This trail is mostly used by mountain bikers so through hikers want to be alert on blind corners. The traffic can be pretty regular on weekends, but even so this trail rewards the adventurous hiker with some unique views of the lake and a good chance to spot an osprey. Photographers will enjoy the various opportunities for seeing wildlife, and those seeking a hour or two in a quiet, serene pool of sunlight next to the shore will be rewarded for walking a mile or two West from the Yanceyville Rd parking area. Speaking of, better get there early if you want to park -a popular lot for bikers. Grades are mostly gentle with some short sharp pitches. Absolutely gorgeous under the many Beeches at any time of year, but Summer afternoons are magical.

Pure local mountain biking pleasure. Flow trails with minimal technical features, a great place to get into shape and hone your skills before stepping up to Wild Turkey or Owls Roost in Bur Mil Park. Awesome new burm and jump lines at the end of King Fisher called Swan Song. And a beautiful view of the lake. Update: squirrel creek and burl oak are phenomenal! To the builders of king Fisher extension and these 2 new trails...BRAVO!!! Holy crapamoly these trails are incredibly fun, huge Burms, large drops and jumps galore. I can't exactly participate in the jumps (only 4 months since rotator cuff surgery), but I can't wait until I can! Thank you so much. These trails make Greensboro an epic ride destination.

This was my first time hitting a bike trail but I loved it! Trail was clear of obstructions and was a great way to get started! If you're a beginner this a a great trail to introduce you to trails.

Really fun flowy trail. No difficult obstacles. Lovely view of the lake from the trail. Plenty of parking at the trailhead

Blue Heron and Kingfisher trails that connect here are really great trails. This is a nice little parking lot. At night some sketchy people seem to hangout here, so night-riders be cautious.

Fun fast single track. BH is fairly flat, KF has engineered berms, banks and jumps

Not sure why there is so much positive buzz about Blue Heron as an MTB trail. Rode there today and what little flow is there is made pretty much useless by all of the roots on the trail. Save your energy and ride Wild Turkey instead. It's a blast.

Both trails r so flowly and the recently added trail, King Fisher, with burms and switchbacks adds additional fun.
