Great place to visit on a Sunday for a casual, family friendly day out. They have markets, petting zoo, pony rides, old cars, pub/hotel for lunch, jumping castle, steam train exhibit, fire engine museum & more.

Recently visited Old Petrie Town for their Steam Fair. We took the kids along and we were all very impressed not only by the steam engines, but how the staff were dressed in period correct clothing. The museum was small but full of great things to see. They had a scavenger hunt thing to find letters for the younger kids. The kids LOVED this. I will return again and again, 100% would recommend.

Not busy during weekdays. Markets on Sundays. I think thereight be people stilling living here. Some of these museums here take donations (cash) for entry so that I didn't walk in. Will come back and check out the market on Sunday. The next steaming day is 30th April.

It is quite interesting but a tad tacky. The shops aren't particularly in character.

Well worth a visit if you like to get out into the country and soak in the serenity without having to go far. You can wander about the beautiful old cottages, grab a cold drink or coffee and sit and enjoy nature and birdlife. Plenty of parking.

The Sunday market had a great atmosphere. Everyone was friendly. The market stalls were so unique. Three small museums exceeded our expectations. The food stores were tasty. The cottages were beautiful.

Lovely heritage spot. They host markets on Sundays, and sometimes evening markets around Christmas. There is a place in the food court that does really tasty satay sticks. The pub does good food, but can have a long wait. The distillery next to the pub makes great gin - one of which is made using botanicals sourced from around Old Petrie Town!

Fantastic little Sunday adventure. Markets are bursting with crafts and really special unique things only a good market provides. Stay for lunch at hotel for a great cheap meal or set up a picnic and wander around the historical village. Great way to spend a Sunday. Prices are family friendly.

Absolutely loved the day here. We were part of a trial of a new children's education program where the kids were taken through each area for an immersive experience. Just loved it. So brillant to have hands-on participation in what life was like in the old days. A school room, general store, Hannes and leisure and a family home. Fantastic! We'll all remember it fondly for the rest of our lives.

If you like markets and museums, you'll love this place. Both the fire engine and boiler museums had plenty to look at and machinery was in good condition. I would have loved to be there on the days it is all running. There were also a few eateries which looked popular. We went because we thought there was pony rides but only saw a private party with a petting zoo and pony. We spent about 2hrs looking around but you could spend more if your kid's attention span I longer than 5mins.

My daughter and I were tempted to go to the steam and vehicles xpo, so we went out fairly early on Saturday. The terrific showing of this bygone era was excellent but what nailed it for me was the blacksmith showing. I'm going to sign up for a course in the not too distant future.

Old school charm and the kids love the first Sunday of the month as that's when the steam engines fire up. Awesome! If you like classic cars and bikes there is always something to look at on a Sunday morning. Classic cars and bikes are allowed to park onsite in the old town. Oldskool fun. The market stalls are quite varied and have quality goods. Checkout the wooden toy stall. It is epic anything from trains to boats to trucks, airplanes and more. Will make to order as well. Check out the food stalls amazing variety and quality goods. YUMMY.

  • 5/5 Laurel Anne S. 7 months ago on Google
Attended the Sunday markets for the 1st time, what a great atmosphere! Everyone was friendly, food was top notch. The market stalls (not a huge amount though enough to satisfy) were all unique, well priced with lots of bargains. Free live entertainment throughout each with different genre music and plenty to keep the kids amused. Great way to spend Sunday, really cool spot.

Amazing to experience The Queensland Steam and Vintage Machinery Society demonstrations, it runs every first Sunday of the month. The members do a great job to restore and maintain the old pieces of machinery and very passionate and willing to share their knowledge of the machines.

Nice day out during the markets on a Sunday for the family. It is a repurposed town with historical buildings in use for the markets. Fire fighting museum was great, old steam engine museum also good with activities for kids, the workshops were a nice add on with some people doing metal castings and gave some away. Ride on the mini fire truck was fun for the little ones. Coffee and good selection of food available, vegetarian cafe and also German sausages in the main food pavilion. Great family day out.

We love this place! The markets are sweet and old worldly. There is often entertainment playing, so you can set up a picnic rug and relax. Kids like the bouncy castle. There are plenty of food and drink options. The museums are interesting and have things of interest to a wide variety of people. Overall, it's just a nice, relaxed place to visit.

Nice little place for a day out. Cutest little Tea house a definite must see. A lovely cup of tea and cake to finish the day off. Markets were smaller due to weather. Will definately go back! Ooh, the old fashioned sweets store too was great.

Markets, seen one, seen them all right...hmm, maybe not...there is a certain charm and warmth to be felt here and we keep ending up back there for a stroll with our dogs. Last Friday night was different with the twilight markets, food vans, live music, small car collection on display with their proud owners who were polite and welcoming. Plenty of children, dogs and good ole fashioned manners. Well done to all involved, and visiting like us, it was an enjoyable couple of hours.

  • 4/5 Hui W. 3 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) The small locomotive museum is particularly interesting. The grandma on the market was very very friendly and gave my baby a big windmill. We were late and didn't catch up to go to the market. But this town is really nice. It is worthwhile to go early and take a good walk before the sun is in the sun. (Original) 小小的机车博物馆特别有意思。 market上的奶奶非常非常友好,给我娃送了一个大风车。 我们去晚了没赶上好好逛市场。 但这个小镇真不错。早去趁不晒好好走一走很值得。

We go here to visit Jane Clare a clairvoyant. She is amazing! Always quite accurate with the information she provides. Always try to visit once a year or once every 6 months. She has been very professional and also allows you to record the session. She as a lot of information for you so you kinda have to record it and listen back to it later. Jane also sells stones and incense. It is located right next to the Dabro Markets

I love Old Petrie Town, especially with all the beautiful lawns, planted gardens and old style buildings. It's always a pleasant morning out, with lots of choice for eating out, even when our favourite place is closed. And it's more comfortable for our dog too, not so hot and crowded as some places. I wish it had more ATM availability on site, as many merchants do still prefer cash payments. Surely someone could bring an ATM trailer as many other places do? I also miss the fruit & veg and butcher's stalls, I'd much rather have a relaxed time and do my weekly shop there.

  • 1/5 Andrew J. 3 years ago on Google
Falling to pieces and a mess, the council needs to step in and fix the place up and have some sort of pride for the heritage buildings within the historical park, i didn’t take any photos while there but maybe I should go back and take a few 😡

Really nice grounds.. lovely to walk around on a nice day. We went to the diner there and it wasn't great. 30 minute wait for food and coffee and there were only 2 other tables there. The service was friendly though. Most of the shops were closed. Wouldn't say dont go but probably won't return again.

A wonderful market, there are plenty of treasures to find and buy. The food stalls offer a variety of choices.

  • 3/5 Chipmunkboy 3 years ago on Google
Nice, although there needs to be more marketing for this place, since most other things have been improved upon since my last visit. I live how it's basically a tradition for old cars to be lined up on the side of the roads if there's an event like a market or something is going on.

  • 5/5 Tris S. 3 years ago on Google

Great candy shop. Lollies from the old days, your favourites, including willy wonka bars and the chance to win a golden ticket. My granddaughter opened hers and inside was a golden ticket. They have great relishes and chutney as well. Great car show as well that day.

We had a nice walk around the markets here last Sunday. There weren't many stalls, but we may have been on a quiet weekend. The markets themselves are dog friendly, but dogs aren't allowed in the food hall - or (I imagine) in the little shops that are dotted around the place. Definitely worth a stroll around as the buildings are very cute.
