Love the atmosphere and concept of this place. There is live music and the food is also really good. The whole place has a really cool vibe!!!

Such a great atmosphere. I’ve been coming here for over 12 years and the customer service and the quality of food hasn’t changed once. This place is definitely a must. Located just off Main Street in downtown Greenville, SC. There is a parking garage just down the street or you can find free two hour parking around the location. If you make a purchase you enjoy the great WiFi service they have.

Pros: Delicious milkshakes, coffee beverages, and deserts right in the heart of downtown. Excellent baristas. Cozy basement vibe with mix matched furnishings. Lots of seating both inside and out. Cons: The “Plush” Interior furnishings desperately need replacing… they all died years ago and offer zero comfort or support. Stick to the tables and booths.

Ordered a black iced drip coffee, a dirty chai, and the dipper plate. Dipper plate had half a cucumber to actually do the dipping, the black iced coffee had some kind of funky syrup in it which made it taste like 3-day-old Starbucks, and the iced dirty chai was completely missing. Never got it. I'm sure many people have perfectly fine experiences with this place but mine was terrible.

Great coffee. Omelette was so so (feta good, tomatoes sliced not diced making a chunkier experience) toasted wheat bread was terrible. Second coffee was made totally different from first but still decent for a cortado. Should be more consistent but again great beans.

Women owned cozy, charming underground coffee is what you look for on an early morning. There was a couch where I crushed and enjoyed my cappuccino, sandwich and cheesecake.

Food was pretty good. I still crave the dill dip and chips since my last visit. The BLT was fresh and a good sized portion for a decent price. I miss the sweet potato fries. Jasmine tea was awesome, but after so many years of being in business you'd think they'd have individual packets of honey by now. It makes my skin crawl to touch the sticky honey bottle to add to my tea every time. I've learned to just wash my hands after. Really nice atmosphere overall but not so much when overcrowded. I'll return anyway because I like the location, tea and food.

I recently visited a coffee place and was met with a huge line. Despite the wait, the price was average and the staff were friendly, which helped to make the experience more pleasant. When I finally got my coffee, I found the taste to be okay - better than what I've had at Starbucks. However, given the long wait and only average coffee, I'm not sure if I would choose to spend my time here again in the future.

Pretty good coffee shop located…you guessed it…underground! I tried the banana smoothie this time and it was tasty. They use purée, not actual fruit, but I still enjoyed it. I’d like to come back in the future and try the coffee though.

This cafe is appropriately located on Coffee Street in Greenville, SC, right off Main Street. As the name implies, it is in the basement of a building. The cafe is very uniquely decorated, with different types of furniture throughout. The furniture is old and rather worn, so the entire cafe has a rather special atmosphere. The staff is friendly and correct. The cafe offers breakfast food and cakes and has a good menu. The coffee is excellent and one doesn’t have to wait long for it. You can choose to have it served in beautiful cups if you are drinking your coffee at Underground, or you can have it in a paper cup to go. We will come back to Underground for the delicious coffee. The coffee was good with a very nutty flavor. The lunch sandwich wasn't great, but it was okay.

A downtown Greenville staple, located down a flight of stairs at the corner of Coffee St. and Main in the heart of it all. Exposed brick and well worn seating await you for some quiet reading or a group meet up after dinner. Coffee quality is solid and the food options are better than you’d expect for a coffee shop. A dessert case offers slices of pie, cheesecake, carrot cake, brownies, cookies, and other baked good like scones. I recommend the cinnamon scone! Service is usually quick and the staff are friendly in an unobtrusive way.

Great great place! If you like a true Cafe, cozy, inviting, comfort food coffee shop, this is it. Cool location below street level, warm colors, great seating, very clean. Food was delicious, great coffee, and the prices were surprisingly low for in town classy eatery. Great menu variety for meals and desserts. Staff was excellent and efficient. If you visit Greenville often this would be an "every time when in town" stop. For locals, it's the place we go.

This place is a hidden gem. The coffee is great. So glad our friend recommended we check it out while in town. I'd drive back just to get some!

Nice hidden gem, cool atmosphere and delicious selection of coffees. I specifically asked enjoyed the Iced Late and the the design of the place.

New review I went today for coffee and enjoyed sitting in a back corner booth. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. My coffee was extremely hot so it took a while to drink but it was delicious. I had a cappuccino and my friend had an americano Previous review 2022 Great drinks & delicious food. The name implies a coffee shop but it is actually a tasty restaurant as well. Dark and calm atmosphere with little nooks and crannies to hide out and chat with friends. I’m gluten free and ate a delicious salad. My friend has the bistro burger.

If I could give 6 stars on atmosphere, I absolutely would. On the next stop at Hipster central, we have this nice dungeon-y underground café with a french lick and a bit of Je ne sais quoi. I ordered the coffee and the turkey, brie and apple sandwich, and I still remember the nice and soft brie cheese melting into the turkey with the french cheese aroma. Why have I never thought of using brie cheese like this? It's brilliant, thank you Coffee Underground! The bread was a bit dry, and I think a bit more thought could've been put together for the sandwich, but for everything else it's brilliant. The water situation was a bit precarious, because of the large well of non-existent ice at the time, but I take it I came at a busy time. Alas, if you are on a 10 mile long urban hike through downtown Greenville and want to take another one of the 10 pit-stops you'll take through this sweet downtown, you should take a stop down here. Take a date here, whatever, talk about your next business venture, or even study PoliSci! One of the many activities you pretend to enjoy!

EXCELLENT breakfast and coffee at Coffee Underground. Local people recommended CU as the best in Greenville, and it is. Choosing local businesses over chains is a mission for us, and Coffee Underground is a perfect example. The food is freshly made and delicious. The coffee is great. Highly recommended.

Recommended by my local friend, otherwise we probably wouldn’t know that it’s there hiding underground. We got 2 lattes and the delicious big piece of strawberry 🍓 cake to share. We got there around 2 pm when they were empty, but within an hour the store was packed. The sitting areas could get a refresh!

My favorite coffee place in Greenville! We went to 7 different coffee shops while visiting and this has the best coffee! The omelet and croissant sandwich were fantastic. The vibe is funky and fun. My marshmallow latte was very tasty and done very well.

This is a nice cozy place in downtown. The good is great. It's mostly self service kind of place, but the folks are very nice. Only reason for 4 star is that it was not very near and clean and we had to clean our own table to sit. Apart from that top notch!!

Favorite little eclectic coffee shop. Hope it never changes. Peanut butter pie is our overall favorite but all the desserts and food are great. Love that you can get a pint or a coffee any time of the day.

Super friendly staff, you do bus your own table, the smoothies are refreshing I choose to get a strawberry one. Cheesecake was really good, also plenty of seating.

Such a cute and homey coffee shop. You can feel the authenticity in the atmosphere. A real city style set up with a small town feel. Food is cooked fresh and delicious. Coffee is perfectly brewed not too sweet. Definitely added to my go to list.

Great experience here while still in exploration mode of G'ville. Love that they have an early open on Sunday! I had the "honey bee" with almond milk, the farmer's quiche, and an everything bagel. Here's why I was impressed: nowhere in my recent memory have I been happy with a bagel order. I like mine toasted WELL. This place scored! Golden brown and crunchy on the outside, just how I like it. The quiche was good as well. Price points are decent. The ambiance is exactly what the name conveys....it's under street level connected to a comedy theatre. The inside is somewhat dark and filled with vintage and antique furniture, which would be a fantastic location for an absinthe bar as well. Come and check it out.

I had the bagel with spicy sausage and Gouda cheese, very good and tasty, my wife had toast and egg also tasty.

I love this place! My friend and I meet every other week at a coffee shop to write, talk about writing, and read our writing, plus get a little socializing in. Today she picked Coffee Underground per my request to find somewhere with healthy lunch options. We were both very impressed with the ambiance and energy of the place. The entire time we were there the place was filled with people but it never felt busy, as in rushed, crowded, or uncomfortable. There was a great vibe and the service was excellent. Now for the food... I was so excited when I received my order. Everything was so fresh, nutritious, and delicious. I had their tuna salad with a side salad. It looked so beautiful that I had to take a picture. And it was served on a nice ceramic plate. I definitely recommend Coffee Underground....even though I don't drink coffee. Lol. Tea drinker here, but today I had water. The only request I would have, well two, is that there be real silverware instead of plastic and that they use compostable to-go containers instead of styrofoam. I hope to catch one of their evening comedy nights. That sounds like fun!

I think I may have been there on an off day. The place was dark and dreary…the dish bins were full and a machine had water running out onto the floor. The coffee wasn’t good I had to toss it and the breakfast sandwich was cold.
