will be sure to return.

Unfortunately not had the pleasure of having a room as being a single parent basically can't afford it 🙈 BUT I always attend the charity events! The are so reasonable priced , love the fact funds go to charity, my son just thinks it's amazing! Fully entertained !Can't wait for the Halloween event. My parents are members for the swimming so go there to it just feels like you are on holiday.

We had an amazing day at the Summer Family Fun event on Sunday. It was a lovely laid back day, there was tones to do for the kids. Both boys loved the bouncy castle, treasure hunt, mini sports day, Jo Jingles and Captain Fantastic, all of which was included in the ticket price (which was then donated to charity). There were a few stalls with activities which were chargeable such as sand art, badge making and bracelet making. Both boys had a go on each and they were all reasonably priced. Selection of lovely stalls. There were sandwiches, cakes and drinks on offer but we decided to make a day of it and had an early dinner in the bar. The food was delicious. Can't wait for the next event.

We had a lovely time at Abbots Well in Chester. The reception, rooms and hotel were clean and tidy. The staff were superb, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were slightly dated but they were clean so this was ok. We had breakfast and an evening meal in the hotel and both were very tasty. Izzy our waitress on the evening was brilliant as was the young lady at breakfast who had fantastic knowledge about Chester Zoo which we were visiting (apologies, I've forgotten her name) - if you could give them both a shout out that would be fantastic. The only downside was after our room had been been cleaned on the first night of our 2 night stay, the hand soap was not filled up and the toilet had not been cleaned either. Other than that we had a lovely stay - our daughter absolutely loved the pool. Thanks for a great stay

We haven't slept just yet, but after a week of being in below paw hotels with have been met with some of the best service. Room upgraded and it looks beautiful. We booked the pods outside too as we knew we would be arriving late from Edinburgh, Ollie and Megan looked after us so perfectly and it made for a really special meal for 2 tired individuals. Nothing was too much trouble for them and food whilst not the most spectacular was tasty and filling. You have done your company proud, so much so we have changed our booking in Brighton in a few weeks to a Mercur just because of this

We stayed with a family group of 12, aged 18 to 86, and we couldn’t have been better looked after. The staff are friendly and helpful, have good local knowledge and were happy to accomodate any request for assistance. A special mention for Howard who helped our evening meal run smoothly. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Chester, it’s only a short drive to the city centre, has a good pool and gym and provides a relaxed and comfortable base for your visit.

Fabulous service, an entire team of fantastic staff. Sue, Paula, Jimmy, Howard and in particular Lucy, so friendly, professional, helpful and welcoming. 5* customer service. Rooms were lovely, food was fab, pool was very warm. Will be exciting to see the rest of the renovation when its complete. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Wanted to stay a couple of nights in a quiet location, this was perfect. Regular bus service into Chester. The reception staff were knowledgeable about the area, and could point me in the right direction. The morning receptionist was call Natalie and the signing out lady was called Paula, both members were friendly and smiling. Very reassuring when you’re a bit nervous. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in a long time, I think the chefs name was Dave, he came out to ensure everything was satisfactory, a nice personal touch. I know where to stay when visiting Chester in the future.

Stayed Friday night till Sunday march 2023 fabulous. Staff very friendly room clean, tidy lovely hotel . Chester city centre within walking distance (cab back only costs £7) lots of places to eat within walking distance and a supermarket round the corner. Only thing I would say is that the hotel it’s self is very expensive but enough places around so not the end of the world. Pool lovely 👍 will definitely come again.

We had an over night stay here Saturday 28 January 2023 and it was lovely. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our stay included an evening meal and breakfast and the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. The hotel bar served a variety of drinks at very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.
