High school Gymnasium school

👍👍 I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I've already got around a bit as a beginner/substitute teacher (pedagogical traveling circus) and I have to say that at the Mercator-Gymnasium, in addition to a very friendly staff, I found the most sociable student body to date. Perhaps this is also because everyone here is try... People often mention school, students, teachers,

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I've already got around a bit as a beginner/substitute teacher (pedagogical traveling circus) and I have to say that at the Mercator-Gymnasium, in addition to a very friendly staff, I found the most sociable student body to date. Perhaps this is also because everyone here is trying to give those who are quickly written off elsewhere a chance to take the central Abitur (which is equally difficult for everyone!!!). When I drove to the interview, I saw a poster with the slogan "The best thing about Duisburg is the people of Duisburg." As a Düsseldorfer, I thought to myself: "Cool saying - then let's see!". What should I say after just over a year? Sometimes even advertising gets to the heart of the matter! However, I wouldn't necessarily put those who apparently know the passports of all Mercator students and downgrade a school on Google because of too many "foreign students" in the "best" category. In any case, I'm looking forward to meeting half the world again on Musfeldstrasse on Monday (it's much closer than the UN General Assembly in New York - and not so outdated). Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Bunse (currently biology, natural sciences) PS: I think deducting a star because of the building defects is exaggerated. You can also learn and teach well in a disaster relief tent or a rusty corrugated iron hut if the working atmosphere is right!

My two children also go to Mercator Gymnasium and I have to write that they do not exhibit any “anti-social behavior” as was written in the previous comments. I can't confirm that the Abitur is given for free and the students don't do anything, as my daughter (in the EF) diligently does her schoolwork. My daughter also says that there is a sense of togetherness between all the students at her level, even if there are “non-foreigners” there. So far we have not had any negative experiences at the Mercator-Gymnasium and if you need help you will be supported. We also know some successful people (doctors, electrical engineers, business economists...) who completed their high school diploma at the Mercator-Gymnasium. This means that a school does not have to be bad just because the number of foreigners is slightly higher there. The important thing is that the children enjoy going to school. As with any school, there are of course teachers who are nice and helpful, but also some with whom you don't get along well, as is the case in life. But despite all of this, we are very happy with the school and the teachers ✌️

Not only did I get testimonials, but also trauma and depression. Thanks for that.

Level below all else; That doesn't mean that the Abi is a gift. There is hardly any bullying, and if there is, it is anecdotally never based on origin or similar. The atmosphere is occasionally very wild among the students, but due to the strong bond they have with one another, it is always friendlier than one would expect. The fact that the high school has the highest rating among the city center schools should say something.

I would also like to share my own experiences with others. All the teachers I have met there so far are committed and nice people who enjoy their job. Students and teachers are on the same level, which means that every teacher is happy to take care of every student. You can always turn to anyone with all your concerns. The students also have a very special bond with each other because there is a lot of emphasis on the fact that every person is equal, regardless of skin color, gender or culture. They approach new people in a friendly and open-minded manner, for example on open days, and put a lot of effort into designing and presenting their stands, posters, etc. beautifully. Many thanks to a nice team of teachers, friendly students and for a great atmosphere.

I recommend every child to attend school!!!!!! I think the school is just cool!!!! (I'm a student from school) If you don't want to go to this school, don't go to the Mercator Gymnasium if that's what you're interested in!!! Yes, this is a foreign school & now?! I think that's a good thing, because the students can get to know the individual cultures better (and also learn more languages). My father didn't want or don't want me to go to this school, but he also said that it was or was my decision to go to this school, so what I want to say here is that it is your children's decision which school they go to go . (I would be really happy if I saw new faces next year) (PS (for students): Follow your instingt and not what your mother or father tells you!!!!!!!)

Perfect place to learn to assert yourself. When I come to school and see and hear people, I can assert myself and follow my thought of just going home again.

Large rooms and a wide range of courses. 2 stars deducted because of Aging of the building and poorly functioning water pipes (mainly in the art rooms). Well-trained teachers.
