Was recommended to visit here by Iona from Shantytown Heritage Park. And we were sure glad to be recommended this shop. Love that each piece in here is handcrafted by a local artisan and I fell in love with a beautiful jade necklace with a unique and meaningful design. No mass produced cookie cutter stuff here! Catherine was very warm and friendly, and spent time teaching us about the local jade and the differences between normal quartz and serpentine rocks. She was patient while we took our time exploring all the beautiful products. Highly recommend!!

Before the pandemic, I made two trips to New Zealand and stopped here both times to marvel at all the beautiful pieces. For a recent birthday, I ordered a custom piece. The process was easy and meaningful, and I couldn't be happier with what arrived in the mail! Catherine explained the origin of the stone, kept me up to date on the creation of the piece, and beautifully packaged the final necklace. I am absolutely over the moon and look forward to post-pandemic travel days when I can go visit the shop again! Thank you to Catherine (the owner) and Jeremy (the artist/carver)!

Nice little shop with excellent customer service. They know their goods, its origin and give you the informations you need (even you dont know you need them). I felt very welcome from the first moment i walked thru the door till i left. I took my time to choose the right piece but didnt feel uncomfortable like in some other places, when you just look around not sure if you will by anything. The shop assistant was very helpfull, but not pushing me to buy anything. Not to forgot the great quality beautiful carved shapes and colours from local stones. Will be back when i need another piece for someone special!

Beautiful Ponamu and the staff are so lovely and helpful. They had a wide range of pieces and for all budgets. They have smaller pieces for children which were also very affordable.

This was a really nice experience. They have a lot of knowledge of the different type of stones and shapes. The prize is high but it is all worth it rather than buying similar in a tourist shop in bigger towns. It is really worth a visit. I bought a beautiful necklace and I’m so glad I did.
