Was there Sunday 16th October, have to say one of the nicest hungry horse pubs we've visited. Booked a table which was ready even tho we arrived early. Clean table. Very smiley polite staff and a cracking roast dinner for the 2 of us. I got the extra large 🤣 this is how a busy family orientated pub should be run. Will definitely be back. Well done

Came here for food and drinks on a very stormy, quiet night on 19/02/2022, with 7 adults, all family. 19 year old nephew had his pint taken off him as was asked for ID fortunately, he lived over the road, got his passport, however the bullying, male member of staff, refused to give his pint back and then 'barred' all of us because he didn't like being challenged. Three families who all live in Meols, all been loyal customers - will gladly go elsewhere.

Very impressed with everything. Very affordable price £12.99 two mains on Sunday. Huge portion, absolutely stuffed. Super friendly service, very smiley and helpful!

A mid afternoon, midweek visit, so the place was pretty quiet. Service friendly, food arrived promptly, and good sized portions. Note that the children's menu is separate from the main menu - I didn't spot this, so ordered a "smaller plate" from the main menu. This wasn't a problem because my 7yr old eats like a horse, but some children would've struggled with that portion size. All in all, a good experience, and we would be happy to return if we were in the area again.

This place has been in trouble a few times in the past for bad hygiene and they way things are going it'll end up in trouble again before long. The table was covered in food which no member of staff offered to clean but worse than that when they brought the cutlery out there was still left over food on the forks! When I asked a member of staff to replace the dirty forks he told me the debris on them wasn't food but left over polishing crystals from when they polish the forks. What a load of baloney! Seems to me that no matter how many bad reviews for cleanliness this pub gets the management never learn.

Go regularly for lunch with friends,always tasty food,we usually have whatever the daily deal is.some nice real ales on too.Lovely staff,always happy! Returned Friday evening with family for crazy bingo,such a fun night.ordered some side dishes that came out fast even though a busy night.👏👏

One of the few remaining family restaurants in former pubs. Familiar menus often over complicated by special offers that confuse rather than excite. Minimal table service but staff good humoured and extra polite

Really disappointed yesterday. Teenage kids were meeting friends at the park, so husband and i decided to grab a 'quick bite'. Ordered a wrap, a baguette and side of chips and 2 coffees, came to £27 which i thought was a lot. Then 30 mins later asked the step in manager how long and he said 5 mins, another 15 mins later i asked again as it still hadnt came out. 50mins in total we waited. It wasnt very nice either. Chips were cold. When i spoke to someone he said its a 30 min wait always, been going here years and never waited that long. Husband was also not told it would be a big wait. Really disappointing.

Great place for inexpensive food and drinks. Although it gets very busy at peak times, as groups prebook and the tables are reserved far too early. I have noticed that there are less staff serving at the bar these days.

Always a pleasure to pop in here, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff are lovely & the food is good. You get great value for money. Updated: Sept 2022 We came here for breakfast with my mother in law up from Cornwall when my sister in law arrived early with her dog. She was welcomed into the restaurant & a member of staff offered her dog some unwanted bacon, which was happily accepted! The breakfast was great, we felt very welcome and the staff were absolutely lovely (as always!). We came again for dinner with the rest of the family (family reunion) which was a total of 7 adults, 6 kids and the dog. Our booking was easy and we were given an enclosed area to sit in. All of our food was hot and brought out promptly, we even managed to get a photo of us all courtesy of the lovely member of staff who agreed to take it. We had a wonderful experience across the 2 days and being able to bring the dog along too was just the icing on the cake. Thank you all very much 💖

A casual pub that serves food basically. We have been to a few of these places now and the menus are pretty much the same among the group, as you'd expect. The potion sizes that we have are rather large at all of these outlets. This has made me and my wife consider sharing the starters, main and dessert! Yes, we literally shared the dessert and still only managed to eat about 3 quarters of it! The food itself is great and for the price you pay, it's a real bargain, especially in todays economy.

I always look forward to going the Railway. The food is always lovely. Lisa the manager is friendly and works so hard and puts on some great acts and has everyone up dancing. Loving the new lad Declan, he works so hard and very helpful and funny too. Well done The Railway.

Nice place, can get very busy and parking is limited and tight. Staff were nice and place was clean. Buy one get one free burger Friday plus blue lights discount stacks as a bargain meal.

Lovely lunch reasonable cost, efficient service, we went at busy lunch time and were served very quickly. Great transport links bus stop outside rail station just up the road, car park. Beach nearby.

Got some din-dins and we really enjoyed our meals. Korean BBQ burger, please sell me that sauce! The booth we seat on was really in need of a refreshing but overall great experience. The staff was good & the food was good and quick!

We happened to arrive just before Liverpool FCs opening game of the season. The game was being screened live on Sky Sports - the atmosphere was great...not a place for Everton supporters, I'd guess!

Been here a few times for food now, always enjoyed what we have got. The staff are lovely, great choice of food and drinks. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and mains were cooked well and great portions. All very reasonably priced. A great place to visit with families, we will come back again.

This used to be a great place to eat. We visited recently and left disappointed. We took a chance whilst passing on my recommendation because this was a favourite place of mine to eat. We walked in and asked if any tables were available only to be snottily told to "just have a walk around and see". We ordered from the table (on the app) and thought drinks would arrive at the table as same with the food but 20 minutes later went to the bar to ask only to be told the drinks were sitting on the bar the whole time where anyone could have taken them. It is not a problem to go the bar but why offer table service and just leave people wondering where the drinks are? It was not clear that drinks had to be collected from the bar The food used to be great pub grub but I had a chicken curry that resembled anything but a curry. My wife had steaks (ordered medium-rare) and they were so tough that as a former postman, they'd have come in handy strapped to the bottom of my shoes to get me through the slippy winter months. And a microwaved potato was passed off as a jacket potato! The atmosphere was a little weird I couldn't put my finger on it but it just had a weird vibe. Hungry horse is great food and for value but the Railway is nothing in comparison to the other local Hungry Horse in New Brighton the Seahorse, which we have visited twice in the last month and left impressed with the atmosphere and most importantly the food Very disappointed

The Bar Manager, I assume, wasn't very welcoming. She took offence when a customer asked her about the ice for drinks as obviously they hadn't had ice for a while due to the comment. Also, the soft drink off the pump was very soda water tasting. The food was great, not a long wait to have it served.

Good food reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful. Even the other customers were very friendly and chatty.

fun family friendly experience from my server max! he Was quick with food and made sure that if we had any problems all we had to do was give him a shout. yummy food and many alternatives available for my significant other. will 100% be back before xmas!

I have been visiting this pub fairly regularly for the last six months and have been consistently impressed by the rapid and friendly service provided by the young and enthusiastic staff and by the delicious food and drink. There is a happy atmosphere and I always look forward to my visits. Thanks to everyone for working so hard to make your venue so pleasant.

Had a family meal here Sunday, starters were all fine, although one didn’t come out until we’d all nearly finished ours. waited ages for our mains and the 2 roast beef dinners were cold and the beef was inedible. No one cleared our table and when our puddings finally came after another long wait, they were served to us with our dirty dishes still around us so we had to push them to the other end of the table. One of the kids dessert came out as just ice cream and we had to ask for the sauce, twix, cookie, cream, sweets and sauce to be taken back to the kitchen and added as that’s what we paid for it to have on the ice cream. Such a shame as we usually love eating here.

Great breakfast and excellent value for money! Only issue was over cooked sausage was rock hard. Very nice staff and quick service. Definitely recommend!

3 stars based on today's visit only. We've been going to the Railway for years and normally it's very good, but today the quality of the food fell short of what we have come to expect. However, we won't judge it on today alone and we will be going back. Great value.

Excellent staff, quick service. Food arrived hot and didn't have to wait long for our breakfast order to be brought out.

Aweful could have made better food with my eyes closed. Literally felt like they gone down to local park and asked some kids to work in the kitchen. Saying that an intelligent child could probably cook better than what I was served.

Food lovely could do with a face lift

I visited the Railway 23rd December. Myself and friends decided to have a pre Xmas lunch out. I've previously been to this pub a few times before. On my recent visit the place was much the same . The staff are polite friendly and service was efficient. Regarding my meal of 8oz rump steak. I wasn't that impressed. I request it to be cooked medium. It come out well done. The steak itself was really tough lots grissle and rather flavourless. Seems like the quality of the meat they are using has dropped,I've previously had steak in this eatery and it was much better. My friends meals was ok they had a burger and a chicken baguette sandwich . If I visit the railway again I'll definitely not chose a steak. Apart from my meal I can't complain as my friends enjoyed their food.

Honestly the portion sizes in here are enormous. You could feed an army. Decent prices for what isn't actually bad food too. The downside is that we're still waiting for our bread and butter to come out with the scampi though, and it's been like a week since we went. Lots of parking, can pay via an app, and the staff are really nice. We will definitely be back.

Went for lunchtime. The Railway is bright and spacious and I know that covid restrictions have lifted but at the same time there is a worry. There was no need for that here. There was plenty of space between tables and it felt very comfortable sitting in here. The food was served piping hot after a long deliberation of what to have from a very extensive menu. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble, we asked about a gluten free menu, which they brought for us to see. I have to say this is a lovely menu with plenty of main courses to pick from with lots of extra add on to select. Our overall experience was exceptional, we will be coming back, bringing our allergy grandson with us.

Tremendous establishment with an extensive Food and Drinks menu served to a Very High quality! An amazing ARAY of TVs with various Sports being shown. Evening entertainment advertised at the Entrance very professional Set Up.

We haven't been to the Railway pub for a meal for a long time. The last time we went it wasn't that good. This time it was just as bad. I had a mixed grill. Chicken was wet. Sausages were dry and over cooked. The gammon was salty. Not an enjoyable meal. I mentioned it to the waitress when she asked how the food was. She just said oh dear. I won't be going there again.

Ordered fish and chips. Really good portions here. Staff lovely. Food didn't take to long neither. Decor and seating/tables need updating. Starting to get tired looking. Overall good value for money

Ordered the vegan 3 course meal, the starter which was soup was nice, the main was awful and had to send it back,frozen veg, undercooked sprouts, not sure what the beetroot tart was but it wasn't very nice. They need to include better options for vegans. The desert was nice. The children's meal was terrible, dry pasta with a blob of sauce on top. Wouldn't recommend the food here overall.

Food was very good and no complaints. Serving staff did their best but a few errors made. Our friends received their deserts before us and finished them well before we received ours. Had to ask twice before we got them delivered to our table, this caused some delay to our friends who sat patiently waiting for us to finish.

I Have to say Had a nice experience on Tuesday 7th. I went with my daughter for a breakfast and it was one of the most nicest breakfast I have had for a long time with good quality food , the three woman that worked behind the bar where so polite , warm and welcoming. As I was in a wheelchair they where so helpful and brought my drinks over for me we really enjoyed it and a big thank you to them they are a real asset to your company! keep up that high standards and people will come back over and over I highly recommend them

Great staff, great food, nice atmosphere and excellent tv coverage of current sporting events. Smallish car park, was 80% full when we visited mid-week at 7:30pm - however, England Ladies football was being shown on TV, so perhaps not surprising. Will go again.

Spacious, grand building. Great decor, well maintained with friendly staff. Lots of big screens and some small screens in booths. A bar area and a lounge area. We've just moved into the area, this will become our local! Plenty of parking and disabled friendly.

We love the railway! Staff at are always very friendly and welcoming, we love a family meal on a Friday and it always delivers! Great range great price and great welcome what more can you ask for

Booked a table, clearly non reserved for us ,2 of us sat on a grotty table probably for 8 by the toilets asked to move got moved to a dirty table. Food was OK, young lad that served us was pleasant and efficient as was the lady behind the bar but went to the ladies and a member of staff was vomiting for quite a while and then returned to working behind the bar ? was a person with authority so hopefully pregnant and not ill !
